Same issue here.
The upgrade from Feisty to Hardy was a catastrophic one.
Sadly, a fresh new install made things only worse as both sound input and output did not work anymore.
Selecting a new output device has restored one section but mic still doesn't.

And before you ask.. Yes, I have been also tweaking with the Alsa mixer settings but no success... crying.png

I have since discovered that the audio side of the problem is not just with Skype as it affects Amarok and Kaffeine too. It's likely that the call dropping is related I think.
I see there are threads about pulse audio which I am told is is new in Hardy Heron but I know nothing about it - new to me....
Anyone else getting dropped calls and choppy sound in Skype and other things with Hardy?

I'm also getting choppy sound with calls dropping in Hardy. Anyone have any leads? At least this is a step up from Gutsy when it used to hang my kernel. wink.png

I just found out that the audio stop working when you are running Totem or Flash 9.0 (in Firefox to watch youtube etc.). It's annoying but for now I just quit firefox and any audio program before using skype.

This posting solved all the sound problems with Ubuntu Hardy Heron ( 8.04 ) and Skype 2 for me, including the dropping of calls.

Unfortunately, I am still facing the same issue on my Hardy when I am using Skype, i.e. no sound when firefox. This posting did not help me much since I am on a amd64 processor.

Any help would be much apperciated.

Suman.

Sorry ... forgot to mention that I am not using Pulse Audio Server ... I am using an NVidia CK804 (Alsa Mixer).

Anyone else facing the same with this device ?

I have upgraded to Ubuntu hardy.
I have skype 2.0.0.68, Alsa Mixer (last release, I think 1.0.15, in any case that one of Synaptic), I regularly fail my test-call. I hear the others' voice, but they can't hear mine.
I am being driven crazy...
Any help?

Same here, although I have Skype 2.0.0.68-1 downloaded from the Skype site. My sound works for about 10 seconds and then drops. This really is too bad. Skype is advertised for Linux but it doesn't work.
