Skype Community > English > Skype for Linux

Hi... Ok, it's a silly mistake, but i accidentally removed my Skype icon from my Ubuntu system tray (Ubuntu 7.10, Skype 1.4)

Skype will still run, but if i close the main window, i have no way of opening it again without the Skype icon in the system tray. I have uninstalled and reinstalled skype but no joy.

Can anyone give me a little help? I'm sure it's something really simple... HELP!

Thanks!

Try
CODE
rm ~/.local/share/applications/skype.desktop

If that doesn't do it or you are missing the icon, try reinstalling skype again and hopefully it will be fixed.

As far as I know, you can't disable/remove the Skype notification area icon, unless you remove/disable the notification area alltogether. Do other icons appear there? If not, re-add the notification area plugin to your gnome panel.
