I'm hoping that Skype will allow people with subscriptions to make calls too, not just with Skype Credit.

The app seems to work well enough functionality wise, but having access to voicemail would be appreciated.

...The only slightly annoying feature is the start-up sound would it be possible to have an option to turn sounds on and off in the settings?

oh yes, that would be great

i think most of the stuff not availiable is not due to technical issues, but because of licensing and most of all carrier-interests. isn´t it, skype? lipssealed.png
who would do expensive gsm-calls if he/she could use cheap skype in the same way as you can do on your desktop...
voip ftw!

Skype app on the computer has the feature for a default country code, the iphone app needs this feature asap. I have way to many contacts to add +1 to all of them.

If the Skype staff see this, and decide to put a landscape option into Skype, please please PLEASE give us an option to turn it off.

Not everyone finds the landscape useful, I don't use it for e.g. and I find it exceptionally irritating when you're lying down sideways on the bed trying to read a chat and the phone goes into landscape, so you turn it, then it goes back into portrait, and you turn it, and back into landscape, etc.

I heared that firmware 3.0 will allow 3G phone calls, I hope so... Anyway, there are several bugs in the application, so you should fix them first and then add new stuff, one of the mainly bugs is that Skype for iPhone wont recognize we have a suscription and it will ask for credit to make a call (Not all suscription but some of them).

I like: fast login a lot. Its lot faster than with Fring, Nimbuzz etc.

I am missing: Smiles, 3G calls and Skype running background.

Also it would be nice take pics when you are at chat and send them to other Skype user you chat with smile.png

I agree with a lot of people here: the default country code issue needs to be addressed immediately.

Working out the legal issues with Canada would be nice too.

It is... but you need to create an US account in iTunes tongueout.png

I did and Skype works perfectly for me in Québec City!

Well it is working with the iPhone OS 3.0 BETA... Hope it won't be eliminated in the official version!

OK, here something that or "i don't know how to do" or "has been forgotten by Skype":

When i have a new contact request like this number 1000 request from Ghana (i get several a week angry.png ) you only can "accept" or "Block This Contact". No way to ignore, therefore there is always an open request!

Please insert an "IGNORE" button!

[ADDED] Believe it or not, but less than a minute after posting i got another contact request from a woman from Ghana headbang.png

I am not Canadian nor living there but I can understand the disappointment of those living there so I would also say this should be the priority 1 to make it available in Canada. wink.png

Next I would be personally waiting for SMS support.

+1 as well for the ignore button for new contact request. I did not face that yet but I do not want that to happen to me.

Overall great job. Feature requests:
* support the same links as PC for iPhone safari for Skype Me, etc.
* support sending files
* video (which I understand Skype has promised pending quality support for it in the iPhone)
* last but not least: a hold/restore feature for allowing a call to survive closing the app to check an email or check a web link...allow the app to open again and pick up the call.

Not very good so far for people who live in Skype blocked countries.

Really need Skype to work with the built in iPhone PPTP VPN to be able to use it.

Hope this is a priority for the developers...

Likes:

  • Good audio
  • Quick login
  • Nice chat view

Dislikes:

  • Receiving a cellular call while on a skype call kills skype.
Ideally it should put the call on hold and you should be able to drop back into the skype call after the cellular call.
  • No bluetooth headset support
  • No support for running in background (I tried backgrounder it didnt work for me)

Wish List:

  • Support for video calls (even just receive would be ok)

Great app so far - agree that it needs to be able to run in the background with 3.0

What we need is a simple sound notification for the chat part of iSkype! should be very easy to roll out for the next release..

thanxs!

I like that it sounds just like using Skype on my computer. The other apps I tried sounded like a tin can.

I would like to be able to import my contacts like on my computer automatically when signed in. The add contact does not work well, as the others mentioned due to the country code being written over. Also, I'd like to see the voicemail come on when the phone goes unanswered or declined instead of just ringing. I see that it does when on a call, which I'm happy about.

Like:
-I like the clear sound and small latency when calling someone, much better than fring..
-Picture in the conversation is a nice idea, maybe if i write 3 sentences 1 picture is enough instead of 3 times my picture.
-That it works! And also other things I didn't mention..

Must haves (maybe easy to implement):
-Chat:Alert for new instant messages (sound and vibrate)!
-Chat:smilies
-Chat:delete conversation by simply swiping the finger from left to right (like in mail)
-BuddyList:renamed skype name in buddy list
-BuddyList:sort buddylist for not available

Would be nice:
-push notification
-video call
-possibility to make a picture, which will be send then automatically, also while calling someone

Nice features:
-Tag your current position with GPS (maybe as mood message) or online as option to insert in the conversationa a link to google maps
-notification if someone comes online..
