Hi there Zedster!

Sorry to hear about your many problems with Bluetooth and headsets!

The source of your problem seems to be your ISSC dongle ("rubbish cheapo make") that does simply not work very well with Widcomm drivers - I did som Googling and came to this thread on another site: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread...ad.php?t=187115 - you do not seem to be the only one fighting with the ISSC dongle

Before doing anything radical, however, I suggest that you take a look at the sound devices in the control panel to see if Bluetooth is avaliable under "sound units", as it might solve your problem simply to select Bluetooth audio as the standard unit for sound recording...

Best wishes!
Anders

Hi there,

I´ve got a similar problem. Using headset Logitech and a Belkin Dongle I found sometimes it´s working (especially after rebooting),and after changing the default audio driver in the audio panel to my Audigy, it´s working in the way you are mentioning here ( hearign sound but micro is not working)

You can be sure I already tried very settings ( micro, audio, hardware...) but cant figure out whats the reason of this.

I rather would like to use both by changing: audigy and bluetooth . (It´s working perfect by a USB headset)

Does anybody have an idea why this is not function ? Version Widcom 1.4.2.8.

Hi everyone,
interesting: I have the same hardware (Logitech H02, Belkin F8t001). My Problem is that the microphone shuts off after some random time. I just don't understand why. I use XP SP2. First I used Widomm 1.4.2.10 as deliverd by belkin. there the whole audio would shut off after some time. When I lsitened to sound files in winamp, winamp would just freeze. I now tried these 4.x drivers, and the audio works, but , as i said, the microphone shuts off after some time. The headset works fine on my cell phone. Also Skype works perfectly with a regular headset.
I spent so muchg time on this now. Starting with an IOgear311 dongle which has lots of cracking (somebody in this thread had the same problem with IOGear 211-- it's the dongle, buddy: it only works up to 50°C) Also I exchanged my headsets from Plantronics m3000 to logitech HS02. Both worked fine. The headset itself is just not the issue.
Also I renamed that microsoft bt driver file, so that's done (I do have the RIGHT BT "B"). I only allow bt services audio gateway and headset. I tried allowing only headset, didn't make a difference.

Somebody has an idea how I can fix my problem: microphone shuts off after random time (2-5min)???

thanks
derchefkoch_
btw, in the control panel there's still also the microsoft bt thing to be seen. In the device manager however there's only the "Belkin Bluetooth Device"

Is that ok?
byps_
@derchefkoch and to my post,

after trying I figured that it´s working OK when you don´t install the "audiogateway".
MAybe this also is the reason for some other problems you might compare with the above problems.

just try to delete and reinstall without "audiogateway". For me it worked.

Yes - that is no problem! I have now added a note pointing that out in my original post - thanks!

Hi "Byps"!

Thanks for the advice! I have had that feeling for a while, but it is good to get it confirmed. I have now added your recommendation to my original post and I suggest that people who still have problems with their BT headsets try out this trick and post their experiences here - it might be the solution to many of the more persistent headset problems we hear about!

Thanks!

after hours trying to get my BT to work with skype i found thy post an now it WORKS FINE, BIG THX.

but i have one question:
i have a Plantronics M3000 and the Allnet ALL1574 usb dongle and i can't start or end calls with the buttons on my headset.

is this a problem of the headset or have i configured something wrong?
zedster_
Yeah, it's not meant to work with it at the moment, someone needs to code a plugin so that skype can use the call button, normally on my headset (M2500) it connects and disconnects the headset from the computer...

Glad it worked for you!
derchefkoch_
didn't work for me. I deinstalled the widcomm drivers, and then reinstalled it only using the headset service. But the problem remains unchanged: after some time my microphone shuts off.

@zedster: where did you order that x-micro dongle? Can't find an approriate online-shop. I might give that a try...
zedster_
Yeah i just searched for ebay heh, got it for about 16quid (uk) inc p+p, should get it tomorrow hopefully, or, this morning bigsmile.png

I'll let you guys know as soon as i get something to work and if it was the problem, if not then i'll not be a happy bunny!

Hi there!

Just want to draw your attention to this post, which seems to link to a "magic" Bluetooth driver that works: http://forum.skype.com/viewtopic.php?t=19221

(I have not tested it myself, but the guy seems pretty happy with it!)

Good luck,
Anders

HAZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, all those hours paid off, it was my rubbish bluetooth issc dongle that was the problem, got my x-micro dongle now with latest 4.1.0.700 or something drivers, and all is working fine and dandy!!

o/ celebrate!!!

thank you millions to everyone in this thread, i shall stay about trying to help people too.

I just bought a Sitecom BT dongle (CN-500). It comes with a really nice install; just select the Headset service, pair once (remember PIN) and no worries ever again. cool.png

I can even listen to WinAMP while calling over Skype. I did not change my Windows sound settings, only my Skype headset setting.

I activated my bluetooth headset (Jabra bt250v) with my bluetooth dongle (Billionton class 1), and things work quite well. I can move around in my flat and still have a conversation with "Echo123". But, there was an annoying problem... Then I came upon this thread after using the Search function...

You write the following:
"Only downside - I have to repeat step 10 above (only) before I start using the Bluetooth headset after each reboot of my PC, but I can then use it for any number of consecutive calls (until battery runs out after 6 hours!). "

I have a hard time accepting the above. I'd much rather press the bt call button when a call comes in, and then accept the Skype call by clicking the Skype phone icon. Just seems stupid having the headset in active mode, due to the battery needs. I'd prefer the stand by time, as it's over 200 hours.

Your solution works, but setting the headset in stand by-mode and then reactivating the active mode renders the first call useless, as the output from my Skype is massive noise. Deactivating active mode, and then activating it again, seems to cure things, but it's an annoyance...

What causes it, and what is the solution?

I recently bought the I/OGear GBU-301 USB Bluetooth dongle and encountered some of the problems you mention here. I now have it working but:

1. If you just plug in the dongle prior to installing the I/OGear drivers (1.4.2.10), you will activate the MS Bluetooth drivers and create a situation that does not allow the I/OGear drivers to install properly.

2. In spite of this warning, out of habit, I plugged in the dongle prior to installing the drivers. And, of course, I could not get my Bluetooth to even start to locate Bluetooth services.

3. I then searched for solutions on Google and the I/O Gear website; finally I found a reference to a MS KnowledgeBase item (314634) which provided a solution to the problem described above. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;en-us;Q314634.

At the end you will find a comment that explains what really is happening and why you have to establish priority for the (unsigned) 3rd party Bluetooth drivers over the (signed) MS Bluetooth drivers by installing drivers properly before physically plugging in the Bluetooth USB dongle.

(Note this KB item was written Oct. 19, 2004 well before this thread started. When I find error messages from installs, it often helps to just put the whole error message into Google (or MSN Search, etc.) to assist in locating an explanation and/or resolution to the problem. I was able to locate this item within my first hour of searching.)

Hope this helps; you may want to work some of the information in this KB item into your inital posting explaining how to resolve the problem.

Help !!!!!

I've followed this thread and tried both the methods listed but with no joy.

I have a Jabra BT200 headset and am using WinXP SP2 on a Sony Vaio Z1XSP laptop with built in Bluetooth.

When looking and the device manager, I only had the generic MS enumerator plus a generic USB......no others.

I had previously uninstalled BluespaceNE as recommeded in one of the threads

Thanks,

Hi

I have a Belkin USB Bluetooth Adapter F8T001uk (have also tried an F8T003uk) and an Belkin Bluetooth Headset (F8T063uk) which I am trying to use with a Dell Dimension 4500 running WinXP pro with SP2.

Everything installs OK, I disable the Microsoft Drivers and update the driver to Widcomm without any problems. I can even use Skype and call someone.

The problem that is driving me crazy is that as soon as you reboot the PC everything stops working. All Bluetooth devices disappear. They cannot be detected and there is nothing in device manager. No blue flashing light on the adapter, nothing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated (hopefully there is more to it than "its a Dell")

Thanks in advance

I tried following your procedure but unfortunately it is still not working on my machine. For some reason the driver btwusb.inf was not accepted.

I am about to cry a river here.

I have a Jabra 250 BTHS, a Cadmus "Class one" BT doggle and a hp NC6000 notebook.

I have installed the hp driver update from

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/generic...item=ob-24183-1

and for the doggle (which is the same as the CD) as well.

Have updated the drivers, disabled the MS BT driver. Rebooted.

Right now, I find only the generic USB radio. Nothing else.

In another window, it managed to detect my BT HeadSet & my phone (as some external modem).

Now I have no idea now to pair the entire setup
a06724_
Finally, after 8 hrs of headace. It works !!!

What did wrong ?

I uninstall everything bluetooth and installed the HP BT driver.

And took things to test.

Activated the laptop's own BT device.

Selected the headset profile. The BT icon turned from red to white !!!

It works !!!

However the audio quality is horrible, need to improve on this.

Isn't it possible to run bluetooth headset via the bluetooth facility that is already in all the new laptops?

why do we need to buy a redondand bluetooth hardware such as USB dongle? it sounds weird....

Sony notebooks must be using the same hardware as MS. They don't support the headset and/or audio gateway profiles.

Go to this website.

http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-p-n.pl

Enter model number e.g. VGNS270 on the RHS

Under Knowledge Base section enter Bluetooth software

On pop-up window, leave it as it is, i.e. Bluetooth software on step 1, leave step 2 as No and click Search.

Click on the link

Everything works fine till point 8.

There is no option for audio gateway neither headset profile.
My Jabra bt 200 is seen connected as "headset" in the bluetooth devices,
Favoris BluetoothTout Bluetooth NeighborhoodJABRA BT200
but it does not appear in any choice of skype nor "audio hardware" in ntrol panel.

8 ) Activate Bluetooth on your PC and pair with your headset according to the manual (quite simple but it takes a few steps). Experience shows that it is strongly adviced not to activate the "audio gateway" profile, but only the "headset" profile. If you know that you need other profiles for e.g. file sharing over BT or other stuff, then do activate those profiles, but keeping it to a minimum will surely minimize the risk of setup errors!

Hi thx for the guide.
Just wanna noe the point that u mentioned to disable audio gateway is just to make the headset able to connect? It doesnt matter If i hav successfully connected my headset right?

I got my headset to work but ther's a slight problem. My friends are using the normal wired headset+microphone which their microphone is very near their mouth. Therefore their settings for volume is about the same and whereas if i use my Bluetooth headset my microphone is soft to them (coz it's further from my mouth smile.png ). I dont seems to be able to change the volume of the BT microphone...I tried sliding the microphone bar in volume control of windows but it will fall back to its original microphone level. Any suggestions? smile.png

Got the new Dell Latitude D810 notebook with XP-Pro SP2 along with Bluetooth, it is a Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal Card (the settings say Version "v3.03.02(D) copyright Toshiba".

As the headset I am using the Logitech Freedom which works perfectly with my Sony Ericsson T630 but when I use Skype I regularly have distorted connections.

Has anyone an idea what is wrong here resp. how to cope with that?
RizzzO_
Hey all!

Thanx for all the info...

I got a logitech bluetooth headset, downloaded IVT bluesoleil for my old Switel bluetooth adapter, works like a charm!

Only 1 problem remains: After a call, all windows sound outputs though the headset. Why is that? Shouldn't the headset only be activated as a sound device within skype? It's no fun to watch a movie on a bluetooh headset...

I use Windows Xp Pro SP1.

Advice is greatly appreciated....

Apart from the major troules I have within Skype (distorted connects) I have the same "behaviour" as you mentioned - as soon as the headset is connected it behaves like the standard audio output device.

this really helped me out.

i've been trying to get bluetooth sync to work on my dad's ipaq for months! was using an MSI adapter on XP and was stuck here for a very long while as i did not realise it had not installed properly. am not sure if its the installer or the accompanying widcomm or just the hardware. then i tried another adapter - asante fbt100. and if not for your reassuring steps that it would work, i would have been stumped again and would probably have given up as i had almost tried everything this last month.

god darnnit, bluetooth should come with a label "achtung! warning! sure to be a pain in the ass and if you get me to work, its only cos i got you to work a thousand times harder first" thanks, ander!

fyi, if anyone wants the asante fbt100 installation files, they dont seem to support it very much. anyway, got this off their forum boards so it'll save you an hour or so scouring it elsewhere: ftp://ftp.asante.com/drivers/Bluetooth/FBT100/

The SkypeHeadset is a Windows system tray application running on the Widcomm stack. The application was fully tested with Widcomm version 1.4.2, 1.4.3 and 3.0. We have tested SkypeHeadset with Plantronics, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Jabra, Logitech, Siemens and Nokia headsets on Windows 2000 and XP (SP1 and SP2).

If you would like to know more about the application visit http://www.skypeheadset.co.uk
JimCanuck_
I have successfully used SkypeHeadset with a Motorola HS820 BT headset and an I/O Gear GBU-301 USB BT dongle. I would draw the following to your attention:

- SkypeHeadset uses an Audio Gateway service that is independent of the Audio Gateway supplied by the USB BT dongle. Also note that only one Audio Gateway can be running on the PC at a given time, so the Audio Gateway associated with the USB dongle must be disabled when using SkypeHeadset.

- For Skype purposes, one can also ignore the Headset service that comes with the USB dongle. (Since it seems to be the Audio Gateway that gets you access to the PC's audio out, I am now wondering why there is a Headset service available?)
kmeva2003_
SkypeHeadset behaves like an Audio Gateway but it is not an Audio Gateway (AG) in true sense. Therefore you can run both the AG from Widcomm and SkypeHeadset.

Without the SkypeHeadset you will normally click the multi-function button to initiate the connection to the PC. The AG intercepts the call and builds the audio service for your headset. Note:Some headsets send the call to initiate the connection when you open the flap or when you turn the power on.

With the SkypeHeadset you turn the power on your headset. SkypeHeadset will initiate the connection to the headset and allow you to control Skype. Widcomm does not allow device sharing. Therefore the AG in widdcomm will lock the headset that initiates a connection on powering or on opening. If you have one of these headsets and to get SkypeHeadset to recognise them you need to disengage the headset from Widcomm by two ways clearly explained in the user manual. 1) Click the multi-function button once. 2) Disable the AG service in Widcomm.

Please help....

I have a logitech headset and belkin dongle. I have installed the dongle and paired the headset following the installation instructions. However:

1. When I follow the instructions given in AMP's initial post, I do not have the Widcomm driver under "Bluetooth radio" in the device manager, only the microsoft driver. Under "blutooth radio" I get two options:
a. Belkin bluetooth adapter; and
b. microsoft bluetooth enumerator
The blekin option (under drivers/driver details) shows microsoft as the driver author and trying to update just asks me for the CD.
2. The dongle DOES come with widcomm 3.0.1x but it is installed under "non plug and play devices" "bluetooth protocol stack"
3. I have checked the CD and license agreement and the driver on the CD is definately widcomm - it just wont instal in the right place...????

I cant seem to work out how to get the widcomm driver out of non plug and play and into "bluetooth radio". When I disable the microsoft driver, the dongle stops working completely.

I maybe overlooking the obvious, but I am out of ideas here.....

i have been following all given instruction by you in the forum though they are not meant for laptops with builtin bluetooth..
Also have followed the instruction in the another section in the forum trying to run the command but i get no .inf file there but all bth files are in .pnf.
i have downloaded toshiba, xmicro files from the internet and tried all permitations and combinations to remove the microsoft drivers and load the widcomm drivers but couldnt do it..
on the builtin bluetooth when i try updating the drivers to widdcomm i dont see available extra drivers in the list as it happens when i use a xmicro external hardware.(this too even after loading doest let me open the bluetooth neighborhood icon and freezes my maschine for sometime after which it says no bluetooth hardware available.)
anyway i would still prefer using my internal bluetooth hardware for comfort sake if u really help me.
Important is that i am using a sony vaio t140p with built in bluetooth and have no microphone builtin so making a quick skype call becomes virtually impossible...if i get a solution step by step from you then i can save more then 1300 pounds as i am thinking of changing this laptop itself even though i love it for getting to use skype with a bluetooth headset...

I have finally got the headset working. To all those still trying, I can make the following suggestions:

1. Uninstal everything.
2. Start again using the original CD of your dongle but DO NOT plug in the dongle until you are asked to by the installation process. I think this was my original problem - by plugging the dongle in too early, the microsoft driver was given priority and no amount of playing around would fix the problem. I also then had license problems (see the post from kNIGit - posted on page two of this thread).
3. I also tried using the toshiba stack, x-micro driver, and the driver suggested by kNIGit all to no avail. When I tried to update the driver per AMP's original post point 7, I found I did not have the btwusb.inf file at all!
4. You should do this:
a. Uninstal
b. Reinstall following the installation instructions exactly.
c. Go to device manager
d. If you have "bluetooth radio" instead of "bluetooth device" , use the instruction found at www.skypeheadset.co.uk/support (thanks kmeva2003). After following those instructions you should have "bluetooth device listed in device manager.
e. disable the microsoft device (as per AMP's first post point 6).
f. From device manager, double click the bluetooth device, click on "drivers" and check whether the driver provider is still microsoft. If it is, click update driver and use the instructions in my point drink.png again ie as per the PDF found in skypeheadset.co.uk/support again.

You should now have the blue and white bluetooth icon in your taskbar.

Right click on this or on the bluetooth icon on your desktop and follow the instructions for configuring your headset. I set up the headset profile ONLY.

Now when your right click on the taskbar icon and "start bluetooth device" , the icon should go blue and white (make sure you turn on the headset first). Right click the taskbar icon again, select "quick connect", "headset". You should hear the connection tone in the headset. Use the headset instructions to answer the call and you should be connected.

Change your skype options under headset to bluetooth for audio out and in and test using the echo123 call.

I found that the headset works for any audio from the PC, including music match juke box but if you start the program while the headset is enabled, you cannot then use the PC speakers again until exiting the program and restarting without bluetooth enabled.

You can however start a skype call, then start bluetooth, change the audio settings and you can change from PC speakers to the headset mid call.

Hope this helps someone - I spent 2 days trying to work it out!!!

Now I will try the skypeheadset program ... what is the point of being mobile if you cant start or end calls remotely also.

Call quality was satisfactory using skypeout up to a distance of about 5 metres, going through a window and wall and about 8 metres line of sight.

Thnaks to all those who posted various suggestions as I could not have done this on my own.

I use the Jabra BT250 headset/Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter, 100-meter F8T001 combination with a Windows XP SP2 PC when using Skype. The sound is crystal clear and everyone I talk to remarks how clear I sound. I'm very happy except for one small inconvenience which I hope someone can help solve.

In preparation for using Skype 1.2.0.37, both the Audio In and Audio Out are set to Bluetooth Audio. After booting the PC, the headset is manually connected. At this point, the Windows sound playback device is still the PC's sound card, which is what I want.

To answer or make a call using Skype, I press the answer button, the one with the handset icon, on the Jabra BT250. The problem occurs when I end the call by pressing the BT250's answer button again. Two things happen; first, the Bluetooth headset disconnects from the PC, second, the Windows sound playback default device is switched to Bluetooth audio. Re-establishing the headset/PC connection is easy but it’s getting a little annoying resetting the sound playback default device every time after using the headset.

Any suggestions?

Hi ,

i read the threads carefully and managed to get the darkblue bluetooth icon .
i managed to disable the MS bluetooth driver.

if i put my stick in, the bluetooth symbol turns blue .
i managed to connect my bluetooth headset ( B-speech by vitac)
to get connected as a headset device to my acer stick.

if i have it near my lab, the bluetooth symbol gets blue/green.

So far so good, now comes the weird thing. I can not hear , and nobody can hear me.

i checked windows audio settings. there is now a new profile : Bluetooth Audio.

if i check the micro there again is something weird : ONLY LINE-IN ???
why there ist a line-in ? there should be something like Bluetooth MIC right?

i could kill all the people who are working , especially ACER for not updating their bluetooth drivers for their sticks.
bluetooth is a nice thing if it is working, but make one mistake and you have the hell on earth sadsmile.png

i hope you can help me, i am just totally stressed by this bull*****.

thx DP !

Hi,

I have tried everything listed on this forum and other sites to get Skype to work with the Logitech Freedom Headset and my laptop. The laptop has built in Bluetooth but this did not have Headset Profile available and had the generic Microsoft Bluetooth Radio drivers installed. After speaking to Sony and Logitech I still got nowhere. I then downloaded software from AveLinkBT which claims to work with all headsets and has been tested with many. However, once I connect the headset, it only connects via the Audio Gateway (there is nothing relating to Headset Profile). I then start Skype, try the test call and the headset either loses the bluetooth connection of crashes Bluetooth which I have to restart. Can any one help otherwise my only option is to return the headset

Thanks

Bobbi
