I have a Treo wireless Headset + Dell x300. I was able to connect the headset with bluetooth and followed all instructions. The Dell has an internal bluetooth module and said driver provider Widcomm, driver version 3.0.1.804.
But, after all steps I am not able to connect to Skype, I am not reveiving any sound. I am not sure if the problems are the drivers, where can I find them?

I have just bought a Sony Ericsson HBH-600 headset. On my Mac PowerBook with OSX Tiger everything just worked right out of the box... bigsmile.png

On Windows XP it took me a day to find the simple solution... lipssealed.png

To make a long story short: If you have an HP notebook with built-in Bluetooth, then download and install the bluetooth drivers from the HP web site. Most Bluetooth 1.2 compliant headsets will then probably work after you have set up your headset with the Bluetooth control panel and used the Sound and Audio Devices control panel to select the Bluetooth device for input and output.

Go to the HP web site, click on Software & Driver Downloads, enter your computer type (e.g. nx7010), choose the operating system (e.g. XP Professional), chose category "Driver-Network", "Support Software for Bluetooth by hp". This upgrade was released 29 Aug 04.

Hi there!

Thinking of buying a bluetooth headset to use with Skype and my Windows XP PC (and possibly also sometimes with my IPAQ pocket PC) and wondering if pretty much any bluetooth headset should work, or are there some specific features or specifications it will need to have? For example, there's some great prices for bluetooth headsets currently for us in in the UK at http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Bluetooth-Headse...s---Accessories but not sure which - if any - I should choose. Excluding colour variations they seem to have 3 different models: BT-H2-C, BT-H3-T and the BT-H4-T, but I'm not sure which would be best or what specifics I need to look for.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Hi AMP.

Yes I downloaded and installed the most recent driver from Dell. Now the message that I receive is "Service Headset is not found on device"

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

When I call my parents back home, both of them get on the line (I call them using SkypeOut). I want to set-up Skype on their PC but am wondering if they can still both get on the line with their own bluetooth headsets (one for each).

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Bruno

I've tried to do the instructions listed on page one and i'm having serious problems...

i'm using a Microsoft (branded) 2.0 USB doggle which came with my microsoft elite bluetooth desktop set.

Is this my major problem?

i also can't seem to figure out how "disable" a bluetooth radio profile (Step 6).

when i get that step and i find the profiles on my device manager, i right click it and i have no option of disabling it.

Which one do i pick? i have two Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and Microsoft Wireless transceiver.

in which i tried to skip the disabling step anyways to see if i can do the next step and update drivers, but XP stops me again saying that the hardware profile can't be found in the file i had picked (the *.inf tried in both my "/patch download i got and the /IBM/Bluetooth/bin dir that was installed).

lastly, will i be able to reinstall my intellimouse/type software to gain full access of all the optional keys?

please help

Hi,

is there a chance to get the headset conencting with my computer without the widcomm stack?
I use the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack to connect to my mobile and my pda and it works great without any problems... I'm afraid of getting problems with these 2 devices when I remove the Microsoft stack and install Widcomm again :-/ (Alread turned me crazy in a few days with this problem)

Thanks and Regards

YES - at present, there is no way to make a BT headset work with Microsoft hardware or drivers. All you can do is to get yourself a non-MS BT dongle or wait for Microsoft to come up with headset support (which I suppose won't last ages, as MS is always fast to incorporate technologies once adopted by "critical mass")...

Sorry!

There is no way to make a BT headset work with the Microsoft BT drivers - you'll have to go for Widcomm or Bluesoleil. But I can easily understand your worries, so maybe you should consider if you really need that wireless headset...?

Sorry to have kept you waiting! I have no idea what you should do about this message (other than keep trying), so I was hoping that some one else in here had solved the same problem and could post a solution :?
Have you tried searching the Dell website or Google for a hint?

i can't believe it won't let me use other drivers either... to fix this problem...

Although the complete bundle is more expensive than the prices you have seen for just Bluetooth Headsets you will pay for what you get

Anybody, have a non-biased answer to this??

A few things that are important:

How long is the boom therefore how close to the mouth is the microphone
How good is the echo cancellation and therefore how well will the microphone react in noisy environments
What is the Dynamic Frequency of the headset the higher the better
What is the Bluetooth version 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 or 2.0?
Power consumption in standby and usage how long will it last without recharging?
What comes in the box with the headset?

Hope this helps to compare

Do you mind giving those same parameters for the XCommunicator4? The headset/dongle combination sounds very good, but looking the web page I didn't find details of those same parameters that you suggest we compare.

I have been unsucessful in getting a Plantronics 510 and the nw8240 notebook to work together. Here are some of the facts:
- Windows XP SP2.
- HP Bluetooth drivers (based on Widcomm 4.0.1.600) installed and operating properly - I've connected to a Bluetooth GPS ok.
- I've tried two different Plantronics 510 headsets with the same results.
- The Plantronics headset does work ok with a Jabra R210 Bluetooth adapter (let's you use headsets with non-Bluetooth phones and other devices).
- The headset pairs OK with the computer and shows up in the Bluetooth places.
- The computer indicates that it is properly connected with the headset (see following)

When I attempt to connect from the Bluetooth places, the icon changes to connected, and the headset beeps (incoming call). At this point, if I open the Status dialog on the Bluetooth Places, it shows 8 bytes of data being sent to the headset everytime it beeps. When I press the call/answer button on the headset to connect, 6 additional bytes of data are sent and 12 bytes of data are received. Both the headset and the computer indicate they are connected.

However, no additional bytes are sent or received and no audio is heard on the headset.

When connected, the Windows Audio dialog shows the Bluetooth Audio as the audio device for the playback and recording devices. Playing a sound results in no sound coming out of the headset (or computer), but it does delay as if the sound is playing. (No bytes are sent/received in the status dialog).

I suspect a problem in the HP drivers, but HP replied to my initial case report that "HP does not support or warrant non-HP products, including the interoperability of such products with the notebook."

Any ideas on what to try next?

i think i've checked most posts now, but can't find the answer to my problem:

logitech BT headset
internal BT chip (latest widcomm driver)
acer travelmate 6000

i've followed all the indications from the first post, but can't find the famed BT icon in my taskbar. i thought it might be normal, as it's internal. but then again nothing seems to work. my headset has been recognised, but it's not available in sound devices. there is no microsoft BT driver installed...
please help.

I'm using a BT headset with my Sony Vaio (built-in BT). Sony doesn't support it though, and they don't provide drivers for BT Audio. It's possible to hack drivers from other brands, as described in the beginning of this thread, I think. PM me if you need the modified drivers for Vaios. (only for Vaios, others have to solve it on their own).

hopefully someone can help me with this:

I have widcomm 4.0.1.700 installed, and under bluetooth devices there are Bluetooth Bus Enumerator and ISSC USB Bluetooth device, both Widcomm drivers (no MS drivers).

I can connect my nokia to the dongle and use PC Suite no problem, and I can use my BT250 with my phone no problem, but when I try connecting my BT250 to the dongle, after I enter the security code (which works fine when connecting to my phone), the taskbar pops up the message 'error in pairing with device jabra 250. reason : authentication failed, try pairing again.' and a dialogue box says 'there was a security error, you may need to redo pairing.'

This happens every time I try connecting. Also, I paired the headset before connecting, and it seemed to pair OK, but when I try connecting, it asks me for the security code again, and then gives those messages.

Anyone with any suggestion regarding what to try next, I woud love to hear it.

I have the dark blue widcomm icon in the tray. I see no MS drivers in the device manager.

Thanks!

Great thread. I just had ordered a Motorola HS850 Bluetooth thingy when I remembered somebody mentioning that these devices can be used with Skype.

I already had a USB BT dongle and it has the latest BlueSoleil drivers BlueSoleil 1.6.1.4 release 050606. In the device manager it says CSR BT Device from IVT Corp.

After some twiddling with I got it work. It only shows the dark BT icon in the toolbar and only the one BT device in the DM, nothing MS.

My PC is a HP Pavillion zv5410 notebook.

Thanks for everybodies time and input.

Hi everyone, my problem is an amazingly weak signal

I'm using a MSI 6967, which is bluetooth 1.1, class 1.
The driver is MSI Bluetooth Device version 2.0.10.0
For my headset, I have a Plantronics M2500.

I have a broadband connection and all my computer spx are above the recommended (WINXPSP2) and an intregrated sound card..

My signal is horrid, and the reported 728kb/s of information capable by a bluetooth connection is obviously not being well harnessed. Keep in mind this is next to the source. If I travel 10 feet away from my computer the signal is completely incoherent.

Is there anyway to improve my situation without buying new equipment?

sir im using hbh-600 bundled with k700i

i am able to pair my K700i with pc and headset succesfully

but iam not able to pair my headset with computer

im using XPSP2 and Widcomm 1.4.3.x driver...

whats the main problem pls help me sir

thanks

Following the instructions at the start of the thread I got my HBH-660 working with Skype. My only trouble now is that the connection only last up to two minutes, sometimes the sound drop out entirely and sometimes the bluetooth connections drops.
I don't know where the problem lies, my drivers? windows? my headset?

Edit: I should add that my BT driver is the Widcom 3.0.1.912, this is the latest update on the Belkin support site.

I recently bought the linksys usb bluetooth adapter but cannot get it to work. When I disable the microsoft drivers and manually choose the linksys one (widcomm 1.4.2.?) when I open the bluetooth settings it does not see my hardware under the hardware tab and when I try to click discover it gives me an error message about saving the setting. Does anyone have any clue?

Many people now use our http://www.xovoxcommunications.com/product...ommunicator.htm the key to this is simple all of the elements work perfectly together and enable the user to reach the optimum performance level with Skype through the simple and effective install guide.

Even if that does work (and those many people should write more review)...

I can't justify paying 256.92$ for a headset sadsmile.png.

Hi there..

I'm just another bluetooth skyper who is having problems in getting it up & running.
What I have:
Sony VAIO Laptop TR5GP
BillionTon PCMCI Class 1 Bluetooth
Widcomm drivers 1.4.x
Windows XP Pro SP2
Plantronics M2500 BT Headset

What I've done:
I renamed all the files relating to MS Bluetooth (bth.inf, bth.pnf..etc) as .old files
Followed the rest of the steps posted by AMP at http://forum.skype.com/viewtopic.php?t=10822

Restarted the PC. I have only the Billionton Bluetooth driver listed in my Device Manager. The ICON looks definelty like the one of the Provider & not Microsoft one.

When I check in Audio & Sound devices.. the bluetooth audio volume seems to be disabled but in high volume though. But the WAVE/etc volume for Bluetooth Audio is enabled.

I'm able to pair the Head set with the Laptop without hassles. The only problem is this. THERE IS NO AUDIO from skype. I can neither hear the NICE LADY talking @ echo123 nor my voice. I only hear the BT Headset beeping always. When i disconnect the headset.. I hear the disconnect tone & its silent. If I pair it again.. I hear the paring tone & it keeps beeping. I dont know where I'm going wrong. have been trying to work with this for almost 2 days. I'm almost getting near in pulling my hears out.

Oh! btw.. If i install & use the skypeheadset software from www.skypeheadset.co.uk then all is fine. It has excellent quality of sound & echo123 is very clear & all is working.

I dont want to use that software, because I've seen a lot of posts who have said that its working just like that. So i wanna see if I can also get it working without skypeheadset.

Anyone.. Any help..

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Marirs

Hi anders, great write up im sume it has helped a lot of people.

Unfortunatelt i am still having some trouble.

After installing my belkin dongle all seems to be going fine, i only have the broadcomm drivers according to the device manager (no nasty ms), and the tray icon is as you said, white syble on dark blue back ground.

But when i try to pair my computer with my plantronics M3000 either it doesnt find it or i get the error "cannot begin to search for devices"

Also a "unconnected network" sybol appears in the tray with the tool tip "bluetooth network - cable disconnected" after a few seconds this disapears then comes back and this is all it does for ages.

Any ideas

Cheers Tom

Hi all,

Im new to skype.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank AMP for his setup guide, it help me a great deal, Thanks AMP.

I have managed to set my Bluetooth headset etc up with skype, im using a Cellink mini bt headset model BTHS 6023-FC with a ISSC USB dongle.
This set up works first time and easy to setup. However when in a call, the person on the other side of the line complains of echoes and crackly sounds etc. I have tried things other skype users have posted but no luck.
I have just purchased a USB phone from eBay with hope it will fix this problem. Is the quality better on a USB phone?

Thanks.

hi tomcoley

i had loads of trouble with the belkin usb dongle, i never got it to work. i then got a cheap one from ebay and that work first time, it is made by ISSC and i had to get it shipped from hong kong. i can point you in the direction of the seller of this dongle if you like. it cost a total of £8

P.S

I rang belkin about this problem, they think the problem is with the nforce chipset on the motherboard. do you have the nforce chip set? the errors you are getting are the same as i was geting too.

Well, I tried the tips in the startpost and it works... a bit...

My equipment: Belkin BT dongle, Logitech MobilePro headset on a Toshiba A10 notebook with an US Robotics wifi card...

But... The recommended Toshiba drivers don't work, the install stalls when I need to connect the dongle.

The Belkin drivers work better, installed only the headset service, and offcourse updated the driver for the BT enumerator MS blahblah...

When I call with skype, first I can hear and speak, but suddenly there's no sound and have to disconnect and connect again. It also seems to be that I first have to select the skype window before calling and then connect the headset.

Does anyone have a BT 1.2 dongle? It seems that I can't find it, nor any info on bluetooth.com (that site sucks...).
xlilo.co.uk_
1.2 dongols are listed on that ebay listing above in my last post, its hard finding info on them, i cant find much on the net about it.
tomcoley_
mine is a 1.2 compliant dongle. it is a Belkin F8T00

Not that it is helping much at the minute! (see previous post)
cksen_
I have a Belkin F8T003_v2 dongle and I had trouble getting it to work in Win XP SP2 as well. I downloaded the latest driver from Belkin support website. I followed these steps:

1. Install the driver with dongle unplug.
2. Don't plug in the dongle too if the installation asks to do so and wait until the installation is done.
3. Plug in the dongle.
4. Let Windows configure it.
5. Go to device manager to upgrade the dongle driver.

After these steps, the driver still does not work and I still had the license error. I had been struggling for 2 days.

Finally I got it working tonight.

It turned someone knows how to hack the WIDCOMM bluetooth driver.
The steps are a bit difficult but if you could follow them, you won't regret!
You can find out the instruction from this forum.

Okay, I have the same dongle and the latest drivers. But what's the use of editing the hexcode (the post you link is 2 years old)?
What does it do actually?

[UPDATE]
Perhaps it's just that the Wifi I have at home disturbs the whole thing. Now at work, it was a piece of cake to connect and try the echo123.
So, I think I'll connect a cable to my laptop again... Since I won't take it from my desk a lot...

[Update 28-10]
Well, since I'm wired now, I tested it again, only BT and no wifi. The 123echo goes well, but when I skype with someone else I sound staggerly and I hear noise in my headphone...

The soundrecorder works well actually...
Anyone experience with a BT 1.2 dongle?

Dear Anders

I followed your tip concerning headsewt and skype. I am using D-link bluetooth dongle which uses Widcomm driver 1.4.2.10 and istalls the proper B icon ( after disabeling the MS one) I am using the motorola HS850 headset.

The problem is that when launching skype the only two possibilities are either Default windows or C media audio which is the card i have but in no case I see any bluetooth device.

Do you have any idea?
