Hello every mac-lover!

Lets hear it from the OSX users! Come on guys, give the Skype Staff reasons for why we need a OSX skype!

I, for one, would simply LOVE to see a carbon version of Skype for mac - and of course with the beautiful metal-look we love so much. Nice sliders and iChat-ish buttons is VERY welcome here.

Speak your mind!

Later,
TorbX

Really looking forward to Skype for OSX...couldn't you presell it to Apple packaged with the next OSX release? (10.3.3 just came out, so you have some time before the next one...)

Please!

Of course there is a lot of Mac people, enough to make it count. And as more people switch to Mac, more programs will come out for it. Mac people are hard spenders too, so even if it has a small user base, it's a good market for any company.

The only thing for Skype to do for the Mac, is release this before ichat full compatibility is released for the pc world, because then, it will be too late.

Skype for Mac would be excellent. I look forward to seeing it popping up on your homepage one day, hopefully not too far away. Until then, I won't go anywhere near a PC. They are just too lame.

What is the possibility of incorporating this into iChat? Tie it together and make it work with the rest of the apple world!

Also write to Apple and suggest this so that they can work together with Skype to make this happen!

Aren't there any people out there that can be programmers for this project, those who know Linux, Unix or Mac Programming. Could skype make this open source or ask for help from others?

UniMatrix, stop crossposting your message. If you feel that you have certain skills that will help Skyper develop their Mac version of Skype faster, then please use a different avenue to contact Skyper. The forum is a place where messages are meant for everyone to read, yours is only intended for Skyper.

There are a number of Skyper staff accounts that you could track down, not going to mention them here, or jobs@skype.net, if you prefer email that are better channels to send your message across.

In response to all the requests: there WILL be a Skype version for Mac OS X. No info is publicly available about when exactly it will be out, but it's already in the works.

Half of my friends are all recent Mac OSX converts (one person bought one, then before long everyone else started to get keen) Not having to worry as much about viruses was a big help.

Anyway, I would LURVE a Mac OSX version of this software

Edit 2004-05-25: First beta team is now closed, thanks for all the applications. I will post notification on this forum when we are going to take in second wave. /

Initial version will be for OSX, 10.2 and above.

For willing betatesters - please pm (personal message) me in this forum, describing your system setup (OSX version, hardware, network configuration, have you used skype before, expected skype usage pattern) and usage pattern. I'm especially interested to get mobile users who go online on multiple networks in a day and users who will use skype on multiple boxes into beta program. Thanks!

Maybe a little off-topic, but how will this program look like? Apperance is important to us Mac-fans. Brushed metal would be nice.

I think it's enough when I say that we have two very talented designers working on this who both use and love Macs. So you better believe it'll look just as cool as any native Apple app in OSX. smile.png

Cool. Glad to hear that. After all, Mac users tend to be GUI fanatics. And while there is quite a strong movement against Brushed Metal, I'm a big fan of it .

Full Steam Ahead for the Beta (please).
