Hello,
I'm running Skype 2.0.0.63 on Kubuntu 8.04 testing on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5633WLMi).
I had been using Skype 2.0.0.? on Kubuntu Gutsy, and it worked perfectly even with my webcam (Logitech OrbiCam).
Today I wanted to use it again and did, as usual, a call to the testing service and noticed that the audio quality is really bad, what I say is nearly incomprehensible, and so it's impossible to call anybody.
I haven't changed anything in my audio configuration, and still want to use the integrated microphone.

What should I do?

Reconfigure the sound card. Learn to use alsamixer. Start alsamixer, and play with levels there. Don't leave any level untested.

Try to record your voice with arecord or krecord. If you cannot achieve required quality, skype would not as well.

Quit all sound applications, includind mixer. Start alsamixer. Start skype. Play with levels in alsamixer, and with "Allow skype to automatcally adjust mixer levels" button of skype.
