My problem is with the Skype Prepaid card I purchased from Walmart. I downloaded Skype, created an account, and 2 days later purchased 2 Skype Prepaid cards ($8.85 each) from my local Walmart as stated on the website for "other ways to pay". I clicked on the link to redeem the voucher and entered in the 19 digit number on the back of the card, then entered in the amount of the card (8.85). I then get an error message stating the amount was invalid. I then tried the amount a couple different ways ($8.85, 08.85), which neither worked. On the fourth try, it tells me I can't try again for one day because I've tried unsuccessfully 3 times in a row. After that, I submitted a ticket to Skype Customer Service (couldn't find a phone number and I couldn't find an actual answer in Knowledge Base).

Fast forward to today...I've tried the card twice more with the same results. I'm reluctant to scratch off the pin for the 2nd card, as I would at least like to get credit for it, since I can't even get the first one to work. I'm also reluctant to try the 1st card once more, because it might lock me out for a whole day again.

My question now is this...Does anyone know if Walmart will give me credit for the unused card? And will Skype actually contact me back regarding the one I've already scratched off, which is not working?

I'd really like to use the service, but this isn't really creating a great first impression of what I'm in for. I've been reading a lot of threads where it takes several days to get a response from Customer Service by email, not actually an answer or fix, just a response. I hope that's not the case here.

Any help would surely be appreciated.

Hello jnjrjbc,
Sorry you are having this problem.
The WalMart cards should work without a problem.
Let me have your username and the date you filed your ticket so I can raise the issue with Customer Support.
Yes - you will receive a response - either directly or through me here on the Forum.
Re WalMart giving you credit for the unused card you would need to ask WalMart but before you do let me clarify the general situation with CS first.

I just wanted to post the exact error message I was seeing when trying to redeem the Walmart card. I just tried again a few minutes ago and got the following..."The details you entered have not been recognised. Check voucher or prepaid card data and try again." I entered the prepaid card pin (a 19 digit #), then it changes screens and asks for the amount, which I enter (8.85), and then it gives me the error message mentioned above.

Hopefully that helps a little more when CS takes a look at it.

Similar situation, but somewhat different. On Dec 30 I bought $10.00 (order # 144310786) worth of credit directly from Skype. That should have covered me for Jan, Feb and March, with .88 left over. In Feb I was at Walmart and bought a prepaid card for 8.85 and on Feb 25 (order # 155658055) I cashed in the card at Skype. I figured that the credit would be applied after the previous credit ran out on April 3. The message I keep getting is that I only have .88 credit and I need to buy more.
I should still have the $8.85 credit that I bought on Feb.25
My account name is David.Lydia.

Thank you Sir,

David

The message appears to be correct.
Were you able to redeem the WalMart card successfully?
This card is not Skype credit. It is to renew your Unlimited Calling Plan.
Therefore, it won't add funds to your credit balance but will extend your UCP.

Yes I was able to redeem the card, but its not giving me the time.
Sorry I didn't mean to say I bought credit with the Wal Mart card, I bought Unlimited Calling Time. But Skpe hasn't given me that time.
So what is the solution? Everything else in my previous post stands, with the exception of me using the wrong term (credit) for UCT).

Thanks,

Its been 4 days and no response yet. No solution to the $8.85 that Skype took from me yet is not providing the promised service. It really is unbelievable that an international company can survive with no CUSTOMER SUPPORT.
Its obvious that this forum has not been helpful to help resolve my situation.

Hello David,
I have raised your case with Customer Support and asked for it to be reviewed as soon as possible.

Here is my original support request, filed this morning:

I purchased a $8.85 UCP card at WalMart on 7 April and used it to open my account. I received a receipt (Order # 164564976) and an invoice (A1851946) showing my UCP as "delivered." The UCP also shows up on my account page.

But when I attempt to make a call, I receive the messages "Sorry, call failed!" and "You need Skype Credit to call ordinary phones."

Please fix this immediately.

The unhelpful reply, also this morning:

Hello Jay,

Thank you for contacting Skype Support.

Please note that the voucher you redeemed was for Skype Unlimited Calling Plan not regular SkypeOut credit.

We apologise for the inconvenience

Best regards,

Katri L.
Skype Support

The number attached to the email was 908078-2014761.

I don't think they even read the support requests; every reply seems to be automated. Following my horrible experiences with Skype last summer, you would think I would have learned my lesson and given up on Skype.

Anyone have any ideas?

My fiancee is in Australia and would like to keep in touch.

Attention Moderator,
I have the same problem you people here are having and ....I see no progress in resolving the website problem or ...have you set it up that way?

Today April 13, 2008 at around 11:pm I scratch the card to input the numbers in this website and .... now I see that skype is in need of a better webmaster because those famous PREPAID CARDS DO NOT WORK.
THEY ARE REJECTED THE MOMENT THAT WE CORRECTLY FILL UP THE 3 REQUIRED LINES to redeem them!!

Will you send us a record authorizing the refund at Walmart store so I can get my 20 dollars back please?

I already filled up another contact about this with my information but I guess I must go to the other place you are mentioning below.

I do not like the idea of having to purchase another card when it has reach below 6 dollars since I have already read about other problems here.

I will come back when I get a response. Thanks LV
