I am a user of Nokia Communicator E 90 and very keen to use Skype on my phone but found no solution available. One day I was looking into a HTC phone with Windows having version 5 and I downloaded Skype on the same. To my disbelief I found SKYPE working greatly on that device. With my heart set on to buy this Device, I ventured for a new HTC phone and bought one of the best HTC Diamond. I tried my best to make it work but could not make it work. I went through lot of websites and came across IM+ for Skype, I purchased the licence copy and tried to work, it did not work even though I could see my active contacts and it dialed also but finally there is no voice at both end. One can see it dialing, one can get active signs of answer now etc on the calling handset but still it does not work. I have downloaded Skype 2.2 for PDA and that too did not work and shows it does not work on this phone. I am sure there are so many Genius people in this community would have found a solution to this issue. i presume it is not the brand HTC which is not comaptible but it is Windows 6.1 version which does not support Skype.
I would also state, that I purchased unlimited world to ensure that I might not be able to use Skype for calling in the absence of funds, but this also did not help.
May be it is intentional at the part of Microsoft or Skype whosoever is not in favaour of allowing their software or device to work/
Now I would like some one to help me to set my device and explain how to set my Windows Mobile 6.1 to use it with Skype. If some one can help me it will be a Great help. Looking for solutions.
Thanks in anticipation and for time devoted in reading and solution of the problem

Hi Ramish,
The gurus at Skype help tell me that Skype does not support Windows Mobile 6. Don't bother trying until they have the update ready. Hope it comes soon as promised!

I have the same phone and the same problem
I installed a soft named "ISkoot for Skype"
big mistake. don`t do it because it`s making unauthorized calls to UK.
you think you are making a comp to comp call but you are actually calling a landline in uk and get routed to the destination computer. I was lucky to be paranoid enough and I replaced my subscribed SIM with a prepaid one. This way I found out about the call.

May I know what version of Windows you are using where Skype version 2.1.0.66 is supported. As far as what I have researched on this subject, this particular version does not support Windows 6.1

Hey all, Skype is not working on WM 6.1. However I recommend to install Fringe ! It works perfectly on HTC Diamond and includes SKype, ICQ, MSN and other in one application. Superb

It is correct to state that Fringe connects Skype but no one has stated that it first dials a UK number and then shows you connected. The whole charm of using Skype is defeated when the user does not know that one is talking on Skype to another user of Skype by paying a call for UK. Skype has been developed with a slogan of free call to any Skype user but in this case you pay for all Skype calls
Let this be know to all users of FRINGE that they have a disadvantage if one is using Skype through Fringe

This is incorrect. Skype is now working on Windows Mobile 6.1.
Do a search on this forum, the answer is there and this issue is resolved now. Specifically, see posts in this thread:
http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=112059Look for all post activity between July 26, 2008 and July 29, 2008. There is a link there for working version of Skype for Windows Mobile 6.1.

See the post above. There is no need to call Skype through Fringe, as there is now a working version of Skype for Windows Mobile 6.1.

Hi there, how did you get it to work? Did you tweak it at all?
I can't seem to get the audio working properly never mind the video. Skype is installed and whenever I do a test call, I cant hear anything but hissing.
Any advice would be helpful.
I have the htc touch diamond too.
Thanks

How's the Skype sound quality on the HTC Diamond?

hi!
I've installed skype (PPC version) in HTC Diamond.
I have problems with call quality. The voice of the person I am calling (skype out) is extremely loud, as if I was using handsfree. Then the other person can hear himself and, since there is also quite a delay, it is impossible to have a conversation.
I am using wifi connexion. I tried both with and without echo cancellation without success.
Any help with this?

Hi,
I've installed Skype (Pocket PC edition) on my HTC Diamond provided by TELUS. I use Skype for messaging only.
However, when I was at home and connected to WiFi, it connected and listed me as online and showed me all my contacts. A few minutes later, I stepped out for a walk.. and later, at a park, I noticed that I was now offline and showed my contacts as offline. Why did this happpen and how can I prevent this?
Also, while connected at home, I tried testing it by messaging from a friend's Skype. It did NOT give me any notification of a message being received till I hit the "Chats" tab and there it was. How come there is no notification?

Then, the status changes on idle don't work either.

You can't as far as I know. This was a "feature" introduced in the desktop versions to recognize mobile users.

Did you have internet connection in the park? If you had 3G internet connection, handover from wifi (you used at home) is done only if you set up skype to use both wifi and 3g not wifi only. This is a setting in skype options. When Skype doesn't find any internet connectivity it will show you contacts offline and will show you yourself offline too.
Chat notifications should pop up in homescreen, I don't know if HTCs Touchflow homescreen affects this in any way.
I presume these where the questions you reffered to

Yes, my network supports EVDO and I have a data plan where I'm always almost connected to EVDO. I'm thinking the handoff didn't happen, because it's set to WiFi and 3G.
HTC's TF3D affecting chat notifications could be true. However, there should atleast be a sound notification?
Thanks for answering.

So you have HTC Touch CDMA version. Do voice calls work for you with wifi? Sound and everything? I'm asking cause some people on the forum report problems. I'm trying to figure out if it is a CDMA issue or something else.
Regarding your handover. Did you try logging into Skype when you have not wifi connection? Quit Skype, stop wifi, start skype and try to connect. Does it connect?

I guess I'll home in on the contacts tab before switching back to regular screen so I could see if it vibes+notifies.

Hi Peter,
I also have a Telus (CDMA) Diamond and Skype Out works perfect on wifi.
My problem still is with the speaker though. It reallly sucks to have to use the speakerphone (I understand the reason why I just don't like it)
To the other Telus user:
I hope you realize that Telus does NOT permit VOIP on EVDO. They will send you a warning letter as this is clearly stated on their Fair Usage Policy. Limit skype to WIFI only.
Cheers.

You download the latest .exe for Skype for Windows Mobile Pocket PC to your computer, you connect your diamond to your computer with usb cable and you run the .exe file on your computer! Follow the onscreen instructions.

Hi,
Ive just installed and made my first skypeout calls on the HTC Diamond Touch, the call works well however the sound comes out through the loud speaker at the top rather than the normal earphone speaker on the front.. any advice?
Also wondering if anyone can answer how much data is used per minute if accessing via a 3g network instead of a WiFi connection?
Thanks

Regarding problems with calls quality when using skype mobile....
I understand that we have to use a wired headset to resolve the above issue because it is currently not fixable. However, using the wired headset requires you to speak in to the speaker phone and I that is vulnerable to background noise. I'm wonder if I can use a headset that has a microphone positioned directly in front of the mouth. Perhaps like this one:
http://shop.skype.com/headsets/plantronics...pc-headset.html and use some sort of an adapter? Is there such and adapter? Would that work? What would be even nicer is if I could find a wireless headset. Know of any that would work?
Thanks!

I suggest you contact 3 directly about your connection issue.
Skype on other phones at 3 doesn't use internet connection but its a Skype version that connects through gsm connection to 3 servers.

Headset is speakers + microfone. Headphones is just speakers.
I mean wired headset so you should have a microfone next to your mounth.
Also I don't really understand what you mean by speaking into the speakerphone. Do you mean the device microphone? Speakerphone is the device where the sound comes out of.
If you use your device with the integrated microphone and headphones than the problem you describe is correct. That is why I suggest a wired headset not a headphone.

I will assume you have an HTC Touch Diamond since you posted in this thread.
You will need a headset like this:
http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=155066Diamond does come with a headset in the box though!
What you link to is a headset for PC and won't work with mobiles.
