Hi,

My password has been changed automatically!! as when i open my computer and skype start it says "your password has been changed for security reasons to prevent other users bla....". I tried to retrieve my password via getting the tokens but the email does not match (i have tried to type using different email names and still not able to match, it seems they also changed my email address).

I've send a support email to skype yesterday but up to now no reply from them. I have provided my paypal invoices for them to verify my account.

With this i'm a bit worried that someone can just steal your password and use your skypeout credit balance. I have removed my credit card in my paypal account just to make sure no one can automatically reload.

Can any one help me on this? how will i get back my skypeout balance?

the password can only be changed if som someone knows it... so it seems that is what happened. anyway, the important thing right now is to get your account back. luckily where you have made purchases with skype before they can use the details of the purchase to verify your identity and hand the account over back to you.

you said you sent a support request. please note they take a minimum of 4 working days to reply.

if after that time you do not hear from them you can try posting your skype name here and if a member of the moderating team sees your post they may forward your details to skype staff.

A guy name patrick from skype responded to my support call and he mentioned someone could have access my account and change my email as well, so they put back my email address in my account and ask me to change my password via the get tokens but after i have tried several times, still no tokens is being sent to my email account. So i'm not sure if this Patrick is really from skype!!!!!!, now i'm getting more worried!!!!!!

Also, this morning i have received an email from skype that i have purchased skypeout credit, the hacker/pisher who stole my skype account is trying to buy skypeout credit on my husband paypal account as i have set-up the "paypal pre-approved options" but i'm one step ahead since the moment i have this problem i already ask my husband to removed his credit card from his paypal account.

[b]This is a very serious FRAUD being comitted in SKYPE[/b][size=5], so hopefully this will be corrected soon and no other skype users who will had the same experience.

Yesterday, I failed to log and got the same message. I tried retrieving my password:

#1 - Clicked the link "forgotten password"
#2 - Arrived at the page "Forgotten your password?" and submitted my email address
#3 - Got a confirmation to get check my email
#4 - Got a token and clicked an activation link
#5 - Got a webpage with two text fields and submitted a new password + verified it
#6 - Got an error message "Unknown error occured. Please try again later".
#7 - Clicked the activation link once again, but received an error "This code has already been used to reset a password and no longer valid"

i got the same problem.

I have two skpe ID's

first i have an ID:- "phanimadhava" it got blocked in the same away as above menctioned passowrd has been automatically changed iand i was unable to change it to new password. and i have created other id:-"mlninfotech" i phased the same prob even with this ID.

i been back of skype support from last 10 days i have recived only one reply to send snapshots and then after there is no respose from support can any one help me on this regard iam really un happy and phazing lot of problems with out having my contacts.

Here I am attaching the snapshots of the errors I am getting please check and help me out in this regard,

1. In first snapshot Skypeerror-1 it shows how I am phasing problem in logging in

2. The second snapshot shows I was unable to change the password it says try again I tried many times it have not changed and after few times it says day limit of temporary ID's has been finished.

please help me with these issues

I haven’t find any resolution please understand and help me with resolution

Here I have another issue I have created a new Skype ID:- mlninfotech I worked on that for a week or so and even this id is blocked

I will let you know how things are happening

When I go ahead and try login in to my ID mlninfotech it starts giving an error like this

" you recently changed your password. Sign in with the new password to call a phone or a mobile. This is a security measure to prevent your Skype account being abused. "

but I did not change the password when try logging in once again it will give an error for error message please refer attachment Skype error2

and when I try to get a new password it says an error for error message please refer attachment Skype error1

I am really getting frustrated because I have two ID's both of them are blocked, what should I do now. can u get an immediate resolution for me

Now all two Id's got blocked one is "phanimadhava" the other one is "mlninfotech" and in my ID "phanimadhava" it also has Skype subscription. it been almost 10 days of subscription I lost till now

the same thing happened to me on the Skype account I use for work, when I was trying to log in last Friday, there was a prompt that my password has been changed for security reasons, I have not given out my password to anyone so I was slightly worried, but requested for a new password right away.

I got the password tokens and used them all up, as everytime I reset the password, it encounters the unknown error message. this is the third day and I really am panicking as that account is my lifeline for work. sadsmile.png

I have attached a screencap of the error message. I hope I can get this account back.. I'm desperate.

this same problem just popped up for me an hour or two ago. my skype was sitting there minding its own business when suddenly there was the pop-up saying my password had been changed and asking me to please sign in. i did not change my password and i can't ask for a new one because it seems my email connected to skype has been changed too. if someone could please help me...skype is the only way i can contact several of my friends and i don't have their skype names memorized or anything.

the account i'm talking about is banjinojoshin
and the email connected to it WAS the same email connected to this forum username. please someone help if you can

I had the same problem as well, except that I did not get any new password or any instructions on changing the password in my email after entering my email address in https://secure.skype.com/account/password-reset-request page. The email address that I entered was still accepted, and the message said that the email was already sent. I had checked my email, including my spam folder but I did not receive any email from Skype.

I had also sent an email to the support, still waiting for their answer. The problem occurred last night.

Could anyone help me, please?

I finally got the mail from Skype for the password token, but when I tried changing the password, the following error was shown: "Unknown error occured. Please try again later." (I can provide a screen shot of the error if needed).

Could anyone advise me on the matter, please?

I've been locked out of my account for 3 days now - similar situation - you get 3 attempts to unlock with a temporary password (token) each day and then you're locked out for a further 24 hours. I've had service 2 emails from Skype one said the system had not been able to generate new passwords since 31st August and the other indicated the "technician" didn't understand the problem.

Frankly the service stinks - I pay for international landline & mobile calls (auto top-up by credit card) and am increasingly worried my card will be hijacked. You can't talk to anyone direct at skype, the tokens today arrived 5 hours after they were requested....so perhaps we're just the tip of the iceberg here, and now I have to look elsewhere for PAYG calls while travelling.

How ebay think they'll sell skype with such poor levels of customer care (particularly for PAYING customers) is beyond my imagination.

Hello Overlord. I have the same issue. I have tried resetting the password but the tokens wereexpired before I get them (many hours after the request is made)and now I am locked out from requesting any more. Please let me know what is happening.

"The password system has been fixed. If you tried to reset your password, but haven’t received an email yet, you should get one in the next few hours.

However, the reset code you receive may now have expired – please try the code provided in the most recent email you receive, and if that doesn’t work, head over here and try again.

Unfortunately our password system is having a few hiccups – if you’ve forgotten your password, there may be some delays before you’re able to reset it"

As said before, the problem has not been resolved and why did our accounts password get changed if not by us? was it system failure, malicious damage or attempted hijack? Skype is playing down this issue but given the prolonged delays in getting tokens emailled to us and then finding they don't resolve the problem I think Skype are trying to keep the lid on a much bigger problem. "Hiccups" is hardly a suitable term for a 3 day failure!

Here's one for you guys.
5 days ago using Skype to communicate wife my wife who's working overseas in Africa and our only way to chat to other than making expensive telephone calls notice my Skype automatically go into busy mode then shutdown.
On trying to restart would not accept password.Then tried to input my email address to retrieve password.Would not accept email address.So then used lost my email address link.24 hours later received a token to change password.Entered told me out of date.So back to skype same muck around again.In the mean time had to transfer funds from bank account and notice amount of $48.00 was pending.had not used account of days so rang bank and queried.Was informed that its was for 3 $16.00 amounts from Skype.Straight away froze the account then try to contact Skype.Cound not find a contact phone number email address of fax number anywhere.Cut a long story short finished up here on the forum and managed to get email contact with en_support.Waited a day for response and got that robot email that we all have had from skype.it contained the words that skype would not be responsible for any debits on my credit card as I had given then details out.Again rang bank to see what could be done as was informed by the bank that I was to inform skype as I had already informed that my credit card had been tampered with that they were responsible for any debit after i had informed.So email en_support again and at last get email in couple hours asking for visa cards details first four digits last four digits etc.
Supply with details.This morning three emails appear reversing the amounts.Then went to skype log for new password token appeared in five minutes and all working again. 5 days from start to finish, heart attack over bank account and 50 bucks worth of calls to wife.Real great services from a billion dollar company.And still no explain to what happened.Good luck guys we going to install our own private chat line and when credits run out on skype phone will not renew.All I can really say is thanks for nothing.

I still got the same error when I tried changing the password again ("Unknown error occured. Please try again later."). Made me wonder if it is really resolved.

Good luck. I waited over 20 days and didn't have any response. Finally I get an email saying that my account was cancelled and Skype is sorry that I'm leaving.

I sent emails for 20 days straight but receive NO response.


Guess they dont want our business anymore.

Have finally got skype back.
Money reversed back my account.

Sitting on computer yesterday afternoon catching up with wife when lost total control of computer.
Had remote desk top engaged.Engaged number of days ago to fix problem on wife's computer.Never turned off.

So now have discovered how they gain access to computer and Skype.

All of sudden up came change Skype password box.Hit the kill button on satellite modem .Went into Firewall removed all tick in box.Then logged back in all was good.So have learned great lesson out of this.
KEEP THE REMOTE DESK TOP SHARING TURNED OFF.

DO NOT SHARE FILES OR FOLDERS

Keep the on off switch of the power supply close by.


So hoping this may answer few questions for you guys on how these hackers are gaining access.

Good luck hope you get you Skype Shortly.
