I downloaded the updated emoticons for linux, but I couldn't figure out where to put the directory so that the emoticons appear in the chat interface. I tried grepping for gifs and emoticons, and they couldn't be found on my machine (but the old versions appear on the interface, and some new emoticons are there when I type them explicitly). I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know.

Hi -- from where did you download these custom emoticons?

Skype currently doesn't support custom emoticons on any platform.
