Please, if you can, search the forum about this webcam smile.png

Many users have problems because Logitech does not support this webcam for our system at this moment, but a few users got it to work using Macam drivers, or a hacked version of Macam. "Hacked", I mean a modifyed version of Macam.

Ok, ok... Here's the post I was talking about: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?s=&sh...st&p=306610

Good luck smile.png

Once I got the Logitech software off and downloaded the new regular macam, it worked. They have changed it so that the Logitech Communicate STX works with the regular macam. Thank you for the help!!!! smile.png

Fantastic! I'm happy you got STX to work! Can you post Macam version? 0.8.8 or 0.8.9?

Many users have this cam and some of them can use it, others don't. Strange enough!

I am also having trouble with the STX:

I installed macam 0.8.8 first, but the camera didn't work. Then I downloaded macam 0.8.9 from the macam developer site, and now the camera works - but only with the macam software.

In Skype, I can only use the camera's microphone, but video does not work.

I made the same video settings in Skype that I am successfully using on my (windows) notebook: Skype video is activiated and i selected "camera" in the drop-down list below the video preview frame. See attachement. I am not using macam and Skype software at the same time.

Any ideas?

These are my software and camera versions:

Logitech Communicate STX
Skype 2.0.0.6 German
Mac OS X 10.4.8
macam 0.8.9

I just ordered this cam for a friend who is using a PowerBook 1.5GHz with 10.4.8. With macam 0.9.0 it does work in all apps, iChat, Yahoo, browser, etc?

Thank you!

It is supposed to work, but iChat was made only to work with firewire webcams. But, in spite of this Apple policy, you can try iChatUSBCam. This add-on will enable your iChat AV to work with any USB webcam.

Please take a look to their webpage to know more about it.

I have macam driver 0.9 installed.

When i open Skype, the STX works, cause i can see myself.
But if i connect with someone, my mouse cursor freezes and there's is nothing more i can do than force quit skype ;(

I have the cam connected in a usb socket on the back of my Apple lcd display.

Any thoughts ?

Try another USB port, you may need a powered port - make sure all video applications are closed.

I just got the Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX and I've downloaded the latest version of MacCam (0.9.1) and I'm running Mac OS X (10.4.10), and I've downloaded the Mac drivers for the camera, but it just won't work. It runs on MacCam, but I just can't get it to run on Skype.

Help? sadsmile.png

Hi, just install Macam or the webcam drivers, but do not install both at the same time.

Then, retry smile.png

I have an "old and slow" Powerbook G4 1,25 GHz with plenty of RAM (2GB), and I bought a Logitech QuickCam communicate STX, downloaded the latest macam 0.9.1, the webcam works with QuickTime, works with Skype, no freezing of audio nor video

BUT

I need to have the webcam connected to my USB port (bus power 500 mA) BEFORE I turn on my PowerBook, so no "hot" switching...
Shouldn't it work once installed independently on its status when the computer is switched off ... ?
At least my external USB hard drive does.

It is a bit of pain as this model ONLY has 1 USB port, and I need it for my printer and external hard drive, too.
Often I work from the ext hard drive, as I edit videos.

Will post the question to the manufacturer, but would be greatful for
any ideas ... ? nerd.png

Maybe consider buying a USB hub?

I'm afraid you need to plug in the webcam before you run Skype.
