Fraudulent use of my credit card

I am going nuts with skype support.

I keep reporting that someone has used my credit card fraudulently and i supply ALL The details that are requested.

Every time I hit reply - I never hear from the support person again.

So I tried sending all the details in the request to begin with - it must be an automated form that responds to these things because all I get is a response asking for the VERY SAME details I have just sent in as part of reporting the fraud.

For gods sake, what does someone have to do to get decent support on skype?

I am using 4.1.0.179, the latest version with Vista. I cannot get skype to dial out. I run Norton 360 and thought it was a firewall issue and disabled the firewall. Try to change firewall setting and no luck.

When I try to make a call I immediately get "no answer", without skype making any effort to actually try to dial out.

I am showing that I am online on my computer. On my wife's computer it shows I am online, but when she dials out it shows I do not answer, but it works correctly.

I'd like to say I dig skype, now even more since there is lately a massive decrease in spam related communications, however one thing I see which I believe is a problem as per policy, and that is the fact that if a contact can block and report a person (contact) so many times that they are locked out for good basically, with no recourse unless they are paid subscribers seems a bit silly if they are still in the other persons' contact list or is this totally by design.

Thank you

Revolutionary Suggestion

Here is my awesome suggestion--I'm sure you're gonna like it. How about instead of ignoring people who need help and making it impossible for them to contact the company, you actually answer their posts and make it easy to get support. That way more people will use your service.

My account is simply missing and I would love to have someone help me, except that I've spent a week trying to "submit a ticket" and my posts in the correct forums have all gone unanswered.

So thanks, Skype. What stunning customer service. If anybody has any other suggestions along these lines or if you may be able to point me in the right direction, feel free to add. We should start a thread just about Skype support horror stories.

J

Forced to use new version?

I REALLY don't like this 'new, improved' version of Skype - 4.1.0.179
Why was my old version replaced by Skype AUTOMATICALLY and WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION? The new version really sux, in many ways. WHY are we not allowed to keep the 3.8 version that was FAR more user-friendly? Does Skype want to LOSE customers? Is that the plan? The new version has made is very difficult to place a simple call, to check voicemail, to DELETE voicemail individually, and on and on! I tried to return to the older version and my decision is overridden in the download.

WHAT GIVES, SKYPE?
The "call quality" survey is annoying (popup... ugghh).

I understand collecting quality feedback is essential to improving your product.

Instead of having an annoying popup after random calls, build the survey into the interface of the Skpye GUI. Just like how other applications, such as I-tunes, WinAmp, Media Player etc.. have rating functions (1 to 4 stars) to determine how much you like the song, this is something which can be easily placed in the GUI to help end users give quality feedback.

I would love to see this change in the next build of Skpye.

Skype for SIP Beta Program

I would like to know what is required for acceptance into the Skype for SIP beta program? I've already submitted an application twice. I realize I'm probably not the only one applying for the program. Our organization is running a cluster of 8 Mitel 3300 PBXs and recently purchased some SIP trunk licensing to evaluate SIP trunking. We would really like to evaluate this using the Skype for SIP beta program, so if somebody could contact us, that would be great.

Thanks.

Anyone can create Skype accounts with my email address

I realized that someone is creating Skype accounts using my email address.
I went to password recovery to change the password on these accounts and I see there are 9 of them that they created.
Why is it that Skype does not check to see if the email address is legit or not?
I do understand that this user can not do any harm to my account but I still see it as a invasion of my privacy when Skyp allows someone to use my email address to create an account.
Anyone knows if this can be prevented?
Is it possible to delete user names?

Regards.

NR

Skype: Beware of Skype Customer support

My Skype account was recently hacked and someone made unauthorised calls to Brazil on my account over a three week period.
Skype automatically recharged my account and after I contacted them they offered to refund what had been stolen. However, they quickly changed their mind.

I work as a technology journalist with a background in IT and am very familiar with how to secure my PC and to be told it's my fault is patronising. Frankly I am really disappointed with the customer service deparment of what otherwise is an excellent service (apart from a few obvious security issues).

I've pasted a copy of my correspondence for everyone to read. Please take note of what they say two thirds of the way down where they offer to refund me only to change their minds two emails later. I look forward to feedback from other Skype users who've had similar negative experiences:

I've bolded the important bits.

Hello Bryan,

Thank you for your reply.

We understand your concern regarding these calls.

Thank you for the information, but according to our investigation it
wasn't our fault, because no one hacked our system, therefore we are
sure that someone gained acces to your account via your computer.

Skype can not refund the money you have lost due to this incident. Every
user has to take care of his/her security systems on private computers.

Please check if your PC’s security systems are running properly and if
they are up to date. In order to prohibit those incidents Skype strongly
advises to regularly update your PC's security software (e.g. firewall,
antivirus etc.). It is possible that a trojan or some kind of hidden
information collector is installed on your computer and sends this to a
third party who uses this information abusively.

It would be really useful to be able to set notifications to apply to a single contact rather than all contacts. What I have in mind is the following:
I have dozens of contacts on Skype and this means it is annoying to receive a 'notification' about every single instance that a 'contact becomes available'
However I often would like to receive a notification for when a specific individual becomes available. It would be very useful to be able to initiate this by right-clicking on a contact.

Cheers,
gb

Why is Skype contacting the DoD Network Information Center?

I have noticed that while Skype is running every 50 minutes it makes 3 attempts to contact the IP address of 140.18.221.43 on UDP port 65535 from udp port 3583. I use peerblock to help protect my computer and have seen this traffic in the logs. I was able to trace it to Skype by doing a "netstat -abo" and saw that Skype was listening on UDP port 3583 so I shut it down and the communication to the DoD stopped. I have not turned on a packet analyzer to see what's in the payload yet but I was wondering if someone else has seen this before?

a couple of weeks ago skype recommended I upgrade to new version. I absolutely hate it as it is very hard to see and use. I want to go back to the previous version. How can I do this? I have tried typing this question but just get formulaic answers to questions I don't have. this too is very frustrating that there is no place to ask a question and just get an answer.
So how can i get back the previous skype version?
