Two suggestions here - firstly, don't take calls from people you don't know. And secondly, just block all further calls from that user. Just go to your History tab, find the entry for the call from that user, right-click on it, and select Block This User.

First, to MasterDev.org : I don't doubt about YOUR complaint, and from the way your wrote and the way your replied, i think this was a VERY legitimated complaint!

I know it happens quite often.

Now ... i believe we should be careful and investigation should be done by Skype before blocking or destroying the account of somebody.

Suppose i have a quarrel with somebody and want to have some kind of vengeance, then i could just post here a FALSE similar complaint, and have this guy "punished" illegitimately ???

So, again:

1. complaining here should be authorised
2. the "attacked" user should be advised to block the abusing contact
3. Skype should (could?) investigate
4. Skype should block this account if and only if there is enough evidence!

out of curiosity (bad character trait ) i searched for the "accused" user (by the published username).

In the last 2 days I have been bombarded by invitations from porn operators, most accompanied by very gratuitous pictures and sleazy invite messages. Can something be done about this? How are they getting my user name? I do not give it out, only friends and family have it.

If this continues, I'll have no choice but to stop using Skype. I love Skype but this is terribly embarrassing when it happens at work.

Skype needs to get more diligent in their user sign up and verification processes. Blocking the occasional user is all well and good but when I get 10-20 invites a day from multiple malfeasants, well, that's too much.

Your Skype profile is accessible to everyone (via Skype search) so make sure you don't give too much information there, like e-mail etc. Spammers work a lot via e-mail address search so this is the one thing you should take care first. Another thing you could do is change your privacy settings to "Allow chats from: Only people from my Contact list can start".

I dont want to block users that are not in my list to call me or send messages, becouse I have friends of mine that call me often without to add me in their list, so I don't want to add them too. This problem with porn abusers is not my problem...

I have been getting porn instant messages just about every day. They seem to arrive in the middle of the night. They are asking me to visit a link that is obviously a porn website. I have blocked them but would like to do something more to block unsolicited instant messages from anyone not on my list.

I am getting several of these a week. I will report it to abuse@skype but I block it every time and it's always a new screenname. The only thing in common is that they're all directing to a website at pusu.us. I can see in earlier postings that they used a different website before. I wish there were a way for Skype to banish the entire domain or everything owned by the same people. The pusus.us website is hosted in Germany and owned by this person in Turkey:

I even put as my message that if you are not on my list don't message me and these creeps still keep messaging me. There is got to be a way of stopping these guys without having to change my security settings.

When is Skype going to put a stop to these spammers. They are obviously all coming from the same groups of spammers. Block their IP addresses already!

You can turn your privacy to restrict mode
1) Open Skype and click Tools - Options on the menu
2) Click privacy
3) Click Show advanced options
4) Allow Calls from 'only people in my contact list', Automatically receive video from 'no-one', show that I have video to 'no-one', Allow chats from 'only people in my contact list', Uncheck 'allow my status to be shown on the web'....

But you will still receive contact invitation

The point of it all is that we should not have to deal with these without dealing with security settings at all. I am getting to the point that I will stop using skype if Skype don't start fixing this. In am up to 13 blocked users because of this now.

This type of abuse will continue until Skype introduces a Stinger Button on the call history page.

It would be very simple to implement. If someone receives an obscene call/chat they have a button to click to record that it was an unwanted call by caller X.

As soon as a score of (say) 20 stings has accumulated then that account should be automatically locked for 5 days. Skype could then start automatically tracking the IP addresses involved and then blacklist them.
