Full Version: Already-played messages reappear as new on opening

Michael Massing
Dear Skype team:

Already-played messages keep reappearing as new when I open Skype 2.7.0.49.

As of this morning and several times before, this included messages going back to 2007/10/19. After reinstalling Skype 2.7.0.49 this morning, only the most recent 2 messages, from 2007/11/08, appeared but this may not be significant. I think I've seen some variability before in how many messages reappear and how old they are.

Some possible variables:

• I have two Skype-in numbers.
• I had briefly turned on (then off) auto-record calls, including messages, in eCamm's Call Recorder v2.2, installed on or around 2007/10/09.
• The problem may have arisen after I marked all new calls as "viewed" before listening to them (but for the last week or so I have not been doing that).

Thanks,
M.

After a couple more weeks of this erratic behavior, with the number of old messages re-presenting as new ranging from 0 to 16, I switched back to the current release.

Best to all,
M.

Just a reminder if you haven't noticed. You can download the newest 2.7 version released a few days ago from here.

Have you tried the usual?

Quit Skype.

Delete the file Macintosh HD:Library/Preferences/com.skype.skype.plist

Delete the file User/Library/Preferences/com.skype.skype.plist

Delete the folder User/Library/Application Support/Skype

Launch Skype.

would that also solve the mapping into Skype of my DiD phone #?

I wouldn't know as I can't reproduce since I don't use that kind of service. smile.png

But it is safe to try it anyway. It will only do good for you. It justs resets Skype preferences.

I took a look at the Application Support/Skype folder and decided not to delete it, since it seemed to hold my message history. But deleting the two prefs files may have done the trick. Thanks!

All the best,

I'm glad it worked. Enjoy Skype smile.png
