RECENT Update seems to have resolved the crash issue on start up - still NOT able to make or receive calls using skype out. ONLY CHAT tried to use test call feature and my office phone, no luck. HTC Mogul WM 6.1 Sprint Service

Is it applicable to Windows Mobile 6 ? What the advantages can we have using this version instead of 37?
Thanks.

Are you sure about 2.2.0.45?! Look at the file for download - it is 2.2.0.44! Where is the mistake?

Why you confuse us? Did you try to install it yourself? I did. Actually it 2.2.0.38 version, you can find it in "About Skype".

Does this version support public chats at last?

I have 2.2.0.45 in About Skype, not sure why you have 2.2.0.38.

Just download from www.skype.com->Windows Mobile and install it. I checked out .exe and .cab packages. Also you can find 2.2.0.38 in skype.exe file version property.

Peter, Why you do not respond to the fact that in the section for downloading file for Windows Mobile for Pocket PC instead of 2.2.0.45 placed file 2.2.0.44? For smartphone is the same version!

I just downloaded it, and installed on my HTC 6800. While it 'appears' to be working, I can't hear anyone and the other end can't hear me.

I installed the CAB file. Account has already been active a couple years and working fine on my Nokia N800.

However no sound on calls.

As I just got my brand new phone today, I am wondering why it won't run Skype.

Someone please let me know - is it buggy software or is it something else?

Thank you very much for this WM6.1 version. It works well on my HTC Advantage 7510.

During this interrim period when Skype Mobile didn't run on WM6.1 devices, I tried many of the alternatives that were mentioned in this and other sites. But none of them worked satisfactorily and as easily as Skype.

I switched from the Palm OS several years ago to Windows Mobile specifically to use Skype, so I am very appreciative of your efforts to bring WM6.1 compatibility to Skype.

Thanks again!

Anyone else have an HTC 6800 or other WM6.1 device that appears to work properly EXCEPT no voice? i.e. you can successfully make a call, but you can't hear the other end and they cannot hear you.

Is there a solution in the works?

Same thing for me on my HTC TyTn II.
Also, I have tried this:
1) I have downloaded SkypeForPocketPC.CAB from http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-pocketpc-cab (Version: 2.2.0.45 Release date: July 31, 2008)
2) I have extract all files from the downloaded CAB
3) I have checked file version of 000Skype.001
4) Version is: 2.2.0.38

Hi

I am new to this forum and I have literally just downloaded the program to install Skype on WM6 (HTC Touch Diamond)"Skype 2.2 for Windows Mobile Premium (Pocket PC)" in .exe and the message I get after I download it is:

'Skype fo for Pocket PC' is not a valid Pocket PC application

I have read all the forums and I am frankly amazed that this is causing such issues and needless to say I am confused (what is a .cab file anyway)

Some help from Skype please

Thanks

When I download the 2.2.0.45 version and install it I get version 2.2.0.38. When I install the app the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Skype for Pocket PC" the cab file has a date of 11/21/2007.

When I explode the cab file notice the dates on the files 11/21/2007 and then then 7/24/2006.

I think that the file that is being pointed to by the link is incorrect.

Please see the attached jpg images of the directories in question.

Hi Péter,

I have downloaded this version on the 1st Aug, to my HTC Diamond running WM6.1.

It runs fine using WiFi, but Skype cannot connect to the network using my 3G connection.
Do you, or anybody, have tested it on a HTC Diamond?
Are there any settings to modify to use standard 3G networks?
I have an unlimited data plan and I wish to use it instead of WiFi, since WiFi still consumes a lot of battery and does not offer the same coverage as the 3G network.

In addition, does anybody know if Skype has any plans to support the video features in the new devices?

It seems Skype will soon loose this battle, since I can seamlessly make video calls using my HTC to other 3G enabled devices with video calling features, so I only need to be able to Skype video-call to other Skype users.

Amazingly, in Europe you can use video-calling for a fixed price now, but I whant this facility to video-call the rest of my fmily spread over Canada, US and Brazil.

Skype guys, Wake-Up!!!

Cheers,

I installed the v2.2.0.45 update on my HTC Advantage. It shows the same screen (with v2.2.0.38) as you have, but the update works on my Advantage. Before I installed the update, Skype would hang during startup. Now it works well. If you haven't tried the upgrade yet because of the version number, I would suggest trying it.

There is an option in Menu | Settings | (scroll down to) Connections | Connection Method. You can select "Use WiFi and 3G" or "Use WiFi only".
