Hi there.

I'm using Skype buttons on my website to make it possible for one user call to the other party.
Actually all are working well except for one user.
The user uses Mac Skype 2.6 and when she clicks the Skype button (according to her) newest Skype downloading pop-up message (see tha attched) comes up. After a while at the bottom of the pop-up window it says "Done." However, her Skype doesn't change.

With this situation, she cannot make a call to her client.
The latest version of Skype, both for Windows and Mac, seems to have a video-call problem.
How can she use the Skype buttons without using the latest Mac Skype?

I need your help! crying.png

Hi.
I founnd in another forum that Mac Skype don't work with Skype buttons on FireFox.
I cannot understnad why Skype can do this poor coding and premature product launch. We have to use Safari on Mac.

Hi folks,

I'm sorry that you're experiencing this problem. Did you by any chance install Firefox *after* installing Skype?

Ryan.

I've also been testing skype buttons on a Mac and found that with FireFox (2.0.0.14) they link to the "you need skype" page, instead of making a call. Skype (2.7.0.257) was installed after FireFox.

I am having the same issue. I am using the latest versions of Firefox and Skype on a MacBook (running 10.5.2)

When I click the Skype button it says I need to install Skype.

I hope it's possible to get this fixed fairly quickly as it is a fundamental part of my business.

Thanks!

I am having the same issues... Seems like the skypecheck.js file doesn't detect the mac install of skype when browsing and clicking from firefox. In my case the firefox browser was installed before I installed skype...

Help! :-)

Hey, is there a fix for this yet????

Same problem here, wishing for a quick resolution to this issue.

IT IS REALLY UNACCEPTABLE for a multi billion dollar company to leave such a severe bug in their code.

That button is the link from the browser to the application, it does not work on MOST mac setups, and you ignore the thing for months....

The bug makes the person think Skype needs to be reinstalled...so it has a very bad effect also on your reputation, not only on savvy webmasters.

Are other people still getting this error? I'm still getting it on my mac with Skype version 2.7.0.330 installed.

The first post in this thread was in April 2008!

I have been using Skype for work purposes for a long time and have just decided to put a Skype button on my website. I tested it and it doesn't work on my Mac!!!

Skype 2.7
Firefox 3.0.5

When's this problem going to get fixed???

Same problem with Firefox 3.5 and Skype 2.7.0.330.
Is it possible that a huge corporation like Skype pays not attention to a so important bug reported a lot of times on the official community? Which sense has a community if no one listens to our needs?!

Same thing on 9/17/09 under Snow Leopard, FF 3.5.3 and Skype 2.8.0.722. My (awkward) solution on my web pages: edit the button code to delete the offending Javascript; then put text under the button saying "If you don't already have Skype, you can download it here for free" with a link to the download site.

Seems rather bizarre that this hasn't been fixed yet. If Skype would send me the uncompiled script, I'm sure I could get it to work at no charge.

Same Gig here...SKYPE'r button calls up a window for install. I reconnect program via FF> prefs> apps...no go.

That is after I designed around the non transparent button...hmm

Interestingly...I right click and save as Whalla...works.

Thinking of putting a tool tip to identify and make a joke that this is a skype thing makes me look more like a hack then i already am./.]
