Full Version: Questions re: setting up my biz with skype

I'm looking for alternatives for phones for my biz. Though I handle everything for my business, I currently have several different divisions (companies) that I would like to have separate phone/voicemails for each division.

Right now I have one phone number with GrandCentral.com that rings all my phones (landlines & cell). If I don't pick up it goes into GrandCentral voicemail. Since only one outgoing voice message is provided, it's difficult to make it personalized for any particular division of my company.

So here are my questions...

Does each SkypeIN number have its own voicemail?

If I forward my one SkypeIN number to another, how can I insure the caller will hear the voicemail for the SkypeIN number they called and not the voicemail of the the forwarded call?

How can I have different Skype accounts for each division? And have a control panel opened for each one at the same time?

Thanks for any help or suggestions you can provide.

You can use PrettyMay Call Center for Skype to set up a Skype based phone system for your business, with it, you just need one central Skype account/SkypeIn number for your business, and assign your employees' SkypeIds into Extensions with personalized voicemail inbox, etc.

Hi DKC,

Thanks for your enquiry.

In short, I would recommend setting up a Skype Business Control Panel. You will then be able to gather and group all user accounts, as well as assign and reassign your company-owned SkypeIn numbers.

It is up to you whether you want to have a Control Panel for each company or combine all in one. Points to think about are assigning administrators and passsword protection across different companies and that Business Control Panels have one sublevel.

If voicemail is activated, then the voicemail is directed to the SkypeName that the SkypeIn number is assigned to.

If you choose to forward your calls from SkypeIn numbers and no one answers - it will be the voicemail of the original SkypeIn number that is used.

Kind regards,

Hi, thank for the reply. I've checked out the PrettyMay Call Center for Skype and though it looks great, it may be a bit much for me right now. I'm the only employee, but I do like the different extension options. Perhaps in the future.

There is a FREE Extra I have created called Call Transfer, you can see if this will work for you, it can be downloaded and installed by clicking on the Skype Client window:

Tools -> Do More -> Get Extras -> Community -> Click the Green Arrow on the Call Transfer Item

You can also read more about it here, and download it from here as well:
