I reinstalled Windows XP and Morrowind. I didn't have Skype. I tested on iceman in the game. I can fight him without a problem. When I have Skype, I start to play the game. I noticed that my movement moves crazy like skippy a little bit. I figured it out that it's how the game stopped before. I looked around in processes. I noticed that firefox.exe reached 400 mb while I opened 7 different websites in Mozilla Firefox. I had to close them until I have 3 websites. It decreased to 145 mb. Few seconds later I saw SkypeNames.exe. It kept popping up in Processes. I was reading this thread. It matched to SkypeNames.exe. I uninstalled Skype Web Feature. Firefox.exe started to decrease from 145 to 66 mb. I closed a website. 2 websites keep going on. It decreased to 59 mb. I often visit maps and quests in a website for Morrowind while I play Morrowind. That's how the game was stopped before. I had many pages in Mozila Firefox before. It may have reached more than 400 mb. That's why I was not able to do with ALT + Tab. I was stuck in the game while it's stopped. I had to force my computer shut down.

QUOTE (Peter Kalmström @ Wed Jul 8 2009, 16:21) Go to the original post Hi Thiago, Which of the two problems described did you experience? Did you get an authorization request or a notification about the API not being able to communicate with SkypeNames? |

Is there a way to keep the authorization request from being displayed every time I log on to Skype? I don't plan on removing my Skype Firefox add-on cause I just love it
Cheers! |

I've faced the "SkypeNames wants to use Skype" issue.
My version is 4.1.0.166 on Windows XP. The reason for the popup is unknown . There was no Skype/ Internet browsing / activities at time. I've read the thread and discovered it may explain why my browser is crashed. I did not connect the freequent crashes with the presence of the "Skype" features. Thank you everybody to the clue. |

Dear Peter
I see that the matter has long history though slightly difficult to read. Is it possible that you publish an easy guide to correct this? (Information for users slightly expert in IT)... Please. Thank you very much... |

It just happened to me too. I upgraded to Windows 7 and installed the most updated version of skype a week ago. Skypenames.exe authorization request was not popping up until this morning. Here is a question: how important this file is?.
I just simply removed it from skype's shared folder and relaunched the skype again, it seems it is working fine without any further authorization requests. Would it solve the problem? |

Would it solve the problem? if you don't need/want the Skype toolbar in your browser, all you have to do is to re-run the Skype installer (no need to uninstall anything), click the Options button that appears on the very first screen, and to remove the 'tick' from the options you don't want to be installed then complete the install as normal and the options that you have unticked will be uninstalled if they were previously installed -------------------- Regards,

Hi
I'm Matt. Today I got this same issue like jaredj. Suddenly appear info about "Skypenames.exe" with question to accept or not. I just close it b/c I didn't know what's that. I didn't install anything else from Skype. It was very suspicious. Matt |

I wish I can select, which add-on will be installed. I prefer to install only Skype. Its add-ons could be installed by hand as a choice, not silently during install process.

I think people are keeping asking essentially TWO things:
Strange. Can one who-knows-the-matter answer the simple questions asked? Hmm http://www.screencast.com/users/Skype-Toolbars "Uninstalling the Skype add-on .... " http://www.screencast.com/users/Skype-Tool...83-0fe2ba737f69 This post has been edited by Enif: Mon Nov 9 2009, 01:37 |

Hi
I just wanted to share my problems. Running windows xp, skype 4.1.0.179 and Firefox 3.5.5 Got a new laptop and installed skype and firefox as the first things. I have experienced that my firefox was crashing from time to time (so often i was even thinking of using i.explorer)and was very confused about this. Today I got the question if i wanted to allow skypenames.exe to access my skype for the first time. Googled it and ended up here. I think that the message might have come up for the first time since i was not yet online when i started skype. Or it might be becuase i´m accessing the internet thru "Mobile connect" today. I have now uninstalled the skype web features and hope that my problems will stop. If you want any more information please contact me thru skype elias.valbo. Best regards Elias |
