My company has a skypein number for the entire company. Each employee has a skype account. I would like to have a virtual switch board where based on the caller's phone number (caller ID), the incoming call to the skypein number will be switched to the corresponding employee's skype account. The mapping between the caller ID and the employee skype ID needs to be set up dynamically. Right before the caller makes the call, our server will map the caller's ID to the employee Skype ID. Can your system accept a message with the mapping between caller ID and employee skype ID on the fly via an IP connection, and switch the incoming phone call accordingly?

Thank you so much!

Hi RainbowRiver,

Thanks for your enquiry.

Skype itself does not have the functionality that you require. It sounds like you have needs similar to a call center, directing different calls to different people base on criteria (in your case Caller ID).

However, I would suggest you have a look at On-State - ACD (Automatic Call Distribution) They have comprehensive solutions for Skype that very well could be what you are looking for.

Good luck,

Wilhelm

Hi RainbowRiver,

Any good luck?

In my lab, it seems that the Caller ID of a SkypeIn call is not stable. So I'm courious about ACD's work: Can it actually detect and retrieve caller ID correctly from a incoming SkypeIN call?

The issue of CallerID is not so clear at present, maybe Skype should clarify this for us.

BTW, I don't like the attitude of Skype facing about some feature request from Biz customers, such as DTMF, CallerID,...etc. I'd like to know what features on earth are listed on Skype's product roadmap?

Please check into Skype "Knowledgebase" for issues such as SkypeIN and Caller ID:Which SkypeIn numbers do not support caller identification?

They do have very clear answers, although not what you like.

So, your doubt about ACD is legitimate and Mr. RainbowRiver may be out of luck no.png . Cheers!

Sorry, a re-post for the previous mistake with hyperlink.

You may check out PrettyMay Call Center for Skype, with it, you can set up a Skype based Phone System depend on your SkypeIn number. your customers can dial in the phone system using their cell phone/mobile phone, and PrettyMay will route the call to your employee's skype account.

How can PrettyMay switch SkypeIN based on caller ID if none is available, according to the Skype "Knowledgebase":

Which SkypeIn numbers do not support caller identification?

Please be sure not to over-promote your product and waste other people's time hi.png .

The article you are reffering to shows that you can not set your SkypeIN number as Caller ID when calling with SkypeOut. However if you call a SkypeIN number from a normal PSTN phone, the callers number will be shown correctly and from what I tested the incoming CallerID is always shown even from those countries which are listed in the article.

So the On-State ACD or the PrettyMay application should work correctly for RainbowRiver

Thanks for the pointers to some of the existing products out there. I will give it a try...
