Hi Anders,
I´m sorry if you´ve already answered this question, but I couldn´t find the appropriate answer in this thread.
My problem is, that I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-660 Bluetooth Headset and a Sony Vaio S1XP Notebook with integrated Bluetooth.
I´ve installed BlueSpace NE 3.4 which works perfect with my mobil phone. But when I scan my Bluetooth environment for new devices, it finds the SE HBH-660 but doesn´t find any services for it. So I can´t use it as Mic or headset. I either can´t find it in my control panel nor any other settings on my computer. It is just not there.
Now I tried to install several Bluetooth drivers. I started with Widcomm, which didn´t work, because it asked for the Bluetooth dongle. But I just don´t have one, because it´s integrated. So I tried several other drivers and softwares, but none of them worked. Okay, now I´m REALLY PISSED, because I especially bought this stupid headset to call friends over skype and it is not working. I would really appreciate it, if you could help me!

Hi I have a question.

My setup is:

XP PRO
SP 2
SKYPE version 1.2.0.41
Logitech® Mobile Pro™ Headset
CNet Bluetooth USB Dongle Bluetooth v1.2 Class I (100m)
The Cnet dongle uses IVT BlueSoleil

is IVT BlueSoleil widomm?
can it use widcom?
if so wehere can I get widcomm?

I realy wont to try SkypeHeadset.

And.....

Is it posible to send akype sound to the headset and the rest of the sound to the speakers?
dkdent_

I now installed SP2, and deactivated the Microsoft Bluetooth drivers. After restarting, it still doesn´t recognize my headset for any audio service. When I go to Bluetooth Neighbourhood I can see my headset, but there are no services for it. And so it is at the sounds menu in control panel. I can´t select Bluetooth Audio, because it´s not there. Does anybody know, what to do?
bobbigill_
All,

If you are using a Sony Vaio with built in bluetooth and trying to connect to a bluetooth headset, the Sony application "Bluespace" will not work as it does not support the headset profile at all lipssealed.png

I found the following software (trying the trial version at present):

http://www.avelink.com/Bluetooth/Products/...river/index.htm

This will pick up the headset and connect BUT at present I have not got it to work. Once connected, when I connect to Skype it drops the connection and then crashes bluetooth which has to be restarted. I have tried with the Logitech Freedom Headet and Sony Bluetooth Headet and get the same problem with both

Does anyone know where I can get the 'Widcomm' file from or is that specific to particular bluetooth hardware as I do not have this file on the laptop.

I will also try connecting with my Belkin Bluetooth USB adaptor once I find it and send an update on whether that works or not

Bobbi
dkdent_
Well, I gave this software from aveLink a try, but again it didn´t recognize my inbuilt bluetooth adapter.
So I wrote several emails to service points from Sony. Hopefully they know something...but I´m not very optimistic.
However it seems to me, that it is impossible to connect a bluetooth headset to a Sony Vaio Notebook.
Probably because of hardware problems...I don´t know...
Other experiences from Sony customers are welcome.
AMP_
Hi all!

AMP here! Sorry for being absent from the forum for a while without explanation, but answering the many forum posts for Bluetooth support as well as personal messages and Skype calls (!) on that same subject just became too time-consuming for me, so I had to take a break to take care of my wife and kids too - I hope that you will understand!

I really hope that you people who managed to get Bluetooth Skyping running will help the unfortunate people here, who are not yet in the same lucky situation - in that way we can all learn a little more every day

For those of you who struggle with Sony Vaio and Bluetooth headsets, I am sorry to say that I believe it's a hardware issue in the Sony implementation of the BT protocol and that the present Sony hardware will not work with BT headsets, whatever software or drivers you use sadsmile.png
If you do a search in the forums you will find other treads on that issue and as far as I know, no-one has yet found "the" solution...

Best whishes
Anders, Denmark
dkdent_
Hi Anders,
one last question. Do you think, that buying an additional Bluetooth dongle for my Sony Vaio Notebook would be helpful? I mean, if I just turn the inbuilt Bluetooth off and only use the Bluetooth USB stick?
Actually this should work, right?
bobbigill_
dkdent,

Sony do not support audio profile at all and as they use the default MS drivers it will not work anyway. I have spoken to Sony and until MS release something to support this it will not work (and we all know MS will take an eternity even though I am sure they are aware of the problems lipssealed.png

As for AveLink, it should at least got you connected to the headset but you will need to update the driver for "USB Bluetooth......" in device manager to get AveLink to work. Select the driver from AveLink program dir, which should then get the Avelink app to work. I can get the test audio through to the headset when establishing a BT connection but after that, once I try and make calls I get nothing sadsmile.png

Also, I have mentioned the issues to Skypeheadset and they should be looking into getting Skypeheadset to work with the Avelink driver.

I have tried both with the Logitech Freedom Headset & a Sony Headset and get the exact same issue with both

In the mean time, a seperate dongle or USB bluetooth adaptor should work. I will try my old Belkin BT USB I used to connect on my old Dell laptop once I find the damn thing!!!

On another note, ActiveSync via bluetooth does not work with Vaio's Bluespace either as the service is not supported. I am looking into this but again it probably comes down to the Vaio software/hardware

Bobbi
dkdent_
Thanks bobby, I´ll try that. Give u feedback, when it´s done.
priegog_
oops, repeated post
priegog_
hey dkdent.
yeah, i believe that should make it work.
by the way, its my first post here, but i've been readin this thread for a while beacuse i was planning on getting a bt headset. i finally did, and am glad to report that i can skype throught it!
my setup is the following:

dongle: USB BT dongle class I (yup the 100m one, i know it wont make a differerence but what hte hell) the brand is unknown just some crappy 20 euro dongle
Headset: SonyEricsson Akono HBH-600
i cant remember the setup i came up with but i believe i just forced the "driver update" of the widdcomm drivers over microsoft's ennumerator. i do know, however, that i decided to future-proof my setup so i downloaded widcomm v4.0.1.700 drivers, just to be sure. it was kindda hard to get, and you do need to patch the stuff to make it work with any dongle but it works like a charm. and... thats it! pretty simple, huh? so, i just wanted to tell you all you can pm if you want the drivers and/or if you need any help. i will browse this thread once in a while. i am by no means an expert on the subject, but after all i had to read in order to find/make work the drivers, i think i learned a thing or two.
thanks to AMP for all the work he's done here... by the way, what does you nick stand for? i cant help but to hate those letters thanks to my biochemistry teacher (adenosine monophosphate)
dkdent_
Hi priegog,
hey that sounds good! I´m gonna buy one of those BT dongles tomorrow.
Thanks for the great support in this forum. It helped me really much!

Okay Sony guys. Here´s help:
http://www.siliconpopculture.com/sonytr/vi...opic.php?t=4207

I received this link from bushman. Thanks again!

Unfortunately I got stucked in part "Patching" of luchao18´s second comment.
When I want to replace the Bluetooth drivers with the patched ones, it always says, "they don´t fit. Probably its an error with the *.inf file"
Moreover my bluetooth device is not an unknown usb device, but a strange UGX-device in the bluetooth folder of the hardware manager.
Does ANYONE know, what to do? Because I´m about to crash my stupid Sony Vaio very soon!
bobbigill_
Thanks to Bushman for the link

Will try this as soon as I get a chance and let you know how it goes. dkdent, not had a chance to try this as yet and will see if I come across the same problem

Hello !

perhaps someone could help me ?

I have the bluetooth dongle PC2PC MSI and I cannot install last widcomm drivers sadsmile.png

I have tried with another PC2PC dongle, exactly the same, and it works !!!

So i think mine is too old, or something like that !!!??

What can I do ?
priegog_
well.. i dont quite understand your problem... if it is of installing the drivers then it would have nothing to do with your dongle, but then you said it worked with another dongle... could you be a bit more specifcif to try to respond to you? also you might want to read the very first post as it is likely yout doubts will be solved there
noisequik_
Ok, I have bought a PC2PC MSI dongle 1year ago.

Since I installed XP sp2 it doesn't work any more !

And then i try with the same dongle from a friend, and it perfectly works !!!

Perhaps the widcomm license doesn't fit with my old Pc2PC ( I can install old drivers but I would like the last version !!)
priegog_
if i got your problem right, the solution is quite simple: with your dongle connected go to the device manager, and in the bluetooth thing look for your dongle. right click on it and hit update drivers. in the hardware update wizard select install from a specific location (advanced) and next. then select the option "dont search, i will select the driver to install" and next. then a list should appear. from that list select the widdcom latest drivers (i believe they are 4.0.1.700) (of you would have needed to install them first) and finish the whole thing. thatt should do it. maybe the reason it worked with your friends dongle was that you installed the software and used his dongle for the program to recognize. anyways, if that doensnt help, try giving us detailed info on exactly where is that it fails to work. and if it works, let us know too!
noisequik_
I have done this lot of time sadsmile.png

The two dongles have exactly the same look

user posted image

The only difference is the 6 numbers of the device adsress, but they all begin with 00:0c:76...

When I plug my friend's one, I can access to the wizzard and the configuration but when I plug mine, it says : bad licence [6] or device not found ?!!!!!!
priegog_
oh, well thats the simplest of problems.. if you cannot get the key for your dongle from your provided cd, then you just need to patch the widdcom program to let you use any kind of dongle. i have the files for the 4.0.1.700 version, pm me if you want them with your email address and i can send them to you. still weird, tho, that they are the same brand and it wont recognize one of them... anyone any ideas?
noisequik_
yeah I think I won't have choice... I suppose it's a bug with the driver

I try to install 1.4.3.4 downloaded form this page : http://www.msi.com.tw/html/products/commun..._htm/6967-4.htm

I remember old drivers asking me for a serial number - which I have received by email - but the new one does not
fulcrum1981_
i have a related problem:

- Windows XP SP1
- Bluetrek G2 Bluetooth Headset
- Trust BT100 Bluetooth Dongle
- ESS Maestro notebook soundcard (notebook is dell)

I can listen to music, listen to my partner on skype, but they just hear interrupted, noncontinuous, blurred voice from my side.

I have downloaded the latest drivers for my dongle, headset is defined as headset, audio settings of windows are to bluetooth, audiosettings of skype as well.

the headset is working perfectly fine with my cellphone.

can anyone help me with that problem? what other drivers could i use? pls indicate downloadpath to me as i didn't find widcomm drivers for download on the net (ones that are not designed for a special product!!!)

or are there any other settings i have to change?

p.s.: i still could give the headset back (within the next 5 days) so if anyone knows of that this headset is not working at all with a notebook pls tell me!!!

Hello have a problem

Laptop Sony Vajo Windows XP SP2
Headset Sony Erricson HBH 35
USB Dongle Sony VCGA BA

the problem, headset is connected with usb and i see it. but i cant in skype this feature drop. Only in my Skype options are
windows standart auediogerät
and
yamaha ac-xg wdm audio

no headset ?!
fulcrum1981_
are the devices paired as "headset"?
you also have to change the autio-options in you system-settings/sounds and audio devices
bobbigill_
Hi,

I finally managed to try out the link from bushman (thanks for that) and eventually got everything patched and working... BUT as before even with the latest widcomm driver and skypeheadset I get the test audio through when pairing. After that whenever I make a test call or chargeable call (wasted enough money doing that!!!) I get nothing. No sound/audio whatsoever and Skypeheadset connects once and after that continally shows diconnected even though the headset is connected under bluetooth

I have changed settings in skype (tried with skypeheadset and without), changed sound/audio settings in control panel and NOTHING lipssealed.png

Does anyone know what is going on or do I accept this is not going to work??? The link from bushman has a number of people who have managed to get it to work on Vaios

Bobbi
thempire_
@fulcrum1981

i cant change the settings in system audio devices

the headset is paired as headset yes
bobbigill_
Hi,

Finally after several days I got this working on a vaio with the logiect freedom headset. It took a while and had some major issues at one point where nothing relating to BT was detected or would work. I will post instructions on here from the link from Bushman on the Sony TR forum plus what I had to do to get this to work

One thing though, the sound going through the mic is very low and people have trouble hearing me (set to full vol under sound & audio settings)... any ideas?

Also, tried using skypeheadset (trial) and although it connects, I get no sound/audio through. Even atfer turning it off and just using skype didn't work any longer. Had to reboot and have contacted skypeheadset support

AMP it seems after some major config changes and mods it is poss to connect BT headsets to Vaios and use Skpye bigsmile.png

Thanks to ngvuanh on the Sony World TR foum bigsmile.png

Bobbi
bobbigill_
Hi,

Here are the instructions from the Sony TR forum and these to work but please read carefully. It may take some fiddling about and is a pain but it is possible to get this working on Vaios. Use LINKS at the end for the required files and Widcomm Software:

Install Widcomm Software v4.xxx (search under google and download file 30MB or use link below)

During the operation the "wireless" swich remains "on"

Download the patch.zip > unzip to a directory
check the VID and PID from device-manager-> bluetooth ... -> details tab.

NOTE: you may need to change the settings for VID & PID in the btwusb.inf file to match the one on your system when updating the driver at the last stage otherwise you will get an error message (simply edit the file but it should contain all the req. numbers)

e.g. Just change (in csrbc01.inf) the PID on this line:
%ALPS.DeviceDesc%=CSRBC01.Dev, USBVID_044e&PID_3003 ; ALPS

Go to task manager & kill bttray.exe btstack.exe btwdins (end processes)

Go to the devices manager, bluetooth radio section and remove the entries under bluetooth in device manager

Reboot

Go to task manager Ctrl+Alt+Del kill bttray.exe btstack.exe btwdins (end processes)

Upon reboot (not essential if you have XP so ignore and go straight to updating driver) you will receive a new hardware found message, install the driver in the patch folder under csrbc01.inf
important here
Click on "update driver"
Select "Install from a list or specific location"
Select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
Click on "Have disk"
Goto the patch directory where the patch.zip was installed.
Click OK
There should be 1 single device listed
Click Next
Click OK

The profile should now be under the category "usb bus controllers" and will named ALPS...

Run the patch from a dos console (patch.bat)

It should run and exit

Reboot

Go to task manager Ctrl+Alt+Del kill bttray.exe btstack.exe btwdins (end processes)

Go to the device manager / Usb controllers, select ALPS... device

Change its driver & click on "update driver"
Select "Install from a list or specific location"
Select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
Click on "Have disk"
Point to the widcomm driver diretory where you download the widcomm package/software and unziped.
Click OK
There should be 1 single device "sony bluetooth device "listed
Click Next
Click OK

The alps device disapears and Bluetooth Radios category opens OR you will get Bluetooh Devices instead of Bluetooth Radio depending on your hardware.

Should work now bigsmile.png

hi,

thx for the links!!!

it seems that my problem was just that Trust didn't offer the latest driver...
with the new ones the voice does not get distorted anymore - but it is way too low - the others can't hear sh**

all levels are set to maximum - i'll try an older version and let you know.
fulcrum1981_
i just figured it out how it works - but it's that strange so i don't know if it applies to all users!!!

in the audio settings you can select "recording" (translated from german version)
here i have line in and microphone
the strange thing is that if you switch off just one of them you switch the headset microphone off.

as long as i had both at the maximum level i could not be heard by my counterparts
but as i lowered line-in to only 1/3 and the microphone to 2/3 i got the best results in terms of loud AND clear voice (voice is still a bit distorted as if i would be putting a towel over my phone) - i had to try several minutes with a friend of mine to find this settings...

if being deconnected and reconnecting again i have to choose the same settings again as they are getting lost.

don't ask me why 1/3 and 2/3 of maximum indicated volume means max volume overall - but i hope it works for you that way as well.

strange world of Micro$oft...

at least i can say now: Bluetrek G2 headset works fine with skype and cell phone ;-)

if anyone of you finds a programm to regulate the level of the microphone seperately and that also has a noise filter - pls let me know!
bobbigill_
Hi,

In regards to the mic input volume being too low this is definitely a BUG in v1.2.0.39/41. I tried all settings changes but mic input vol was no good and even when shouting into the mic the sound was distorted.

I tried with v 1.1.0.61/79 and it works perfectly. Hopefully skype are aware of this and will sort this out but in the mean time best to use previous versions. There have been posts about changing the mic config settings and I have tried them all (inc. checking '1 Mic 20db Up' sound & audio devices for mic -> advanced) but these will make no difference

Bobbi

I have now managed to get it working on my VAIO Notebook. After everyone put the "PATCH" off his Page, there was no way installing the Widcomm Software.

So i tried the Bluesoleil and it worked after only 2 hours hard trying...

You will do it in less than 20 minutes...

Hi,

I have been trawling thu all the posts and tried virtually everything.
My system: win xp sp2, linksys usbbt100, Bluetrek G2 headset.

I have installed the linksys dongle fine. It is using Widcomm 1.4.2.8

I can hear my pc thru the earphone of the headset but cannot get the headset mic to pick anything up.

When I test hardware under the sound control panel the mic is not functioning at all. My normal sound card works fine to playback and record.

I have tried installing the files Anders suggests but they do not work with the linksys dongle.

I have called Linksys support and wasted 20 mins of my life! " So you have a bluetooth dongle. And a headset? So you want to share data bewteen the two?" "No, I want to speak to the computer via the headset mic". "Oh, have you tried installing the dongle?" "Oh, give me a break!!!!! etc.

The sound tabs are greyed out also, under bluetooth audio - device volume - which is set to low. Under voice recording the advanced button is greyed out. Likewise under sound recording. The sound/voice playback advanced buttons are not greyed out.

I can only think this is a driver problem from linksys. Anyone know a workaround for this. Any help greatly appreciated.
priegog_
hey, well, i can't think of anything... i would try to update the widcomm drivers to the newest version, the 4.xxx.xxx.xxx. PM me if you need those drivers. i have them.

running on a sony vaio with winxp sp2 and widcomm 1.4.2.10

After a couple of nights trying around - and consulting an MCSE - i managed to bring my headset working! bigsmile.png

In general i followed your instructions. I deleted all bluetooth equipment ,renamed the bth.inf file in bth.bak and the bth.pnf in bth.pn_. Then i deleted all drivers beginning with bth.... from the inf and the system32/drivers folder. Afterwards i deleted the bth entry with regedit.

If you plugin the bth dongle after the restart it shouldn`t find any drivers now. remove the dongle -install the widcomm drivers comming with the bluetooth dongle - at the end its asking for the bluetooth hardware - but didn´t find it in my case - anyway - restart - suddenly i had the BT symbol and it was withe

i connected the headset - everything was perfect - but when i tried to call the skype echo - i regonized the microphone was not working properly - i could barely hear myself. When i tried to change the mic volume it was greyed out - not possible to change.

So i was starting to google around again - then i found a hint in another forum - there is something wrong in the skype software.
:!: close skype - open c:..........user/application data/skype/yourusername/config.xml . change the mic vol entry from 256 to 255 - and suddenly - it was working!

i provide some links - hopefully they help ya out
8 ) Activate Bluetooth on your PC and pair with your headset according to the manual (quite simple but it takes a few steps)....

9) Close Skype completely, restart Skype and then choose "Bluetooth Audio" as sound input and output in Skype. Close and reopen Skype again.

10) Connect your headset from the PC ("My Bluetooth places") and receive the incoming call on the headset itself (press "accept call" button when you hear a sound in the headset).
re 9) In fact, you don't have to select "Bluetooth audio" in skype, just make sure you have set Audio In and Audio Out to "Windows default device". The reason for this is that as soon as you pair your BT headset with your pc, Windows sets Bluetooth Audio as your default device, as you can verify by going into Control Panel>Sound and Audio devices>Audio.

However Skype doesn't adopt the new default device unless you quit (=unload from memory) and restart Skype.
Same is true when removing the Bluetooth connection. If you then want to use Skype with an ordinary headset, you have to quit and restart Skype again.

Anders, you did quite a good job of instructing how to activate a BT headset with Skype: many thanks! Just a query: as you mentioned, the headset is in call mode once it is connected, which drains the battery. Is there any way of avoiding this? Cheers.

Hi - I've been using Skype for quite a while and today installed a Bluetooth USB device. When testing on echo123 - I can clearly hear the lady's voice, but the response is a weird blurry sound, as if I was standing in a big factory.

The BT device is a Sitecom CN-502
Headset: tried B-Speech Elect aswell as BT-101 (C-Tech)

according to windows info, the Widcom driver is 1.4.2.8, dated 17.06.2003. I know this is before XP SP2, but the BT connection works fine one way.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I can't find the iNFO i need. :?

I got SKYPE installed and my Sony Vaio have found my bluetooth headset (Sony Ericsson HBH-660), but SKYPE don't find my bluetooth device.

What's the problem?
benpal_
1. Pair your headset with the PC.

2. check Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio. The default device should now show Bluetooth Audio. If it doesn't, your Bluetooth settings might be wrong.

3. quit, then restart Skype so that it picks up the correct default device.

Note: your audio settings in Skype must point to the "Default Audio Device"

Hi - this is in addition to what I wrote yesterday.

I have a suspicion :-) could it be, that the profile is missing for that headset?

When the pairing is complete, the icon displayed in my bluetooth environment on the PC are headphones (!) - no headset with a microphone. Also the icon's description says 'headphone'.

In this context, the findings would make sense: very clear tone for what other people say, but only noise from my side on the other end (echo123).

Any idea?

thx

The headset/phones are just symbols/icons. When you go to My Bluetooth Places, you should see the headset/phones and the name of the device (e.g. Logitech HS01-V16 Logitech HS01-V16 connected).

I had this noise also! I solved it by doing the following:

1. Before paring the headset, close (quit) Skype completely, including the icon in the notification bar at the bottom of your screen.

2. Open Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Settings>Audio. In Sounds and Audio Device Properties, verify that both Sound Playback and Sound Recording indicate Bluetooth Audio (should switch automatically to this one you have paired Bluetooth.

3. Under Sound Playback click Volume. Make sure none of the devices are Mute (or all devices are selected) with the exception of Microphone if present! Microphone in Sound Playback must be disabled!

4. Under Sound Recording, click Volume. Make sure, the Micropone is enabled (not mute).

5. Still in Sounds and Audio Device Properties, click on the tab Voice. Make sure, Bluetooth Audio is NOT selected in Voice Plackback and in Voice Recording. This should be set the standard sound device.

6. restart Skype. in Skype, go to Tools>Options>Sound Devices. Make sure Audio In and Audio Out is set to Windows Default Device.
Try with "Enable automatic sound device settings adjustments" checked and unchecked.
You might also want to search for <AGC> in this forum and set the corresponding parameters in config.xml to 0. http://forum.skype.com/viewtopic.php?t=250...+mic+vol+volume

Let me know if it works for you.
