I can't connect to Skype... The above is what Skype tells me whenever I try to sign in. The problem has occurred before I updated Mac OS X to 10.3.9 and to the newest version of Skype.

Perhaps it's a firewall problem, however, since I'm not a very good Mac OS user (I've been using Windows all the way and just helping someone to configure Skype in Mac OS), I am not sure how to check this. I tried to put Skype into Firewall's "allow" list but they're asking for Port Name (in which Skype is not available) and Port Number, Range or Series which I do not know about.

This may not be the problem in the first place though.

No external firewall programs installed other than the default one by Mac OS, no antivirus or antispyware porgram.

I have exactly the same issues - I have Mac 10.3.9 and upgraded my Skype yesterday to 2.6.0.140 and it hasn't worked ever since. I also don't have a firewall on and have the same problem. I even tried to download an older version which I know works and unfortunately although I got further than the Unable to connect screen it still didn't work. I could see my contacts and they could see me but we could not message or call.

I have logged the unable to connect error with Skype support so hopefully I might get some resolve - I will let you know if this is the case!!!

I'm having exactly the same problem with OS X 10.4.10, Skype 2.6.0.148, no external firewalls in place. Actually... I was having this exact error message until I just signed into forum.skype.com to post this message. I've tried numerous times with both an old client and this new one, with absolutely no success and no indication of why it was failing.

I just signed into the forums here, tried again, and I was authenticated immediately. It looks like it may be some type of database issue on Skype's side rather than a network or client issue.

Though problems still continue to be reported on the heartbeat page... I am starting to have some luck signing in. I was able to log in successfully 3 times in a row now.

I found this post, and I'm having the exact same problems, with the P2P error message and everything, but the heartbeat page only says that credit card payments are down, which shouldn't affect this, right? What do I do?

Could my UNI's network somehow effect on it?
