I have this problem of Skype not using my global proxy settings to connect. It will connect however when I set the proxy in the options in Skype.
But I prefer to have that set to automatic proxy detection, since I'm connecting from different networks that all have different proxy settings.
When it's on automatic, Skype will only connect when I explicitly define the proxy in Firefox (3.0). Skype won't connect when the proxy settings for Firefox are set to use the global proxy settings.
Is there a way to make Skype pick the http proxy settings from the global settings in: System > Preferences > Network Proxy? So that changing the network settings in one place is sufficient to make everything work?
I'm running Skype 2.0.0.68 on Ubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04) with the current standard kernel Linux 2.6.24-18-generic #1 SMP Wed May 28 20:27:26 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
