So we can make the Skype for Linux client better, what features (and in which order if you leave comments) do you want to see the most?

In descending order:
UI =» Video receiving =» SMS =» Video sending

Every hitchhiker needs a towel (!):
Skype Kundendienst (DE) // customer support (EN)
Those towels can often be replaced by a search...

The priority order should always be:

1. Functional parity across platforms
2. UI parity across platforms

My strong preference is Video over SMS, therefore:

1. Video
2. SMS
3. UI

For what it's worth - there will need to be some UI work done to properly support Video calls. Look at the difference between Skype for Mac 1.4 and Skype for Mac 1.5...

"New Cleaner, more streamlined Interface" above all for now.

And yes, please, include Bulgarian language in any future releases. smile.png

I don't need video. I'd rather the focus be on features like not having the quality of the connections deteriorate over time (so the Skype needs to be re-started). Or like being able to play music and still have incoming Skype calls heard. Or like being able to use peripheral equipment (USB phones or even the larger systems that permit you to use Skype on a regular phone).

On your list, I'd rank it:

1. Cleaner Interface
2. SMS
3. Video

I vote for video support in first main goal, after it would be nice to reduce the time it makes for skype to launch, on my computer it is about 30 seconds...

I do not use sms, and the user interface is good enough for me, although it seems not to be possible to manage groups or create in the linux interface... but i did not try a lot wink.png

Without a doubt, it's the video. Video makes so much difference when calling far-away people you would otherwise never see, only hear.

First video, or at least the ability to receive video from the win clients.

The different features that are intruduced or will be intruduced should be for all platforms.
Skype certification should only be approved if the product is compatible with all platforms.

First bugfixes, than features:
1. possibility to select ANY alsa sound device (not hardware only)
2. possibility to select other sound device for ringing
3. better DTMF support (Skype's often doesn work, but if I emit DTMF tones with thirdparty tool directly to sound card's line-in it works in 95%)
4. various user availability problems

Features:
1. Call forwarding
2. SMS
3. (heh) console version?

1. Fix all the bugs
2. Fix all remaining bugs smile.png
...

3. Video
3.5 SMS (it's almost as useful as video)
4. Call forwarding...
4) Other Features from the Win version (if you have nothing to do)

1,2: I tried on fedora and on debian, but there are still problems with the sound when I speak too much wink.png (what i say delays or never arrives).

For me it was very hard to setup skype with a 1024x768 screen resolution....

Perhaps if you have some bug-fix release (after releasing 1.3) you can include SMS if it's not big deal for programming. Video support will probably be harder and needs more work..

P.S:
You may also include the Bulgarian translation or a way to create .qm's (ts files or some tools?) smile.png

janslupski: Why don't you try using dbus?
