Which bluetooth unit should I purchase that has a 100 meter range? I am looking at the BELKIN piece. Will this work? I currently have a Jabra BT200 headset.

Has anyone found a workaround with Sony notebooks? I have a VGN-T150 with builtin bluetooth and a Jabra BT250v. I have installed the newest WIDCOMM driver and I can make the headset profile "call" the headset. When I press the button to answer, the driver shows that it is connected and the white "B" in the system tray turns green.

When I try to use the headset (by dialing in my Vonage softphone), I hear a static blast for 1 second and then nothing.

Any ideas, or will this laptop never work because of the Sony BT design?

Finally I got my Motorola HS810 Working with my motorola Csr dongle
After trying the latest widcomm drivers 1.4.0.700 and may other drivers
i realized I was a dumb!
I wasn´t pairing the headset and the PC
Thought it would happen just like on the cellphone(where once i done the pairing the first time it wouldnt need to repair) So i thought i just needed to open de headset for it to connect to the pc skipping the pairing process!
how could I be so stupid!
Altough, to reach this point I had to learn many things about bluetooth, so I thank you all at this forum, specially amp for helping!
Hope to be useful to someone around here

A Tip: Never forget to pair two devices in the first time! hehehe

Linksys Dongle BT100 with Widcomm Driver 1.4.2.8
Jabra BT250 Headset - USB 1.1

Sorry AMD im so lost i cant go through that list anymore..

Problem No Sound.

basicaly setup like "jmahr" post earlier:

1. plug-in dongle, go thru XP plug and play install of bluetooth dongle.

2. use device manager to force install of linksys USB driver after disabling the microsoft one. loads up perfect. no conflicts. widcomm 1.4.2.8

3. Activate / Pair / connect JabraBT250 headset. connects no problem. dongle and headset talking except no sound, i get the connect sound in the headset like "close encounters tune" i press once on the headset it connects or sometimes i'm prompted to connect by hitting the pop up, anyway its connected its working but NO SOUND.

Now according to the latest SKYPE help it does say in Skype to set the AUDIO options to WINDOWS DEFAULT DEVICE making sure that in SOUNDS OPTIONS in Windows its set to BLUETOOTH AUDIO, then in WIDCOMM BLUETOOTH CONFIGURATION SETTINGS i make sure HEADSET is REQUIRED, and AUDIO GATEWAY NOT REQUIRED (because it dosnt connect with it anyway i've tryed several hundred times)

What difference does Secure Connection make to sound if any?

Just for the record back on SP1 it did work, abit flakey and scratchy but it did work. abit on and off but ..you get me.

I thought i got a Good Quality Dongle headset blah it would just work,
but the headst support from Jabra and Linksys is non existent or points back to Microsoft. So who do i shout at Microsoft? for not Fully Supporting Bluetooth Headsets in SP1 or SP2 Plug n Play, instead of Plug n Pray. Ive been at this problem for about a year maybe longer. .

Bugging out current software :

Winamp freezes up, tryed all manour of audio settings. it used to work.
Windows Media Player plays but no audio.
Skype - No Audio - it used to work when the headset was connected 1st.
EQSO used to work as well, Amateur Radio app like Skype.

any links to similar drivers to try would be apreciated, i tryed the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack drivers they didnt even load. cheers for now.

Hey

There are lots of people experiencing sound problems while setting up the Headset on SP2.
It may be happening for many reasons, but I think the main are:
Wrong driver version!
Sometimes the newest driver isn´t the best one
I have read out there that lots of guys have been sucessful on using their headsets on skype downgrading their widcomm drivers.
I´m using the same driver as you, but i´d suggest the widcomm 1.4.0.700 driver! Seems to be working fine
heres the deal
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread...ad.php?t=179871
You should patch it so it can work with your device...
But trying some magic drivers should do the deal too
Search in this thread for Dell drivers! that should be a good start
Have you checked your dongle and headset, looking if they match the headset profile version? that can be the problem also...

Hope this helps

See ya

Have been reading these posts for the last couple of weeks and thought I would give it a try.
Using a DLink BT-120 and a Motorola HS 850 headset.
I have tried the instructions (yes, printed them) numerous times with no luck. I have the Widcomm driver from Dlink, ver. 1.4.2.10 and have installed it as described. I even went to the Widcomm IP address and downloaded the "module security key for your bluetooth device". I can find the headset with the generic bluetooth driver but not with the Widcomm.

Does anyone have success with the Dlink??

thanks,
Frank

Thanks very much for the reply rogerio182! downloading now, there are 2 versions of the same driver so i'll try both if need be.

One thing you mentioned was, ""Have you checked your dongle and headset, looking if they match the headset profile version?"" you lost me there with "profile version", how do i found out profile version number? is it on each Bluetooth device driver properties?, heaset has no drivers other than widcomm, its like im going to have to go to some kind of frikin bluetooth college or something to get this solved! smile.png , i was at www.jonsguides.com/bluetooth before i got the headset and dongle they where both passed and tested, they both pair up ok, let me try these drivers 1st befroe i start ranting again.

Ok they both load up ok but dont see my Linksys BT100 dongle at all, i'll try Linksys to see if they have older widcomm drivers. still need to work out my Profile Versions?

@derchefkoch and to my post,

after trying I figured that it´s working OK when you don´t install the \"audiogateway\".
MAybe this also is the reason for some other problems you might compare with the above problems.

just try to delete and reinstall without \"audiogateway\". For me it worked.

When you say "delete and reinstall without audio gateway", what does that mean? Unpair the device and re-pair without the audio gateway? Not sure how that would even work. I have the D-Link DBT-120 and the Cardo Scala-500, both of which seem to work great on Skype. The first time I used the headset, it worked on Yahoo voice as well. Now only the mic works on Yahoo while the entire headset works with Skype. I noticed I can't get the headset to connect, only the audio gateway, even though I've set the former to automatic and the latter to manual. I can't figure out how to delete the audio gateway completely. Delete and reinstall the D-Link dongle?

Thanks in advance to anyone.

I currently have the BELKIN 100 m BT unit. I followed the instructions at the beginning of this thread. I disabled the MS BLUETOOTH. Then I manually selected the INF file in question.

The Microsoft Enumerator icon disappeared. I tried to add the BLUETOOTH headset and it could not discover it.

It does show BELKIN BLUETOOTH DEVICE with WIDDCOM 1.4.2.8 drivers.

When I try to discover the unit it states Microsoft BT drivers not found?
How to I make this work and how do I make the Microsoft BT drivers come back?

I also get :

Your BT device does not include license to use with this BT device (6)

Hey apopilot
Above I´ve shared an address with a widcomm driver (1.0.4.700) that is assumed to be the updated one.
On the same link there are two patch files that grants the use with any or mostly all bt dongles. Suggest that you go there and take a look

Hey! - You MUST clear your registry first if you have tried to set up bluetooth before. www.registry-clean.com

i am using belkin F8T001 v2 with a Jabra headset. it has taken over 6 months to get it to work, but i have finally done it!!!

Drivers that come with the Belkin are OK! - you must clear registry, then instal your belkin drivers (DO NOT CONNECT WHEN IT TELLS YOU TO) then after re-booting, connect the USB dongle. now go to control panel/system/device manager and under bluetooth radio, right-click the belkin driver and select 'update driver'. if you go to 'specific location' you will be presented with two options - select 'Belkin Bluetooth device'

now, the belkin icon will be blue&white. right click:
From the 'Bluetooth setup wizard', you can select which profiles you want (select as few as possible)
and now, you can pair your devices!

i wish they had this on their website!
i hope this helps.

Hey Great post on how to get a blue tooth headset running with SKYPE

Thanks dude

My set-up was a Dlink USB Bluetooth device, Nokia HS_3W headset and a notebook...

I had to go and get the new driver for the Dlink USB dongle, which was easy as Dlink did a great job of helping you select the right one with pics of the labels (there were 4 different setups for the same module just slightly different versions...

Interestingly when I installed them it took the MS versions off my PC

Hi!

I first want to thank AMP for this magnificent post and all the work! I have installed a Jabra headset and a BlueSoleil bluetooth dongle in my laptop and works following his instructions (after removing a stupid sticker in the circuit of the dongle making it to emit lousily).
Now my question: is there a way to make the headset to be paired only with Skype? Every time I pair it, it gets all the sound of the computer, I would like only skype to use the headset, not all windows sounds. Do you have the same "problem"? Should I post this into "developers"?

Thanks!

Thanks for all this information. I have a belkin dongle and a nokia HDW-3 headset and I have followed all the steps outlined. I have no trouble getting the computer to "see" the headset, but when it connects all I hear is the stupid nokia tune over and over. No audio gets played.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like an often seen "problem" - it is your headset ringing! All you have to do is accepting the call on the headset (see the headset's manual on how to receive an incoming call). See previous posts in this thread for more info...

I bought a bluesoleil/IVT dongle before I ever knew there was any problem with bluetooth under sp2. I would throw it away and start again, but it's not that easy now to find a dongle that owns up to using widcomm drivers.

A few months ago, marksou said that he had got IVT to work by renaming (I think) the microsoft drivers. That doesn't mean much to me: I assumed that he was referring to a more detailed account earlier in the thread, but if it exists I haven't found it (apogies if it's there, but it all tends to swim before the eyes after a while).

If anyone could point me to a janet-and-john version I'd be very grateful. Or else point me somewhere in UK wh supplies a dongle which is known to respond to AMD's treatment.
kagbeni94_
I have a very slightly different set up in that I have a Dell bluetooth card installed in my laptop and am able to get it to pair with my Plantronics M3500 but cannot get either the microphone or the headset to work. I hear the constant beeping in the headset indicating that it is paired and in talk mode and the bluetooth logo in my system tray is green on blue as expected.

I have not had to add any drivers or anything like that since I believe that those that we installed when I installed the Dell Truemobile 300 Bluetooth card are the correct sort. I did find some documentation somewhere saying that it was a driver/card that was compatible with SP2 for XP.

For what it is worth it all works very smoothly on my Mac with OSX.

I am able to get Skype to work using the microphone on my Logitech Quickcam Pro4000 and the speakers attached to my PC, but it makes no sense to me why I cannot get this wretched headset to work.

You are indeed correct. That did fix it. Interesting though that the sound quality (having tested it with ECHO123) is much better if I use the Logitech QuickCam Pro4000's microphone than if I use this Plantronics M3500 bluetooth headset. To be honest, I am quite dissapointed with its performance, but that's a topic for another thread and another time.

Thanks a hell of a lot man, I bought a Belkin F8T003_v2 BT 1.1 dongle and Logitech Mobile Freedom BT 1.2 headset and it worked real fine with my T-610 phone. Then I tried it with skype and you could hear the other person fine but my voice got real distorted, damn damn damn, a 100$ bucks down the toilet...

When I tried the fix in this tread it just said that I dont have a license to use the newer version driver with my hardware:-(

But then I read your reply and instantly went and disabled the audio gateway function in My Bluetoooth places so it has to be manually started and rebooted. The Headset functionallity of course should be set to Automatic startup. After the reboot I made a testcall in Skype to the sound test service and voila, my voice was crystal clear:-)

So all you people with a Belkin usb BT dongle and 1.4.8 build 10 software, just disable (Manual startup, and dont start it) the Audio gateway function and Enable (Automatic) the Headset function in My bluetooth places and it will work. IF you have problems with SP2 drivers taking over go to http://web.belkin.com/support/download.asp...06&lang=1&mode= and chose your Dongle and download the lates drivers and documents that describe the workaround in SP2.

If You have newly installed the software, don't tick the Audio gateway checkbox when you configure it for the first time, don't tick the network boxes either if you dont need them for security reasons!!!

I'm about to pull my hair out on this!!!!!

Headset: Motorola HS805 (works great!)
OS: Windows 2000 (works great!)
Dongle: Belkin F8T001_v1 (piece of garbage, IMO)

I can pair the headset with Windows just fine. It asks for the security code, so I give it '0000', as instructed by the manual, and I get a beep on the headset, and a message in Windows saying that pairing is complete. But, from there, the only option I have is "discover services". This always comes up empty.

When I open Sounds and Multimedia from Control Panel, the bluetooth device is not listed under "Sound Recording" or "Sound Playback". I can't get any applications (such as Skype) to select the headset either.

Under Bluetooth configuration, there are 7 services listed as available:
* Information synchronization
* Fax
* File Transfer
* Information Exchange
* Dial-up Networking
* Network Access
* Bluetooth Serial Port

For each of these, I can select it, and select a "COM" port for that service. There is no way to turn these services on or off. Headset is not listed here.

When I go to Device Manager, there is nothing for "Bluetooth Radio" or "Bluetooth Devices". I do see "Bluetooth Modem" under modems, and "Bluetooth LAN" under Network. I also see Bluetooth COM (3-13) listed under ports(COM&LPT), but that is it.

I've tried this headset with a friend's computer (Dell D610, built in bluetooth), and it worked great. It could be selected from the "Sounds and Multimedia" panel.

I went to Belkin's site, and my software (from 2003) is the latest available.

Is there any hope of getting this to work, or should I just throw out the dongle, and buy a new (non-Belkin) adaptor?

Well... Your dongle seems to use 1.2.2.16 version of Widcomms driver and when I looked in the manuals for your dongle it didn't say anything about hedset service so you should by a new one? You could buy a Belkin F8T003_v2 or F8T009. I have a F8T003_v2 myself and it works fine after I disabled the audiogateway service. Se my post about how, valdid for all adapters that use the Widcomm 1.4.2.x drivers (and newer?) The important thing is that the Bluetooth adapter you buy must use 1.4.2.x or newer Widcomm drivers I think?! Most manufacturers actually use the Widcomm drivers and software, the just rebrand it with there logo so what brand you decide to buy really don't matter that much as long as it uses 1.4.2.x or newer widcomm drivers.

Hope this helped?

Hi Remiach and Tonheko!
Sorry for not answering sooner, but I have so little time these days crying.png
First of all, I know nothing about Samsung BT versions, but if it was my computer, I would make an XP system backup point and then try to update the buildt-in BT with the X-micro driver as described in the initial post and above. This is however a risky operation, potentially disabling the buildt-in BT support, so think twice!
If Widcomm drivers don't work, then try with Bluesoleil drivers (search this forum for more info!).
Please make sure that the Logitech BT hub does support headsets before buying one - else you won't be any better off with that extra investment! A cheap BT 1.2 dongle might be a cheaper solution!

Best wishes

Even though I don't like to see commercial products advertised in this thread, I have tested SkypeHeadset (http://www.skypeheadset.co.uk/) and it seems to be able to do exactly what you want - at a price! Registration costs 10 GDP (just below 15 EUR).
You can try it for free (if you create a special Skype account for testing) and see if it fulfills your needs - please post your review here!

Kind regards

I have a Treo wireless Headset + Dell x300. I was able to connect the headset with bluetooth and followed all instructions. The Dell has an internal bluetooth module and said driver provider Widcomm, driver version 3.0.1.804.
But, after all steps I am not able to connect to Skype, I am not reveiving any sound. I am not sure if the problems are the drivers, where can I find them?
karl3175_
Anders,
I was interested to see you a few posts above suggesting using Bluesoleil drivers. I have recently got a new dongle that runs on Bluesoleil software. Before I had used a dongle which ran on Widcomm. It worked fine after following your detailed instructions at the top of this post.

The dongle seems to work well for other tasks and I seem to be able to connect my Plantronics 3000 headset to the new dongle-it rings in the headset and shows as connected.

However there is no sound (either way) in Skype. I have checked that Skype is set up for the new Bluetooth driver. I have disabled the Widcomm driver and now removed them.

I have seen the suggestion that Marksou got this software to work by renaming the driver. I do not fully understand that. My computer calls the driver 'Bluetooth AV/HS Headset'.

I have seen a suggestion that in the setting up of the Bluesoleil software you shd disable 'Audio Gateway'. I did not find that this ooption was offered. I have downloaded the latest version from the IVT website.

I suspect that there is something further I need to do in my downloaded Bluesoleil software to perfect the connection.

I have been lost for sometime on this and wd be most grateful for your suggestions.

Hi Karl!
As I have never used BlueSoleil BT drivers myself, I am unfortunately not able to help you. I have however seen the subject discussed in older threads and some people having found solutions, so I suggest that you search the forum for answers - just be aware that I have seen Bluesoleil spelled in many different ways, so you might not "hit gold" before trying some spelling variations...

Good luck!

Anders,
I was interested to see you a few posts above suggesting using Bluesoleil drivers.

I have the exact same problem with BlueSoleil. Their tech support claims it might be a problem with my dongle. however, the dongle connects to my phone and handset fine, but I have no sound in the handset. it is an ISSC USB dongle. Do you have this kind also?

Hello. I'm new to this forum and I'm having a problem with my headset also. I have a d-link usb bluetooth adapter and a Logitech HS01 headset. I was looking in the instructions at the first page, but under device manager I didn't see a ms bluetooth entry. I've got the software installed and the headset paired, but bluetooth notifies me that the logitech HS01 is not an audio gateway. This is why I'm not getting it to work. I also have bluetooth audio checked in the speaker/microphone part of my audio settings. When I connect to the headset I hear the beeping indicating that it is connected, but nothing works after that. I am also using windows xp sp2. thanks

Can skype connect to the bt headset only when needed, just as the mobile phones are doing?
It's not very convenient to keep the headset connected all the time as it fatigues the battery.
Please see my August 20th post (just 4 posts above this one).
The answer can be www.skypeheadset.co.uk - I use it myself...

Best wishes

Does anybody know of any other application that can can change default audio device on the fly in window?

Has anyone had this problem?

I was able to pair up my computer and my bluetooth headset, and even to use them together a couple of times. Everything looks fine in my configuration, as described in this forume.

But I must have made some mistake with a configuration change at some point, because now, when I initiate the connection from my computer, the headset doesn't ring, and so it doesn't know it is in a call. From the computer side, the connections appears to be active. The sound settings do not change automatically to Bluetooth as they used to, though. Bluetooth is listed in Control Panel, but if I change the settings to use Bluetooth, I can't hear anything in the headset (because it doesn't consider to be in a call, as I said).

I would appreaciate some help. My next step is to uninstall the whole thing and start from the beginning, to see if I can get back to the situation where all worked perfect.

Is it possible to use my Nokia 6680 as the headset for my laptop with bluetooth. I don't want to carry around a dedicated bluetooth headset + charger.

I know about Useful Skype which sets up a client on the 6680 to use the mobile as a headset over bluetooth but I found the sofware to be a little buggy.

Any suggestions? Is it possible to do with the widcomm stack?
