I have to delete chat history for single contact manually many times. Now I have created small utility that might be helpful for someone else too.

short instructions:
1. Close skype
2. Create backup if something goes wrong for folder \Documents and Settings\{win username}\Application Data\Skype\{skype username}
3. Run application
4. Input skype username and contact username and click remove button.
5. Run Skype again

I did created this in two hours so it is not tested in any way and comes "as is" without any warranty. For me works with Skype 3.8 and maybe also works with previous versions. Program delete everything from chat and history etc. for one contact only.

Ohh… I see now there is interest for this utility. Ok, I have added installer for simple install/uninstall. Utility supports Skype 3.x and 4.x:

Utility now also trys to delete conversations, chats, voicemails, info about send/receive files, etc - all traces for specific contact name from skype 4.x database.
I do not have x64 system for test ... Anyway, here is x64 version http://primoz.init.si/other/setup64.msi . Let me know if works, please. If you have problems with 64 version please check this post.

- bugfix(skype 4): delete all calls with contact
- feature(skype 4): delete phone calls too (as contact)

I forgot to mention that program can be used with command line parameters so you can delete chat history for specific person on each login or logout for example. Syntax: skypechatremove.exe /r /u:yourUserName /c:specificContactName

Sorry, this utility is not tested. I did create it for my own purposes and works fine for me on win xp and windows server 2003. I'm not sure for other systems. Utility require .net ver 2.0. Skype should be closed (quit - not just minimized) when utility is running otherwise throws error. You should use exact username for current skype user and contact (not display names). Directory path for your skype username should already exists on your computer where "skype name" is your skype username like in pathe here: \Documents and Settings\{win username}\Application Data\Skype\{skype username}. Please download latest exe file from server there was some small changes in the beginning of the August.

where to find my chat history ? when i worked with skype 3.6, there was a folder named IMhistory, which i could find all the history .xml files. but skype3.8 is something different, i could not find any files about my chat history....
can u help?

I am using ver. 3.8, I ran the software but the chat history is still available for that specific contact. Any further suggestions?

Actually I think Skype folks have tried to implement the possibility to delete the history entries from one user only:
- go to History tab
- start typing that user name
- select all and delete

All entries will not be available anymore in history tab, but unfortunately they will not be deleted either from your computer. If you go to menu Chats\Recent Chats you will still see recent entries for that contact and if you select one even the message will be displayed.

Fortunately, your tool worked just fine for Skype 3.8. Thank you for that. If you would like to share the code I could try to improve it and maybe even make it more user friendly. However, I have to see if I can access and edit Skype files without corrupting them.

But Skype Team - why don't you make the steps I listed above to work as they should? I bet that it won't require more than 1 h development time for a developer that knows what he/she is doing. How about that?

Actually all you are doing is deleting event history.

From my knowledge it is now not possible to delete individual chat history. Its (delete) all or nothing

I'm using Skype 4.0.0.206 and after starting SKYPECHATREMOVE.exe, last version for Skype 4.x with correct user names, I'got message "Skype 3.x error message. Non-negative number required. Parameter name: value". Any idea how to resolve ?

It seems that program cannot check data for skype 3.x but only for 4.x (probably you do not have installed Skype v 3.x) . This is just note. Program should remove chat, history etc for specific contact for 4.0 anyway.
