Full Version: Mac Leopard Logitech Quickcam Fusion

Hello Folks,

I am new here and trying to get my Logitech Quickcam Fusion to work with Mac OSX Leopard. I have just downloaded the latest version of Skype and also the beta 2.7. Installed both and the camera is not recognized at all in the video preferences. My camera does work however with Skype Windows if I switch over to my Windows XP Bootcamp partition.

I am trying to communicate with family from Mac to PC using OSX. I have also installed the mac.cam component into my library/quicktime folder but that did not work either. I also tried to run MacCam, but that also did not work.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim

Hi, I have this webcam (the same you can find at Online Applestore) and it's works out of the box with no drivers as it is UVC compliant.

Maybe you are using a USB hub, or something else can have problems?

Have you tried uninstalling Macam and installing IOXperts drivers?

Hi, sorry I did not reply sooner, but I guess I did not get an e-mail notification that you had responded to my post. Yes, I have tried the macam drivers and their stand alone app, but none work. Did you say that you had the exact same camera as I have the Logitech Quickcam Fusion?

Are you using 10.5.1 Leopard? I could not get my camera to work in Tiger either.

I would really appreciate it if you could try and run it using Leopard. I'm assuming that is correct that you have a Quickcam Fusion? Is it a new one? Mine is about 3 years old. I had heard that newer ones will work, but not older ones. Have you used it, using the newest Skype for Mac and ever chatted with someone using Skype PC?

Thanks,
carolaclavo
Mine is the same listed in the Apple Store, or it looks so similar like a twin smile.png Tomorrow I will bring it home, I have it at work but this week there are a couple holidays.

Hmm, I can't find any webcam listed on the Apple Store web site. Can you provide a link so I can take a look at it? Many thanks,

Hope this points you in the right direction: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebO...;nplm=TQ594LL/A

I confess to knowing nothing whatsoever about this camera. I was (for a change) foresighted enough to buy an iSight when I bought my G4 Powerbook a few years ago, and that's what I've been using. Good luck...

Many thanks for the useful link. Weird, I tried to do all kinds of searches on the Apple Store sight and could not find a single web cam. Go figure.

Anyway, it seems this model is not compatible with either photo booth nor Imovie. If I'm going to spend that kind of bucks, I'd kind of like it to be fully compatible with the new stuff in Leopard.

Many thanks for your help though!

Ah, ok, now I see the image that you posted and yes, it looks exactly like the one I have. Perhaps it might be a newer version, not sure. Anyway I appreciate your helpfulness and will do some more checking after the holidays as I will be out of town for most of the rest of Dec. anyway.

Again thank, I will get it working soon I hope.

I tried it this days and it works, no drivers needed at all smile.png But the image looks a little dark, more than at work computer (work computer uses OSX 10.4).
