I upgraded my skype for linux to 2.0.0.63 a week ago, I found it has fixed problem of incomming video will blur after 6 or 7 second . but it has a new problem now which is the incomming video will shrink after 6 or 7 second .

the other side is using windows xp version. I can tell you that skype is getting better and better but still has glitchs in linux: here are the problem

1) the first beta version, video call will drop after 6 or 7 second with my camera's led blinks
2) the 2.0.0.27 version, video call won't drop after 6 or 7 deconds with my camera's led blinks , but the incomming video will blur after 6 or 7 seconds.
3) the 2.0.0.63 version, incomming video won't blur, but instead , the incomming video will shrink to about 1/4 size. which sucks too.

anyone has solutions?

thanks

The video resolution will drop if the bandwidth available or CPU (on both machines, for capturing, compressing, decompressing) isn't up to the task of delivering smooth video.

Could you provide a screenshot of the behaviour you're seeing, then we may be able to help further.

Thanks,
Andrew.

In the screenshot (edited to protect users), the blue area is where the video for "User 2" fills at the beginning of the call. The blurry video is from "User 1". The video for "User 1" never changes in size or quality. The video for "User 2" however, shrinks to roughly the size of the black area in the screenshot and will remain that way for the entire duration of the video-call.
I hope that makes sense. Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently using Skype 2.0.0.68

Thanks for your screenshot yes.png
When you start Skype from the terminal and open the video options what output do you get in the terminal?

The output is as follows:

Starting the process...
Skype Xv: Xv ports available: 1
Skype XShm: XShm support enabled
Skype Xv: Using Xv port 86

Any ideas?
