Hello everybody.
I have a problem with my webcam, an OLD version of the Logitech QuickCam Messenger (find attached the pictures of both the new and the old version, to be clearer. The new one is the first one, the old one is the second one).
When I start a call, Skype understands that I have a webcam, lets me start the video but doesn't display anything (just a white box). I'm sure the webcam is working fine because it's ok with other programs (e.g. aMSN). Do you know if and how can I fix it?
Thank you in advance.
Claudius
Which graphics adapter do you have and which drivers do you use for both the graphics adapter and the webcam?

Hi,

search for gstfakevideo in the forum. Or look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SkypeWebCams

I also have this webcam and it's working with gstfakevideo.

Best regards,
Whoopie

I searched for gstfakevideo in the skype forum but I didn't get any result. Can you give a link please?
However, I found the page on the ubuntu wiki, as you told me. I'll try it as soon as I can.
Thank you very much for your help.

Wow, now it's nearly working... I can see the video from the webcam, but it's only displayed in a very very little box on the top of my window (and in black & white, too). Do you know how to make it look a bit better? I don't need beautiful results!

Thank you again for your patience.

Can you provide a screenshot of the current status?

Andy.

No! :-P because I fixed it. The only problem I have now is the brightness, but as far as I know is a common problem to many people, and not easy to fix.

Thank you all for you help, much appreciated.
