Mic does not work in Skype 1.3.0.53 on Suse 10.1

I've just upgraded to the latest version of Skype (1.3.0.53) and my mic does not work any more. I can connect and I can hear people talking to me but they can't hear me. I tried the Skype Test Call and I can't record anything.
My mic is definitely working and was working with previous version of Skype. My hardware Toshiba Tecra M2 I think it has an Intel 82801DB-ICH4 sound chip. OS is Suse 10.1 I'd like to stress that apart from Skype the sound works perfectly. |

QUOTE(Mr Ter @ Wed Oct 11 2006, 11:32) I've just upgraded to the latest version of Skype (1.3.0.53) and my mic does not work any more. Check your audio program. I use KDE. The new installation of Skype did a microphone mute. Check also, that michrophone have +20 dB adjust so it is not too little volume. |

I have the same problem on SUSE 10.0, unable to get a sound input from my microphone. I hear people but they don't. I tried with a test call service but I can not hear back my own voice. Wondering what came wrong with the new Skype 1.3.0.53. I haven't had this problem with the previos version, 1.2.0.18. I haven't changed my sound settings either. When I gave up, I switched back to the 1.2.0.18 version and it works fine except the old known bugs of this version. I see at least some features on this new version, but I am not be able to use it. If any one has a clue on how could this problem be resolved, please lend a help. Thanks in advance!

For one or another reason it was known in the old version that when the Capture is selected, it cause some effect on the sound quality, and for that reason Capture on my kmix was deselected. Now in this new verion, if the Capture is deselected there will be no audio out from the mice. So those of you have the same problem just go to Kmix and activate the capture, that was all the solution. My Sound Chip is an Intel 82801BA-ICH2. Could someone explain me please what I have to adjust step by step as i am a linux noob. Thanks in advance |

Apart from the mic and capture device, I also have to turn on "Full Duplex" in the sound system section of KDE control center before my mic works. |

It is working now, thanks. Unfortunately, I can´t tell what made the difference, because after phoning for the hundred time to echo123 I didn´t phone him after each change I made anymore. Don´t know if it helps anybody, but I updated my ALSA and installed all packages containing the ALSA name through yast and made changes to the settings in the Switches tab of KMix to the additional changes described in this thread.
@markb: i do not have such a "Full Duplex" setting. But thanks for your help anyway. |

I tried everything mentioned in this forum but I was still not able to hear what I said to echo123... until I restarted skype. I am not sure what exactly was the problem (I'd say Capture) but restart was needed as well

Hello all,
I tried everything described in this thread, but nothing works. My mic still doesn't work. My config: AMD 64 3500+ Sound Card: Onboard Via 8237 chipset Suse 10.1 x86_64 Skype 1.3.0.53 Alsa packages: alsa-tools-gui-1.0.11-16 alsa-firmware-1.0.10-13 alsa-tools-1.0.11-16 kalsatools-1.5.0-365 alsamixergui-0.9.0rc1-558 alsa-devel-1.0.11-32 alsa-32bit-1.0.11-32 alsa-1.0.11-32 alsa-plugins-1.0.10-15 I alredy run the alsa mixer, and set the Capture On. I observed that when I start a call on skype it reduces the volume of capture to 33%. I can hear everybody, but they can't hear me. I tried the echo123 and I my voice isn't recording. The mic is ok, I have uses it with another system. |
