Hi;

I bought the philips 321 phones -- two together in a single package because it seemed convenient to have one upstairs and one downstairs. But much to my consternaition, it turns out that when I answer the phone upstairs and call out to my wife it's for her, she can't speak on the phone downstairs. Only one of the two phones works at a time.

I don't know if this is a "privacy feature" that can be turned off, or just another crappy design from philips.

Any ideas?

have you confirmed this limitation in your manual or with philips themselves?

seems strange to me...........I guess it is a DECT thing, one way or the other

I am facing another problem with the same phone (philips 321).
While installing, everything seems to go OK, but While I'm traying to change the audio input and uotput to the phone - it does not appears as an option.
When I check the device manager- the philips voip321 appears with a yellow question mark.
Another round of uninstalling and reinstalling- does not solve the problem.
Anyone help?!

your problem is with the drivers for the phone, not with Skype

sometimes the phone drivers do not get installed correctly if the phone is physically plugged in before the installer software is run

Did you get your computer to recognize your Philips VOIP321? I have the same problem- switched to a new computer with Vista and I cannot get the phone (which worked perfect with XP) to function with Vista. I did the deinstall and reinstall thing and updated drivers, etc- all to no avail. Philips was no help (at least the guy I talked to)- if you got it to work, please share your success.

Thanks!

It doesn't appear that you can, but if you check the manual that comes on the cd supplied, it mentions that you can transfer the call to another handset. Put in the cd and go to the SetupWizard/Docs directory and you will see many Adobe manuals in there. Go to the "Using the Intercom" section and you'll see how to transfer an external call to another handset. It might not be exactly what you wanted, but it is a workaround. Good luck.

It is possible that the handset is doing the call encryption and not the base station so you would have to transfer it rather than just pick up the other handset.

Hello,

I have read about a lot of users unable to get their Philips VOIP 321 phone to work on Windows VISTA.
I bought mine two days ago and ran into the same problem. The phone was not recognized and the installation program didn't finish. I just couldn't get my VOIP 321 to work on VISTA

The driver simply didn't install and the VOIP 321 did not work in Windows VISTA.

Than I tried following:

I connected the VOIP 321 Basestation via an external powered 4 port USB-hub to my computer instead of direct to the computer and to my suprise the phone was recognized and the software installed without any problems.

My VOIP 321 is now working without any problems on Windows VISTA.

Regards,

Smittie

Whereas I went the exact opposite way - I had it all working, then I

a. bought a new 7-port hub;
b. connected the VOIP321 base station to it;
c. promptly forgot I'd done it.

Just spent a day trying to work out why I could see my contacts and make calls, but couldn't see the Voip321 as a sound device, so any call I made using the handset actually activated the USB headset instead.

Unplugged from the hub, plugged back into the port it was in originally, and now all is sweetness and light again.

Like I said - opposite of Smittie!

Tell you what though - I did find a heck of a lot of Registry entries left behind, even after I'd uninstalled the VOIP321 stuff (Left them alone, though)... Dunno if that's normal for USB devices...

and Back to the Original Topic - the "Using the Intercom" section of the manual (at least in my version of it) says how to transfer the call and/or conference the other phone into an external call - isn't that what the OP wanted?
