Full Version: bad video quality

Dear developers,

From 2.0.0.13 version of Skype till now 2.0.0.63, I have 3 main problems:

1. CPU usage during video call is almost 100%
2. Picture from my web camera is too dark
3. Picture from my web camera is with bad quality (please see attached file)

Tested PC's:

My PC is with following configuration:
Intel Pentium IV 3.0GHz
RAM DDR 1GB
Video: NVIDIA 7300GT DDR3 256MB/128bit with updated latest video driver
OS: Mandriva 2008 Free (same with Mandriva 2007 and KUBUNTU)
kernel: 2.6.22.12-desktop-1mdv

Second PC is with following configuration:
Intel Celeron 2.8GHz
RAM DDR 512MB
Video: NVIDIA 7300GT DDR2 256MB/128bit with updated latest video driver
OS: Mandriva 2008 Free (same with Mandriva 2007 and KUBUNTU)
kernel: 2.6.22.9-1mdv

Third PC is with following configuration:
Intel Celeron 3.4GHz
RAM DDR 1GB
Video: ATI Radeon 9290 128MB/128bit with updated latest video driver
OS: Mandriva 2008 Free (same with Mandriva 2007 and Kubuntu)
kernel: 2.6.22.12-1mdv

All PC's have same model web camera: Logitech quickcamchat Vendor ID: ‎0x046d and use GSPCA driver (tested with all versions, currently gspcav1-20071224)

Regarding my problems:
1. "CPU usage during video call is almost 100%" - after version 2.0.0.27 (If I'm not wrong) CPU usage is ~ 60-70% and for me this is acceptable
2." Picture from my web camera is too dark" I found solution here in forum to adjust gamma=4 to get more bright picture

Unfortunately till now I cant find solution for bad video quality from my web camera (please see attached file) even in this final 2.0.0.63 version. In all other applications Ekiga, Camorama, Openwengo and etc... and even in Skype for Windows picture is perfect in all resolutions and bandwidth conditions.

So my question is what I must do to have good quality picture in Skype for Linux? Quality of remote web camera is perfect, but remote user see my video and video from other 2 tested PC's with quality shown on attached picture.

Best regards,

Any ideas?

I just want to join to the above-mentioned facts. I have the same three problems, and, in addition, the sound is usually broken, when video is on (from my side).
When I use Skype in Windows XP, everything works fine.
