After upgrading from 2.0.0.27 to 2.0.0.43, starting a video call will crash skype when the video is received from the other end.

I'm using ATi's radeon 7500 mobility, which has only one Xv-port. The camera is Creative Notebook Pro with GSPCA driver. The console output looks like this (from skype start to a crash when calling videoecho123):

---
Skype Xv: Xv ports available: 1
Skype XShm: XShm support enabled
Skype Xv: Using Xv port 73
Starting the process...
Skype Xv: Xv ports available: 0
Skype XShm: XShm support enabled
Aborted
---

If I have my own view enabled, I see myself correctly, but the video from other end appears in rather weird colors. If the own view is disabled, I see the other end's picture correctly just before skype crashes.

What's your fglrx driver version? You might try updating it.

That chip isn't supported by fglrx, so I'm using X.org's 'radeon' driver.

After experimenting further, I noticed that the same crash happens also with other x.org's build-in drivers. I tried Radeon and Via, and Skype crashes at the same exact point. With more than 1 Xv port the crash does not occur.

The tested systems were Debian Etch.

Can you let me know you v4l-info output with this camera?

Thanks,

I also have Live! Cam optia on my desktop (which has NVidia graphics adapter), and it works perfectly. I tried the same camera on this laptop (which again has older mobility radeon, only supported by the 'radeon' driver), and it causes the same kind of crash. My parents also own one Live! Cam optia, and their machine uses xorg's Via-driver, which crashes Skype similarly to my laptop.

It might be helpful to let you know that I am observing similar (crash on video call with 2.0.0.43 ) behaviour.

During a video call, the received video window is a small window of varied blue/white-noise colour and no discernable image. Any attempt to enlarge the window crashes both the call and Skype. The other (remote) party can see my video clearly from start of the call. Audio works very well until crash. Itis easy to reproduce in case you need me to collect particular information to assist.

I am testing with an EPIA PE10000G MiniITX motherboard, Mandriva 2008 distro, Logitech Pro 9000 cam.

I'm truthfully amazed (and grateful) that many clever and talented technicians have advanced the software so well already.
If any of the debug data from my system might also be helpful to solving the root cause, then pls let me know.
