I'm writing a post to remember our long term and active member of the Skype community, Rocketman - his friends and family also used to call him Ian Gordon Voller.

He has just passed away after a hard fight with cancer.

I'm remembering him as one of the most active members of Skype community of all time.

He joined our community back in 2005, in the early days of the Skype history when it was just 2 years old.

He managed to see and live through Skype's growth from a small company with only a few employees to a bigger buildup with both user numbers and community members amount growing exceptionally.

His last post in our forums was written on 26th August. He posted in total 15 840 posts in the forum.

I, all moderators and everyone in the team working with forum, remember him as a great person who managed to give his guidance and help to many people and to raise important topics in the forums. He has helped us to keep a clear focus on our users at all times.

I would like to wish Gordon a peaceful rest and to offer my sincerest condolence to his family and friends.

I have a huge amount of respect for Gordon. He helped so many people. There is only one Rocketman. Rest in peace my friend.

Even though I do not know Gordon as being a rather new Skyper myself. I can feel a grief across this forum through others who know Gordon or might have been helped by him.

Thanks for posting/informing that. I am so sad. Gordon was both a fellow Super User (same time as me) and good suporter to me.
I WILL surely miss him.

I am very sad to learn it and I know Ike will be too.

Its been a sad day for me, I learn of 2 deaths of old colleagues to-day.

Gordon aka Rocketman also lived in Spain. May G-D look after his soul and his family.

I too will miss his guidance on these forums. Skype lost a good friend and I will miss him

It is indeed a big loss on this forum, but much more for his family. It was a very nice man! I would have liked to meet him in a Tapas Bar instead of knowing him through this virtual Skype World!

I am very sad to hear this news, although Global in nature, the Skype community is quite small. I know Rocketman would agree that our common interest in Skype and how it brings people together is a great legacy and one that he helped to build, and many many people are very thankful for all his hard work, help and dedication.

My condolences. Although I never replied to Rocketman, I always respect him. R.I.P., fellow, you will be missed.

I would like to express my condolences. Sure it is a big lost for all the Community but more for his family and friends. He helped a lot of people here in the forums; for sure he was a great person and a great friend for all people that knew him. May he rest in peace in this, his last spacewalk.

I will miss Gordon very very much, and I am sure many of the people he has helped over the years, on Skype will miss him as well.

A great forum member, an excellent friend. i only knew Gordon via the forums and skype, but regardless, he made the experience one no different to any other form of friendship.
