Full Version: Run Skype on boot
Skype Community > English > Skype for Linux
Fedora8
Hi, I am new to this forum, but I just cant figure out how to do this!
Basically, I want to be able to have my fedora8 server boot up and run skype by default (so saved username and password). I would guess it needs to have a .conf file somewhere saving my username and password. Its also an intranet server so I just have it boot to the terminal.

I really need it to start skype so that it can run my business phone system (I have a skypein number). Any ideas on any software?

I really would appreciate the help.

Type "skype -h" for help.
You can see a script : "echo username password | skype --pipelogin"
add it in your init script.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply, and I dont want to sound silly, however my server is based in my attic, and only access via SSH.
Ive attached a screenshot of exactly what my SSH looks like with the "skype -h" command executed. My guess is that the command would launch some kind of GUI but I really dont want to lug a monitor / keyboard / mouse up there to check.
I suppose if I have to then I will, but the idea is that I can make my BT line redundant to make way for a fully Skype enabled house.
I dont see why I should put up with being ripped off by BT any longer, but m main priority for now is my business line.

Anyway, if there is any advice on how to accomplish this I would appreciate it because I am eager to make this happen!

Thank you in advance!
