We have seen posts about the Edge-Core WiFi phone keeping disconnecting from the Router / Internet every other minute.

I have an Edge-Core since they were first sold and never had this problem until a few weeks ago. Very strange uh?

I think I found out what is causing it but first some tips and tricks for a better connection.

Router:
- set your Router to one port, the phone software can not handle multiple well.

- assign a specific IP to your phone.

Edge-Core:
- Set TCP IP to Static IP with the asigned IP address in the Router and fill in the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS, etc.

- Firmware 1.0.0.18 is known to work better then later versions but I upgraded to 1.0.0.22 P1 becasue 1.0.0.18 disconnected as well.

- do not leave your phone logged on in the craddle!!! Somehow the craddle is causing the disconnecting too like being too far from your Router.

I hope this helps smile.png

Is that the same cradle that also works for the SMC and the Belkin WIFI?

I wouldn't be surprised, they look very similar.

They are all originated from the same design. Edge-Core is the European version; SMC is the US/Asia version; and Belkin is the Belkin OEM version.

If your router supports it be better way to do a "static" IP assignment is to leave the phone in Dynamic IP mode. then in the router get to the DHCP settings, there may be an option for Dynamic Static IP Assignment. You will need to know the MAC address of the Wifi phone. enter the MAC address into the proper field and the IP you wish to assign in the other. The router will from now on ONLY give that IP address to that device. its removed from the pool of available IPs. The benefit of this is that if your DNS servers ever change, you don't have trouble with the phone, it always gets the current information from the router. I only ever do a real Static IP on devices that never talk to the internet. my secure Access Point, and Network Printer. the rest are Dynamic Statics.
