Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 Video Freeze after many attempts

I have a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 and it freezes after 10 seconds. I have tried over 100 combinations of fixes posted here including:

1. Logitech QuickCam software with and without Vid and new/old versions
2. All of Bill Campbell's fixes - skype 4.0.0.226, DirectX
3. Windows generic USB Webcam driver
4. Non-usb microphone
5. Disable all automatic Webcam 9000 features
6. Different light settings
7. Older legacy 9000 fixes such as USB 1.0, 3rd party video software, etc..

Skype seems to still have their head in the sand. All of the Skype support people seem to respond as Wuh? Huh? Problem??

I plugged in a cheap chinese webcam and it worked immediately (with get-what-you-pay-for quality)

I really want to use the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000.

I am running on a Dell Optiplex 320 with Windows XP professional

PIP frame rate problem

I recently upgraded from... some very old Skype version to the latest. When I did I noticed the PIP showing what my webcam was seeing suddenly had a very low frame rate. I wondered if that meant that my cam had been putting out a low frame rate all along.

So I started testing and called my netbook. Turns out that the picture on my netbook was just peachy but the preview on my PC was slow. I then used Splitcam as a go between and that solved the issue.

I should probably invest in a proper webcam sometime anyway but it'll be a while. In case anyone has suggestions on how to either fix this (I find it rather irritating), or failing that a recommended cam for someone on a budget, that would be great.

So frustrating! I have posted here before and have tried all suggestions but nothing seems to work. My bf and I have always video chatted with no problem. All of a sudden it stopped working- when the call goes through we can speak to each other just fine, but as soon as he opens up his video everything freezes and the call ends. If I turn on my video he can see me; it is when he turns his on that everything is lost. Both our internet connections are up to speed, he even upgraded his thinking that it was the problem but it still doesn't work. We also installed the earlier version of skype that we were suggested to install.

Now what I am thinking is that it could be the fact that I am on a mac and he is on a PC. It just doesn't explain why it worked perfectly before and all of a sudden it just stopped. He has a new windows vista, could it possibly be a firewall that we don't know about?

ANY suggestions are welcome. Thanks for your help!!

I'm seeing some pages on the Skype website that refer to the ability to do video conferencing (http://www.skype.com/allfeatures/videocall/ See "Improve the Bottom Line at Work")

And then there are knowledgebase pages like: http://tinyurl.com/ygf5t8a That clearly say you can't conduct video conferences with Skype.

Which is it?

Thanks!

Computer crashes when using webcam

I have just downloaded the latest Skype update and, possibly as a result, my computer crashes when I attempt to use the video link. It was working fine before this point (I regularly Skype my son in Australia). I've tried reloading Skype, my webcam Microsoft LifeCam 1.3 - VX3000 and even Internet Explorer! Skype works in voice mode and message mode but as soon as you enter Tools-Options-General-Video Settings (or just clicking the Video Call button), the computer crashes. It then restarts ok. The webcam works fine without going through Skype. Any ideas out there?
Eckiemo

Problem Finally Solved but Now Video slows after 30 mins

Hello everyone, I had a long time problem with a family members computer. I could send 30FPS to her but I was only getting 7FPS from her. We both have 9000 cams, I have a core 2 Duo and she is running an older P4. Shutting down her security Suite (Zone Alarm) didnt help) but once I fully uninstalled that program she now gives me 15FPS and I give her 30FPS. PERFECT.
But now, after about 30 minutes her computer slows down again to 8 or so FPS. I am thrilled that we can get in a perfect 30 min conversation as I have had the problem for a year now but wonder what could be going on with her computer that slows it down after 30-45 minutes. Any ideas. Thanks everyone!
(P.S.-We both have the newest Skype software, cam drivers, plenty of light, great bandwith, etc. All the usual suspects seem to be A OK)

Shadow Blue Ghost during Video Calls

Hey all, I just upgraded to the newest version of Skype 4.1.0.179 and I am having a video problem. The connection and quality is fine, except that I get a blue translucent "ghost" if you will of the image to both the right and left of the center. So if someone is talking with me, I see a shadowy ghost of them to the left and right, which often flickers slightly. I didn't have this problem with the previous version. This is an older Sony Laptop with an Intel chipset for video, so no updates for the video card drivers are available. Any ideas?

Incomming video has dual image

Skype was working fine. The screen resolution on my monitor was set too low (800x600) and when I tried to change the resolution from the the Windows Display Properties Dialogue box it wouldn't let me. I figured out that it was using the default Windows XP graphics driver so I installed the graphics driver that came with the mother board. Now I can change the monitor to higher resolution (1024x768) and it looks great. But now, when I use Skype, the incoming video shows the same image twice. One on the left and one on the right. Both images are somewhat distorted (taller and thinner than normal). The person on the other end sees a good image of me. I have tried reloading Skype but that didn't fix the problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Denise

Why Is The Freezing Issue Not Being Fixed On The New Version?!

I am truly at a loss here as to why a constant, continuous, and important issue like this cannot, and has not, been not only adequately addressed, but FIXED. The newest version of Skype is causing the video to freeze every half minute or so. This has been going on for WEEKS, at least, yet still it is an issue for me, nearly everyone I know that uses Skype, and by MANY others going by the threads brought up in these forums. And it IS the newest version, old ones still work fine; and yes all suggestions of drivers etc etc has been checked.

Yet, all I see, time and again, is a prepackaged, useless suggestion of "have you downloaded the latest version of Skype?". This is ridiculous, seeing how the latest version of Skype IS THE PROBLEM.

Is no one paying attention to this obvious fact in the 'Fix It' department? or is this some kind of inside joke, because it is really beyond my tolerance level. I can name six people I know personally that has dumped Skpye for this exact reason and I must say I am close behind; not to mention how many others are you guys losing because of this. I have used and LOVED Skype for many years but this is testing my loyalties, and then some.

There is no prominent post or adequate Known issue about it anywhere I can find that is accurate. With so many people having the EXACT SAME problem, wouldn't it behoove you to address it right up front, with status and feedback as to what is being done about it? daily, if necessary? Something that people will see as soon as they check the Problem or Issue lists and forums?

I just don't get it, it's not like Skype is some little new start-up company, but it sure seems like it with something this prevalent and important to your customers, that is apparently ignored or not taken serious enough.
