skypeIN number (call forwarding) HELP!

Hi Guys,

I have a question about the skypeIN number call forwarding feature. I am planning on getting a local skypeIN number. Afterwards, I would like to setup call forwarding on that number to another mobile number (in another country) (For example: Hong Kong skypeIN number forward to a China mobile number). If I sign up with the Unlimited World subscription, does that mean all my calls received will be FREE?

Please help!

Cheers

Contact shows online when logged into one computer but not other

Hi -

I have my brother added to my skype contacts list and he has me added to his. Lately we've noticed something, if he is signed into one of his computers he shows up online and I am able to message him. If he is logged into the other computer he doesn't show up online - and when i try to message him my message ends up with the circling status item next to it (the one that indicates that a message has yet to be sent) and he doesn't get it - until he logs in on the first computer.

I've tried removing and re-adding him to my contact list to no avail - what's going on here? I understand that with skype messaging permissions are stored locally - but assumed that if two clients were logged in as the same person at the same time that these would flow from one to another - so assume it's not the issue here.

Bluetooth Headsets and Skype

I am surprised that there have not been many discussions about bluetooth headsets and Skype. The BT headsets are tiny and thus ultra-portable, a good choice for Skypers on the go. You no longer need to drag a conventional headset with you any more, no matter how small it is.

Anyways, what is the state of affairs these days? Are Bluetooth headsets in general work with Skype?

I have Win 7 64 bit on a Sony Vaio, which has built-in Bluetooth support, and I am looking at this BT headset from Fry's:

http://www.frys.com/product/6063558?site=s...CH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

$15 after $20 rebate. Not bad.

Anyone has tried this headset or other BT headsets? How do they work with Skype? (Of course, I have the latest Skype.)

Many thanks in advance for your feedback!

So I have a Windows run computer (and love it), and my parents have a Mac(not my idea, but whatever). So recently my Dad had an interest in Skype so I downloaded and installed it for him on his Mac. I noticed some major differences, and was wondering if there was anyway I could do some things on the Windows that the Mac can do.
1. I noticed for ringtones on Skype there doesn't seem to be file size limit. Why is this not on the Windows version? Will they come out with it?

2. There is the voice reader, that will announce if you sign in, get called, or call someone, etc. It seems like a neat feature, was wondering if it's on the Windows version.

Cheers,

Donald

Is there a way to de-interlace the video while live broadcasting in a Skype call? I can de-interlace the video easily while using my TV software but there are no settings to do it in Skype. The video is being fed to a USB capture device connected by s-video input. Please help!

I have been using Skype on the same Win XP computer for over 2 yrs with no major issues. Starting in the last week I'm having issues with Incoming calls. If I don't answer in about 4 or so "rings", Skype stops "ringing" and cuts off the incoming call. I never had this issue before. If I call the person right back it works fine - it does not cut off - it can "ring" 10 times w/o cutting off. I have tried this with two people and it works the same in both cases. It seems to be an issue on my end. Once connected, the call quality is fine.

Anyone have an idea what the issue might be?

Hi, I recently showed my girlfriends godfather Skype so that while he travels to Greece he can still keep contact with his business and family members in the United States.

Today he video called me on his laptop with a problem on his desktop computer. He cannot hear anything from Skype, but people on the other end can hear him.

I assumed his speakers were not connected, but as he had the laptop looking at his desktop screen, he played something on Windows Media, showing me that there is sound coming out of the speakers.

I had him go to Tools > Audio Settings and had messed around with every option in there trying to find out what could be the problem, and also had him run the sound wizard with no avail.

Then the only other thing I could thing up was loading up the Volume Mixer and seeing if the volume for the Skype application was up all the way, in which it was.

I have no other options in my mind on how to try to fix this problem, unless we uninstall Skype and try to reinstall it. Unless you have another option that I haven't tried, please don't regurgitate the stuff I had already tried.

Any help?

Thanks Skype community.

Hi, im using windows 7 have every update installed and had the same problem with windows vista. I have the newest skype version (4.1) installed.

I have the teufel conectp 200 usb media set and whenever i start a conversation or go audio settings my sound goes off. E.g. when im hearing a mp3 in windows media player and as soon as a conversation starts i cant hear wheter the conversaton nor the mp3 and the media player shows an error.

It HAS to be a software bug or some preference i was missing to do. What can i do? If i use a normal headset it works fine, but the tuefel media set worked fine with my older pc too. So it has to be some software bug of my configurations.

Thanks in advance

payment fail due to multiple subscription

Hi to you all,

A few weeks ago I got my dad an skype-out subscription for europe.
All fine and good, he was more then satisfied with it, so now he wanted it again (the subscription was only for one month and that was quickly over.)

So I guess he clicked a bit here and there, and the next day he asked me why he can't phone out with skype.

So I check the buy-history, turns out he clicked a few times on stuff he shouldn't have clicked on. So now there are 2 or 3 payments open for skypecredit, and one for a one year europe subscription for 58 euro, someting.

So he paid this via banktransfer, and now a week later skype tells us that an order has been cancled due to the fact that the payment he made and the amout he had to pay weren't the same.

So I check the buy-history once again and find that one of the orders for skypecredit has been cancled.

So after looking around or a while and to my big disapointment find that there is no phone-number or e-mail-adres under wich I can ask an skype-employe about this matter I turn to the forums.

So is there someone here that can in some way help to cancle the open orders that weren't meant to be placed, and make sure that the money that he paid is actually for the one year europe subscriptions.

Any help on the subject is welcome! And I might have looked over a mailadres/phone number, so if I did, tell me ;-)

Greetings,
Teejo

Random Call Freeze-and-Drops

Hi,

I’m hoping someone can help me with a problem that I’ve had for the last year or so, ever since the Skype servers required me to upgrade from version 1.4 that I had been using for about 4 years. I never had any connection problems with 1.4, and could sit on a call for over a couple of hours without the connection dropping. I tried getting help from Skype customer support on this, but after talking with them via email and sending them a log file, I never heard back from them, even after I sent a few follow-up emails. Below is the info I told them.

When I upgraded to version 3.8 and with all the versions since then, including the latest of 4.1 (.141), I would always experience a random 10-15 second freeze in the call and then a call drop. I could identify it was happening because I would stop hearing the person at the other end (and likewise they couldn’t hear me) and noticed that the timer for the call had also frozen (i.e., was no longer incrementing). This would happen with calls with a single user, or with multiple users in a conference call, or when calling a real phone. As far as I know, nothing changed in my system setup when I upgraded or in the months afterwards. I’m using a hard connection to the net (not wireless). I’m not using Skype video, and other than this issue, I don’t have any problems with Skype calls - call quality is always very good.

These freeze/drops would be random, and so could happen 1 minute into the call or after 45 minutes. There was no pattern that indicated to me what the problem was, so at the suggestion of a friend that my router was to blame, I switched from a DLink 604 router to a LinkSys WRT54GL one. That unfortunately didn’t help my problem at all.

The one interesting clue that I came up with during my trouble-shooting was that bringing up the Windows Task Manager would instantly unfreeze Skype (and so prevent the drop) and allow my call to continue.

Other things I looked into that didn’t help were:
- Making sure my audio driver was the latest (it is).
- Updating to the latest DirectX
- Testing my voip quality (http://myvoipspeed.visualware.com/servers/yvr.html): Jitter measured at 3.4 ms, packet loss measured at 0.0%, MOS score estimated to be 2.9
- Tried uninstalling Skype and then reinstalling a new version (so not just upgrading)
- Made sure that my router had the correct port open.
- Ran the Skype logger to create a log file of one of the calls that froze and dropped.

Here are the answers to forum moderators list of questions:

a) Skype version currently installed (Skype->Help->About)
Skype version: 4.1.32.141

b) Operating System, Version, Patch level (e.g. Windows, XP, Service Pack 1 or 2, etc)
OS version: Win2K version 5.0.2195 SP4.
System Specs: P3 733 with 512 MB RAM

c) Type of Internet connection and speed (e.g. dial-up or broadband, 768 down/128 up, etc)
DSL broadband, ~ 650 down/100 up

d) Router in use? If so, which model?
Linksys WRT54GL v1.1

e) Firewalls in use? If so, which?
ZoneAlarm v2.6.231
Other Stuff: Spybot 1.5.2 resident TeaTimer, and Norton Antivirus with autoprotect on.

f) Headset in use?
Creative FATAL1TY gaming headset

g) Have you tried a call to 'echo123' from BOTH sides? If so, what are the results?
Yes, it works completely fine both ways.

If someone else has had this problem and figured out a way to solve it, or has any suggestions, I’ll be happy to hear them. Thanks!

Loud static

Hello all,

Me and my Girlfriend have been using skype for 8 months now with no problems. With in the past couple of days there has been a serious problem. On my side alone there is deafeningly loud static and no sound from the other side. This occurs a few minutes into the call and sometimes will last a long time. Then some times it will stop and be ok for a few minutes then stop again.

I have researched the topic and the only solution I could find was to fiddle with the setting in her control panel. (I could find suggestions on the internet only for XP which doesn't translate to well to vista) I set her off to do that but it didn't come up with any positive results. She is using a Logitech camera and mic combination.

We have both upgraded to the newest skype and have both have Vista and both have new computers and good internet connections. This is very frustrating and I am at my wit ends looking for solution. Can someone please help?

Sincerely
Joe

v4.1 in Windows 7

As it appears the previous post has run its course (with the OP being from January, 09), I thought I'd start a new discussion about Skype v4.1 and Windows 7 (64 bit for me). Copying over what I posted here: http://share.skype.com/sites/garage/2009/1..._windows_7.html

==============================================================

Not sure if this will be seen or even help but yes, Skype does work with Windows 7 x64 and even starts up without any issues. The problem I'm having is Skype will not remain running after boot up and once Windows has cycled through all the processes and maybe a couple minutes later, Skype just turns off. The only way for me to verify this is by hovering my mouse cursor over the Skype icon in the task bar at the bottom right; the icon just disappears. I then have to manually restart Skype which starts up just fine and runs without issues.

The command line in "msconfig" says: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /nosplash /minimized

I tried changing this line to remove the forward slash commands and then change my UAC to "Never Notify" which did not work. While Skype v4.1 does work in Windows 7, it appears there is some error with it starting up properly and remaining on after boot up. Checking the Event Viewer, and here is what is listed:

Faulting application name: Skype.exe, version: 4.1.0.179, time stamp: 0x4acf0be1
Faulting module name: RPCRT4.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bdb3b
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0003b565
Faulting process id: 0x890
Faulting application start time: 0x01ca67b8ce4bf585
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\RPCRT4.dll
Report Id: 51d1f925-d3ac-11de-bd18-001fd09ead16

Error ID is 1000 which was sent to Windows and nothing came up upon search. It would appear this is a fairly new issue which may need to be considered or investigated. Skype folks, you have my info, feel free to email or contact me if you need more data/information. Hope this helps.
