Hello,
I'm using skype to check for voice messages on my cell phone when abroad. the operation needs that I use the # and the * keys plus the regular keys to dial my password. it seems it is not working with skype ? do you know a particular setting or is it normal ? thanks, -Laurent |

Hey l_laparra!
Welcome to the Forum. If you are on Windows then use the Tab Called Dial Pad to enter your tones at the appropriate time. Regards, Bill -------------------- |

I'm using windows xp. µActually, i've tried several times to use the tab Dial pad and then to click on the keys. But some keys are not recognized by the IVR I am connecting to. For instance, when I dial 10 digits, the IVR responds me that I only dialed 3 digits and I can't have my service working correctly.
Is there anything to do ? Thks, -Laurent |

I had the same problem whith a number phone with extension (3 digits to dial when the number answer). I used the Tab Called Dial Pad as suggested in the "help", I can hear the tones but it is not taken into account by the server I call.

Is it possible to have a clear answer from the staff of skype on this issue ?
The dial keypad doesn't work. My IVR tells me that I didn't enter enough digits or repeats wrong digits like if I pressed twice on some. Never had the problem with any other phone. Can the skype staff clearly say if it's normal that it doesn't work or if there is a solution. I don't want to waste time & money to keep trying if it doesn't work. Laurent |

I was able to dial a number using the Skype Dial tab and it worked. Is there a test number that we can all dial and try a few numbers to see if this is a general problem or an install / PC related issue?

When I call a credit card phone number and they ask me to enter the number, it works about one out of three times. This means that this is very probably not an installation issue, but that Skype doesn't generate the DTMF tones correctly. They apparently are kind of correct, but not exactly, so that the detection systems sometimes recognize them properly, and sometimes not.
Would be good if Skype did some checking here and follow up with a bug fix or so... |

To add my 0.02 euros, I've also found it doesn't work for external conference calls. However my conference system echoes back the code I type in for verification. For example if my conference code is 1234#, the system will repeat something like
'one one one two four four' is this correct? The number of repetitions, and indeed numbers detected varies, so you may find sometimes it works and sometimes not. Based on my 15+ years in the telecoms business I suspect it's a minor sw fault with the tone generator that skype engineers can fix with within the current beta release (hint hint). |

Just to add to the confusion  , I made a couple of calls yesterday in which I entered credit card numbers (16 digits) and various other identifying numbers such as home phone number (11 digits), date of birth (8 digits), etc., usually followed by the # key and I just used the number keys on my laptop. Everything worked fine.

Hi Everybody,
I am having the same problems, I have posted this fact twice, no replies yet. Before I upgraded to the latest version of Skype I never had this problem. The solution is in the older version, please Skype just go ahead and "copy and paste" the old code into the upgrade. Mike. |

Just for the record, I'm using version 1.1.0.61 and have no problem with entering numbers either via the on screen key pad or the number keys on my laptop.

Problems with DTMF tones relate to some of our SkypeOut termination providers. To effectively troubleshoot and identify issues we need to know approx time of call and number called (contry and county prefix is OK, no full number neccessary) for the cases when DTMF codes failed.
This is going through troubleshooting now, issue #11115, visible to closed betatesters. T -------------------- Dog ate my headset

approx time of call: 21 Jan 2005, 10:03am NZDT
number called (contry and county prefix is OK, no full number neccessary) for the cases when DTMF codes failed. : 1-574-948-0378 and 1-866-639-4731 (US Sprint conference call numbers) trying to enter the conference ID (7 digits on keypad) failed. |

I experience problems with the DTMF tones right now. At at 13:41 GMT-5 I called from Perú using Skype v1.1.0.81 to +461312xxxx in Sweden. When calling my voicemail it recognizes that I press 0 to get to the menu, but the code is never accepted (too few digits being sent). |

Just in case Toivo or the happy business people at Skype were wondering - this is a MAJOR issue in my books. If I can't access my voicemail systems over skype using DTMF tones I am outa here. If it works when I call from my cel or a land line it should work from Skype.
I hope this is fixed soon - I'm a big fan of Skype |

I have a new issue...
Even though they wouldn't be recognized reliably, I could send DTMF tones with version 1.1.0.73. Then the program prompted me to update it to 1.1.0.79. I did this, and I couldn't send DTMF tones anymore. I tried a number of uninstall/reinstall sequences, but couldn't make the program send DTMF tones anymore. Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a fix? |
