Hi there Burkele!
Thanks for your nice comment  !
No - unfortunately I have not found any solution for that problem yet. I have read some threads indicating that it could be solved by adding functionality in the Skype software (by Skype) that could send calls to BT headsets, but I am not sure it's so easy...
Anybody around with more knowledge on the subject?

Hi Daffy!
Getting the Sony Vaio Bluetooth implementation to work with any BT headset is quite a project - but it is possible! Did you read the excellent post by CityWarrior just a few posts above your post in this thread? He has all the instructions you need to get a BT headset working with the Viao. If you have already "been there - done that", then please tell us more about your problems and what you've done so that we´ll get a chance to find a solution...

Hi Radu!
This subject has been addressed in several threads in the "Skype for Pocket PC" forum, so a simple search there will give you a good start.
I am using my BT headset with an iPaq hx4700 and it works just as well as when I connect to a PC. In fact I have managed to have excellent sound quality even using this long combination:
BT headset > iPaq hx4700 running Skype > WLAN > PC with a WLAN PCI card > ADSL > Skype
Just give it a try!
Best wishes

Same problem as many others here.
which drivers to install to enable me to use Nokia HDW-3 headset with the built in blue tooth that came with my laptop.
Windows XP Professional latest service pack
Should I be trying to overwrite by generic drivers with Widcomm? I don't have a Widcomm dongle. where are the drivers to download?
Should I be looking to install Toshiba drivers (if so where from whihc ones sounds a bit risky)
or
should I be looking here ?
http://www.skypeheadset.co.uk/support/#Headsets
doesn't list my headset.

I got a Plantronics M3000 to work with Skype via the IVT Bluesoleil software/drivers, haveing renamed the MS drivers on my XP SP2 machine. I would have liked to have used the Skypeheadset plugin, but having bought the BT dongle thinking it came with Widcomm, it didn't. Still, it's better than all those wires.

Another success story here! My particular combo (for those interested) was:
+ IBM ThinkPad T40
+ Motorola Bluetooth USB key (not sure the model number, but its the tiny one)
+ Logitech Mobile Freedom Bluetooth Headset
One feedback item:
+ Point 10 doesn't make much sense. It seems like it is saying that as soon as you're done configuring Skype to use the Bluetooth headset you will receive a call auto-magically. Maybe you should swap points 10 and 11 around.
Unless, of course, you mean that when you connect the Bluetooth headset itself, Windows gives you a popup message saying that a BT device is trying to initiate contact.
Anyway, hope I am clear in my explanation, and thanks again for the excellent guide.

Hi. I use the equipment sepcified in the topic and I followed your instructions. Unfortunately my Bluetooth icon just does not turn white. Also, after installing the generic drivers for my BT-adapter (which worked fine) the Microsoft device disppeared from the device list. I did not remove it, it just disappeared. Now, everytime I click on "start using bluetooth" I get an error message that says "You do not have the appropriate license". Even if I select the license file that came with driver, it does not work.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanka a lot.

My MS Bluetooth device also disappeared from the device list, however, I still had a second icon in the notifier area of the taskbar. It turned out it was the unwanted MS BT icon. It gave me the same message, so I simply deleted it from the taskbar with a right-click.
Do you have the Widcomm icon?

I'm having a very similar issue and keep trying to get around it but can't.
I have a Microsoft BT adapter from a elite desktop for BT setup. I also want to run my Jabra BT250 through skype.
I disabled the enumerator and updated the driver for the device to the widcomm drivers, and in my device driver screen the enumerator disappears and the icon remains red. I have even tried all combinations of changing the bth.inf file to .bak in the //Windows/inf/ directory as well as manually merging the inf files to try to create an omega-driver. Didn't work

When I try to connect it asks me for a valid licence file and when I point it to the one coming with the widcomm drivers, it gives me an error message (something like cannot overwrite newer BT devices with older file).
Any idea on how to fix this problem? I took the widcomm drives from two separate place, on an HP packaged driver, and the other from my Motorola mobile phone tools.

For those of you who need to know how to get this thing running. I compiled this infor from a few pages, but this post was the most useful of all.
1) Install the Widcomm drivers using theit utility. I got mine from the mobile phone tools that came with my razr.
2) Then find on the net the latest driver version 4.0.1.700 and overwrite the one in the Widcomm directory that got installed in the previous step.
3) Go into msconfig (run 'msconfig' from your start menu) and uncheck Bluetooth Setup (there are two if you're using the microsoft dongle, don't uncheck Microsoft's version)
4) In the next tab uncheck the .exe that controls BT ( rundll32.exe)
5) Go into your devices page under Hardware Setup and disable the bluetooth enumerator,
6) Then update the driver for the dongle using the update driver feature and "Have Disk" pointing it to the Widcomm directory which contains the driver you installed and overwrote in steps 1 and 2.
7) Find the Widcomm Patcher utility for the 4.0.1.700 driver online and run it with the "get info from registry" feature. Select the device you're using. This tool replaces a few hex codes with the corrected ones to get around the driver licensing issue.
The downloadables are googlable. Basically I think posting the hacks violates a couple copyrights and your warranty, but it works.
Good luck!
Don't forget to enable your bluetooth audio device in sounds and audio setup in the control panel.

@damiaan1980
thanks for your input
I reinstalled bluetooth as per the instructions in your post, starting from a pc image dating from before the headset attempts.
Compared to the instructions I had found myself, only the updating part from the original drivers was new. previously I had directly installed the latest patched 4.0.1.7 version.
it seems that made a difference, not complete success but nevertheless some improvement.
on reboots and each headset reconnection, the pairing is still refused with an authentication error and has to be done each time anew.
the repairing then modifies the sound settings in control panel which has to be corrected each time by hand.
BUT the improvement is: the microphone afterwards works! (albeit a bit too quiet)
perhaps I will manage to live with these inconveniences till some future final solution.

glenn

1. If my existing Notebook have build-in bluetooth, do i need to purchase a external bluetooth dongle?
2. Once the audio diverted to Bluetooth, how can we maintain the main music playing thru speakers instead of headphone.
gdemoor_
Thu May 26 2005, 13:37
1. if you have widcomm drivers for your bluetooth (or find them), you do not need an extra dingle
2. you can set skype to send its audio in an out over bluetooth audio, leaving the main audio settings untouched.
I have some hit and miss success with this, as reconnecting or re-pairing the bluetooth headset always seems to modify the main audio settings to bluetooth, which you then have to remodify manually

- Jabra BT250v bluetooth headset
- Anycom Blue(tooth) USB Adapter USB-120 with drivers 1.4.3.4sp3
- Skype 1.2.0.48
- Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
Followed the instructions on the first post and sucessfully created the bluetooth connection between Windows and the headset.
However, when using Skype with the echo123 contact, I can hear the other persons voice and ringing, but not my own voice recorded.
I would greatly appreciate some help.
By the way, I also sucessfully setup a bluetooth headset connection with my Toshiba e830W Pocket PC, and the same problem occurs, ie, get sound for other side's voice but not able to hear my own recording.

Hi there,
I have two things to check.
1)Since it didn't work on two computers, first check to see if the microphone on your headset isnt physically broken (test it with your normal mobile)
2)Try using Widcomm drivers version 4.0.1.700

i can connect my bluetooth headset (bluetrek G2) with my notebook and use it with skype.
the only drawback is that the sound quality appears to be a lot worse compared with a cheap plug-in headset (lots of hissing).
sometimes people can hardly understand me.
it can't be the BT headset itself as it is working perfectly fine when using it with my cellphone.
anyone experienced the same problem and/or knows how to solve it?

Hi, after going around the WORLD wide web, i've been trying to find solutions to my bluetooth problem.
I've a nokia HDW-2 heaset. Got it to connect with my computer. Audio out works fine. It's only the mic that doesnt work. It doesnt work on skype, so i thought i'll try it out in windows. It doesnt record anythign in windows too. So, it's nothing to do with skype.
This is what i've tried:
1) reading the whole post, and found nobody having nokia HDW-2 problem
2) Yes, i'm on xp 2 and i've disabled the Microsoft USB driver
3) Went to control panels and set bluetooth adapter as default (in and out)
4) tried updating driver to 4.0* but doesnt work
umm...i guess that's about what i've done. Anybody here has this problem and knows how to resolve this?

However my problem is that I have absolutely no idea who manufactures my bluetooth dongle. I bought it months ago from a random website I found?? There are no manuf. names or alike in the dongle so I cannot source the updated drivers? Due to this I cannot follow your advice. Do you have any suggestions?? I'm stumped!!

I can't get any of the audio functions to work (all the rest is). The service can't be started (when I try to start it manually I get an error).
A clue might be that when configuring the service the software is looking for ksuser.dll and ks.sys and I had to submit their location (in windows/system32 and windows/system32/drivers).
It appears also that the audio gateway service is the one that will allow you to use a headset while the headset service will have the computer act as a headset for your phone (according to the help file) but I can't get either one to work.

Hi Nick!
You will find in this thread several links to downloadable Widcomm drivers and as far as I know, most dongles will work with any Widcomm driver, so give it a chance! I would however strongly suggest, that you make a Windows back-up point before trying anything :!:
And do not expect me to advice you to search for freely downloadable Widcomm drivers at the X-micro (www.x-micro.com) website!

Hey,
I own an Acer C112CI Tablet PC. Acer provides widcomm v1.3.2.7 and I got them running, thanks to this thread. The problem now is, they are sooo old that I can't use my headset with that. It will see the headset, but wont provide the sound service. I don't think this level of software has sound drivers. I have tried soooo many newer versions of the widcomm drivers, but they are all for other USB dongle's and I have not gottem them to work with mine. ("No device found") My bluetooth is internally, but I suspect that it is connected via USB.
I am trying to get version with these soundprofiles to run.
Is there anything I can do, rewrite some inf file so it will work with my bluetooth? ANy help would be appreciated. Again I was able to get the suplied drivers to work, but they are too old to be used with a headset.
Thank you,
Wolfgang

I have a D-link DBT-120 and a S-E Akono HBH-662 bluetooth headset, running Win Xp and the latest Widcomm available for DBT-120 (1.4.2.10).
It finds and recognizes my headset, no problem, but the volume of the mic is just to low for people to hear me. I on the other hand, can hear them loud and clearly. Tried calling echo123 and I heard the lady just fine, but my recording turned out really low. I don't have this problem when it's connected to my cell-phone, so there's nothing physically wrong with the headset.
Does anyone have a solution? I thought I would be able to raise the volume in the sound options in windows, but it's locked to one setting.

Successful.

--With a Wire-Headset calling. Successful
--I was trying to disable the audio-gateway and enable the Headset. Is impossible after BT Pair the audio-gateway is enable again.
My next Steps to try:
--1st I have enable the autostart-function by Widcomm, so I can start BT connection by Headsetbutton. I going to try calling with this function disabled.
--2nd Installing an other BT Driver "bluesoleil"

IF you mean headset for a handsfree type phone use then no it can't be sorted out at the moment [b]until HP actually incoporate the whole bluetooth stack in the OS for the Rx devices - I answer this again in the hope one day they'll notice people want it.
You can get headphones to work for listening to music but just the set available from HP as far as I am aware
