Hi there!

I'm opening this post to make a list of all known working webcams in OS X. I will start with a list provided by Ecamm network (thanks!). Please, add your model if you don't see in the list and explain which drivers are you using. This list is maintained and updated from forum users and their experiences.

Important notice: Never install more than ONE set of drivers for your webcam. Uninstall any previous drivers before trying a new ones (if you want to do so). A webcam only needs ONE kind of drivers. Installing more than one driver at the same time is NOT a good idea.

A webcam can only send video to ONE window. Close Skype Video Preferences before you start a video call, and also any other webcam application / utility / videochat program, or the webcam won't send video.

Here you have two links that may help mac users out in finding which cameras have UVC support. (Thanks for reporting)

ZicPlay TalkCam Messenger Pro
macam or IOXperts

I have this working on an iMac G4 without macam or IOXperts. I have also sold a couple of these and nobody has reported problems. In fact, I have just checked, and macam doesn't seem to recognise this camera.

I also use a Manhattan Fun!Cam which has Mac OS X drivers, but needs iChatUSBCam to work with Skype

The Macally IceCam also needs iChatUSBCam in order to work with Skype

The Macally IceCam also needs iChatUSBCam in order to work with Skype
I've just bought and installed the IceCam... All that was required was a restart of Skype to work - iChatUSBCam is NOT required... The video comes up in Skype no problem (Just make sure the WebCam Monitor is not running when you start Skype)...

Still trying to get the sound to work though... The guy at the store told me it had a built in mic, so I'm hoping to get the sound working properly! Any ideas?

EDIT: Reading the macally site, it says that it's just a webcam... No mic included... Bugger!

I would like to obtain a list of Locitech drivers AVAILABLE IN JAPAN which will work with OS10. Do you have such information, or do you know where I can find it?

I edited your post, please don't quote all the first post, this makes this thread difficult to read for others - Hope you understand my decision.

I beg you open a new topic for this question, or visit the Japan forums to ask some japanese users smile.png Please have a look here:

The link suggests drivers only good up to 10.2.6. I use iChatUSB, add-on for iChat AV works fine on Tiger / 10.4.8 :-)

I can't get my icecam to work with skype. I am using skype 2.0.0.6. If I do as you suggest and launch skype first, in the skype video prefs inhr camera selection box it says camera. If I then launch the web cam monitor, the camera does not work (no green light on camera).
If I launch the webcam monitor first, Skype says no video is available and I cannot select my web cam.

I would be grateful for any help!

Hmmm seems to be a problem with Icecam? :

"Icecam
I can't make a vidio call" asking for help.

"icecam by Macally" has answer that maybe the cam is faulty?

"how does macally icecam work in skype?" seems to get it working by reinstall Skype?

try reinstalling Skype?

First - thanks for the list of cameras all in one place. Big help!
Second - can anyone here advise which of these cameras they prefer? I am too nervous to go out and spend the money on an iSight, sicne it's now discontinued. I'm quite ignorant when it comes to this sort of thing, so your smarts and assistance are much appreciated.
I, myself, have been considering the iMage... yay or nay?
