No incoming sound on Iphone

Hi I am a new member. I have downloaded skype onto my Iphone 3g with 3.0os. I also use the same skype account as my laptop which works fine.
When I try and make calls from the Iphone all I hear is robotic noises on both Skype to skype or Skype to landlines. I am told that the people on the other end can hear me. I have an excellent wifi signal. The test call has the robotic sound for a couple of seconds and then I hear the mesage and my recording works fine but this is not the same for other calls.
Can anyone help please?
I live in Spain but I dont think this will cause any problem.
Thanks

I'm having the same problem with no sound thru the earpiece on the iphone 3GS
the speaker does work. the earpiece works for regular phone calls

This initially did work , and stopped when I was using it and switching applications and calling via skype etc...

I suspect that a skype application setting is stuck in a mode that thinks the earphone plug is being used (it works when I use an earphone)

I tried deleting the app, I will try deleting and re-syncing, and if that doesn't work - a full software refresh of the phone. it kind of sucks because it's probably very simple to fix if you could edit the skype preference settings stored on the phone

Same problem here.
Factory unlocked iPhone 3GS / 3.1
no sound from earpiece - headphones work.
Speakerphone can only be activated after connection established.
Bluetooth does not work either with Skype.
Guess - you always get with Skype, what you don't pay for.
Frustrating!

Same problem--no sound on either end except using speakerphone, which takes so long to enable the other party has usually hung up. On 3 different encounters with skype support, all they can suggest is to uninstall and reinstall the app--no better result. I am running the latest iPhone and skype software. Skype seems oblivious to the issue.

Hi Paul - could you please tell me the exact iPhone variant (1st Gen, 3G, 3GS?), OS version and Skype version, and that your device is not hacked / jailbroken?

iPhone 3g running 3.1.2 software. Skype version 1.2.2. I first downloaded skype app before Apple and Skype made the 3.1.2 and. 1.2.2 versions available, and this has been a problem from day one that neither software updates nor uninstalling, reinstalling and resetting my phone have helped.

On non-skype mobile calls my phone works perfectly. Yes, I have tried the skype test call numerous times which was how I figured out that switching to speakerphone allowed me to hear and talk. Unfortunately the test call is probably the only recipient that stays on the call long enough for the speakerphone to kick in. It's clear from this forum topic I amnot the only one with the problem.

Paul

I had the same problem..Only the speaker on the iphone worked. I contacted the apple help desk. They instructed me to reboot the Iphone. The reboot fixed the problem. Contact the apple help desk. They fixed the problem for me.

Thanks, Gordon. I'll try it again, but I've actually rebooted my phone 2 or 3 times. Calling Apple support is a good idea. Skype support hasn't been much help.

I have the same problem.

Were you able to solve the problem? Can you put a post so all of us can benefit? This problem seems to be happening with a lot of people.

I've tried uninstalling and installing, rebooting, etc...

Please, let us know how to solve this annoying issue. I wish someone on the Skype team would help on this.

I'd love to post the solution, but all skype does is give the same response each time: uninstall, reinstall, reset the phone. No help whatever.

I fixed this! Was having this issue for months:

1. Uninstall Skype app
2. Do full reboot of iPhone (not just a respring)
3. Reinstall Skype app

u must do it in that order smile.png

cheers!
