Does your microphone work in other programs?
What happens if you call echo123?
WyriHaximus_
Yes the microphone works in othe programms with no problems. I tried echo123 but I hear nothing there sadsmile.png.

I have a friend in the same situation.
He can hear me but I cannot hear me.
His mic works, because krecord can record. He doesn't have the "Caputre" option in kmixer, too!

How do you run Skype?
If you are running it over artsd, then you will need to configure artsd in full-duplex, and checking "networked sound" option can help as well, but nobody knows why...

What sound-drivers are you using, alsa or oss? (if it's gentoo, and you use KDE, then skye is most probably run through artsd)

Running Skype over artsd will NOT help him. I have the same problem and it isn't help when i configure artsd in full-duplex and checking "networked sound". I tried to combine with many posibilities and nobody can hear me.
If nobody can hear me it is something wrong with record but recording running properly on other apps.
I tried to run Skype without artsd (artsdsp) and watching there is not any applications that can blocking my soundcard. THEN i can hear other person and he hears me. BUT i can't use other applications with my soundcard at the same time.

Solution?
Make Skype compatibility with ALSA and test it that is working with dmix plugin on soundcards like intel8x0, integrated via etc..
Most people are using ALSA drivers because ALSA are default drivers with kernels 2.6.x.

I have intel8x0 soundcard running on ALSA drivers. Arts for KDE sound.

That's what many of us are pushing for, and since the beginning! But some people at Skype seem to find UI-features more important than alsa support sadsmile.png

seemingly skype is not able to deal with microphones on intel audio HW - at least problems with hearing me on 2 my notebooks (IBM/lenovo thinkpad and Samsung Q1 - both equipped with intel audio), at the same time my deskotp PC absolutely fine.

Tried many combinations with arts, esddsp, muting-unmuting - no success, and works at first attempt on other PC.
