Hello,
More or less since I use Skype 2.0 beta for Ubuntu, and most of all since I let indications come up about connections and disconnections I have the impression that the Skype network has a high latency.
The problem is:
People in my friend list (having WinXP) often get disconnected for less than a minute and reconnect. I know they have done nothing to their computer and not moved (so wifi signal is unchanged). As I remember, it is a P2P technology relying on the program. So either it is the version of Skype for Windows or the version for Linux that has problems to maintain connection (ping) with other clients.
Hop, just happened to me this time again (full wifi signal). surprised.png
Skype 2 Beta is very stable and is a great improvement from my point of view.
A little feature should be nevertheless not to cut words in the middle when writing in chat.
Thanks for S2beta 4 Linux !!!

I don't know of any high latency issues on the Skype network. The network itself is made up of P2P nodes essentially, however it's pretty smart to not allow things to get out of hand with latency. If your link is saturated, there is always the possibility this will affect your latency however.

A little feature should be nevertheless not to cut words in the middle when writing in chat.

Thanks for the feedback -- I've fixed this for the next release.

Andy.

none of both computer I looked at were saturated as I and my colleagues were barely using them during our course (no download or stuff). Then I just don't know to what this is due to.
As I don't want to post everywhere, I just suggest a little teeth-grinning smiley and another with :-/

Thanks for having fixed the issue for word-cuts anyway smile.png and thanks for this great Skype for Linux version!
