Hi,

Has anyone managed to get this webcam to work on Skype for Linux using the beta release with webcam support? I've read a few posts where the nearest people seem to have got is about 5% of the cam working at the top and the rest of the picture is noise, green or pink. I'm currently in that situation with Ubuntu 7.10. I know my webcam will work in Linux as it works perfectly in ekiga after updating the USB drivers.

Has anyone had any success with this cam or any workarounds to make it work? It seems to be one of the most popular webcam's logitech have sold and are still selling so i'm surprised that it doesn't work with Skype.

just upgraded my machine to Ubuntu 8.04 alpha with a new kernel 2.6.24-5 and also re-installed the uvc drivers but still the same problem in skype, so it definately looks like a skype bug with this webcam. Cam still works perfectly in ekiga.

Did you fetch the latest uvc-drivers from svn-checkout?

Yes I got the latest drivers using the checkout also after upgrading to the new kernel. Looking around the various forums I haven't managed to find anyone who has managed to get this cam working properly with skype, the closest seems to be the cam viewer showing about 5% at the top, you can see the camera moving and actually see it works but the other 90% ish of the test screen is all green lines and noise.

I'm hoping the next beta release may fix the problem, fingers crossed.

This webcam is supposed to be certified by Skype but I guess that was for the Windows version of skype only?

certified info from the logitech website http://ir.logitech.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=180923
