Full Version: Can Skype admins remove bogus accounts?

Searching for users in skype me mode returns alot of sex accounts (indecent self intro coupled with a link to a porn site). It creates a very bad user experience for skype enthusiasts like myself who genuinely want to make friends from around the world. For some reason, these accounts are usually found by the search engine first, and so real chatters are bumped off of the list of searched results. I can't imagine the skype admins not being aware of this problem. This situation ultimately hurts skype so I'd think it's in their best interest to eliminate the garbage that is polluting the pool of "skype me" people. So why have these accounts not been removed?

I suppose the reason is that it's hard to control it by software..
But I'm agree with botayone and I'm really surprised that here is no topics about this bothersome trouble. 1 year ago there was quite many fake accounts, but now there is a hellhole of it, it's everythere. Start searching people in skypeme! © mode and you will find just 5% real persons (if u r lucky, and less, if u r not) , and 95% of fake acounts with advertisment of porn.. It's time to do something with it, really.. I understand that it's hard puzzle, but it irritates very much.
At least, I have two advices - maybe block (or hide in search) accounts with urls to spammers sourses (it's easy to definite it, this urls repeats again and again), and maybe block persons, who is in block-lists of 1000 and more skype users?
Yeah, it's not very great solutions, we need something more strong and smart..

Yeah what's up with the no response?! What disappointing apathy.

Everyday now, and sometimes two or three times a day I am getting requests to exchange contact details with bogus/fake users on my Skype client.

These usually have names followed by words relating to sex, and if you accept the invitation, they send you links to suspect sites. worried.png

The latest one to ask for my details was schwule_maenner and it keeps pointing me to http://www.theCam2Cam.com.

This is getting really annoying. I don't have this type of problem with other IM services I use. What's up Skype? angry.png

Unfortunately you can not switch of requests for authorisation. But you can switch off the pop up that advises/requests you have received it.

Niot a full solution but at least its not quite 'in your face'

Hi everyone,

I have the same experience. Normally I am using skype only to call home when I am on businness trips. But sometimes I would just like to chat with someone anywhere on the globe. Checkig "Search only for people in SkypeMe mode" doesn't seem to be useful in any way. All I find around the world is spam for sex-sites.

All of them have one thing in common: their Domain ends with .info

That should be fairly easy to eliminate.
