Maximum lines in call forwarding

I am looking at using call forwarding in to our call centre (as a trial) as an additional way of contacting our call centre. Is there a limit of concurrent calls going to a single skype user id through call forwarding to our call center (except for the number of lines in our call centre)?

This is how I understand it: You get a call to your SkypeIn number that is associated with a Skype username account. This incoming call can be forwarded to just about any number. You pay for the forwarded call with SkypeOut credits. This mean you can only have one active call per Skype username at the same time.

Or am I just missing something?

Thanks.

Those of you with an overwhelming fear of the unknown will be gratified to learn that there is no hidden message revealed by reading this warning backwards, so just ignore that Alert Notice from Microsoft. However, by pouring a complete circle of salt around yourself and your computer you can ensure that no harm befalls you and your pets. More.

You're missing something.. you can login with your Skype username on multiple PCs at the same time. In theory, when a call comes in all the PCs should ring. When one answers the call, the others should stop ringing so they are ready to take other calls. This means that SkypeIn numbers can handle multiple incoming calls. It should also work when forwarding calls, but I don't know if there's a limit on the number of concurrent calls.

Hi Spud, thanks also for the link. I'm desperately updating my Skype setups to get this to work but so far I've only got error messages when I make test calls to my already active SkypeIn number. And calling out when the account / line is open on another devcie gives me Skype error messages, the latest #9482. I never really bothered trying to find a solution since I thought it was just wishful thinking, this information is telling me it's worth the effort. Cheers.

UPDATE ... hope the information can be useful to someone:

With the latest software versions of Skype on PC (XP SP2) and Belkin wi-fi phone, signed in on both with the same username account, I can have one incoming SkypeIn call active on the wi-fi and also make a SkypeOut call from the PC at the same time. However, I can not make two SkypeOut calls at the same time; error code above.

Thus, forwarded calls on the same user account, per OP's question, is perhaps not the best way to go.

UPDATE II
Got word from support confirming that two outgoing calls (two devices same account) at the same time is not possible, as a protective measure (which is explaining the error code I get).

Conclusion: forwarding more than one call at the same time from the same username account is not possible.

Two outgoing calls at the same time from the same account is possible, and they both get logged in the account history. Maybe the limitation applies only to Call Forwarding? If I get the chance I'll test it over the weekend.

It would be great if you find a way to get it to work. In my case, it's just the error code. In support's opinion:

QUOTE

When an outgoing call is placed from one of the computers running Skype and logged in with the same username as you are logged in with then you will not be able to place or receive calls until the person in a call hangs up. This is also a protective measure.
These rules also apply to Skype2Skype communications.

Thanks for posting this thread. I have a similar question. We have one account which is used for business and one Skype-in # (using Skype-Pro). I would like to add extra Skype-in #s, so that if someone calls our current#, I can answer it and if someone calls the other phone#s, the others in our office can answer it (What I'm trying to achieve is to have direct phone #s for individuals and one general phone #). Is this possible with one account (and if so, how)? If it's not possible, how do I sign up for other accounts? I downloaded the latest version of Skype today, thinking that I might be able to sign up for another account BUT I wasn't given that option as Skype found my original account (which is fine usually). Thanks.

You can have up to ten SkypeIn numbers per account.

To start a new account, sign out, then follow this:

I'm not really following your description of your ideal setup but I think the core thing to remember in such scenarios is that a SkypeIn number is always connected to one Skype username account, not several. If you want it to ring on another device, you need to set up call forwarding.
