I have just purchased a Sony Vaio laptop with Vista and find that anytime I have a site or document with telephone numbers in it, the telephone numbers appear momentarily and then disappear. Fax numbers don't. I can get them to reappear if I go out and back into the site but just for a second and then they disappear again. I checked on the Vista site and someone says it has to do with having the Skype toolbar activated. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a Vista bug or a Skype bug? Is there a solution?
Thanks, Barbara
I tried removing Skype from my Yahoo toolbar and it does seem to work but the problem is that each time I close out and then go back to the Internet (with Yahoo as my home page) Skype comes back into the toolbar. Is there a way to keep this from happening and why is this causing the disappearing telephone number act?

I have been having this problem for months, with no solution. It seems that the problem is Skype. I have emailed them but, for some unknown reason, they choose not to respond.

Are there any updates to how to get rid of the disappearing telephone numbers permanently?

the problem is due to a skype add-on that should allow you to click
numbers straight into skype but instead, on some vista machines makes
numbers dissapear. Try to disable your skype add-on in explorer (Tools
> manage add-ons> unclick or disable skype add-on (mastermind). It
worked for me.
had to restart explorer

Disabling the Skype Add-ons is NOT the only thing that gets fixed.
Because the Skype Add-on is constantly scanning for phone numbers, for me (Vista and iEplorer 7), typing an Email became an excruciating experience because letters that I was typing would get missed because of the delay by the scanning.
Disabling the Skype Add-ons fixes this too.
