_______________________________________________________________________________

Above message arrived this morning on my machine.

It would be great if there was a feature available to report this obvious attempt to get you to go somewhere online, where things will turn out bad for you.
I do not know where the above mentioned link will bring you, but I really do not want to find out.

Does anybody know where to send these messages to so the according skype users can be excluded?

Regards,

Michael

I would agree, quit phishy...

I would certainly not down load any patch. And look at the address... not from Microsoft or Skype.

Hope this helps,
Julean

Moderators/Skype staff will NEVER
ask you for your password nor your full credit card number. The only places you are asked for your password are when you sign into Skype or on the website if you want to make a purchase or check your account.
If we ask for credit card details only the first 4 and last 4 digits are required.

I just got this as well, and it may be well known to you, but I have never gotten anything like this on Skype before. How is my skype address available to this spammer?

Symphotic,
Whenever you are online, in the Skype cloud, anyone can find you by doing a Skype search which can be filtered by age, gender, location etc. These Spammers/Scammers/Phishers use this to establish a target list to hit on.

If you receive one of these messages, please do the following:
1. Do not click on any links!
2. Report the sender to Skype at abuse@skype.net, or via the help pages at skype.com. Skype DO block these cretins, but only start to react when they receive a complaint via the official medium. They are not obliged to visit the forums to find out what is going on. When you report the user, you should also include evidence of misuse, a copy of the offending chat message should suffice.
3. Block the sender. But, if you want to be less hassled, try a Skype search for key elements. i.e. Update Monitor ® or whatever pseudonym they are using and block everything you find.
4. Unfortunately, you may have to repeat the above process more than once, as they change identities.

Whatever you do, DO NOT just ignore it, it's spam. It will not go away unless you deal with it!

Jim
